Welcome to Holy Trinity Lutheran ChurchOur Mission: Share God’s Love

2 7

• Holy Communion is open to all who are baptized and trust that Christ is present in the meal, regardless of your tradition or affiliation. Pastors are available to talk about Holy Baptism if you desire to join in the Lord’s Supper.

• We share communion by intinction. Proceed to one of the stations via the center aisle. A communion server will give you bread to dip in the red wine or grape juice found in the chalice. Please return to your seat via the side aisles.

• Gluten-free bread is available at the table in the front center aisle. Remove a wafer from the bowl and pick up a cup of wine or juice, then step forward to hear the words, “given for you.”

• Children who do not yet receive communion or those who are not baptized are encouraged to come forward for a blessing. Cross your arms in front of you to signal your desire for a blessing.

• Hospitalized? Please inform the staff if you are going to be or unexpectedly admitted to the hospital.

• Children are invited and encouraged to worship with you. A supervised nursery is available on Sundays and Wednesdays for children 4 years and younger if you choose this option for all or part of the service.

• Children’s Bulletins are available from the ushers. Busy Bags are hanging in the Narthex near the Welcome Center.

• Restrooms are located on the north (women’s) and south (men’s) sides of the Narthex (lobby).• A Family/All-Gender Restroom is available on the north side of the Narthex.

36 AnnouncementsMission & Ministry Opportunities & Events

Today we celebrate the Feast of St. Luke. Identified as the author of both Luke and Acts, Luke was careful to place the events of Jesus’ life in their social and religious contexts. His gospel gives us some of the most beloved parables, as well as the songs of Zechariah, Mary, the angels, and Simeon.

Mission Trip Thank You Dinner: We want to thank all those who supported our youth who went on Mission Trips to Puerto Rico and Milwaukee last summer. If you supported the youth in any way, please join them for a dinner this Sunday, October 20, at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. After dinner we will share photos and stories from the trips.

A Congregational Meeting will be held Sunday, October 27, immediately following the 10:00 worship service. The purpose of this meeting is to vote on the new Welcome & Inclusion Statement and some constitutional changes. Please plan to attend.

Travis Segar has accepted a call to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Des Moines. His ordination will be held Sunday, October 20, at 2:00 pm at Holy Trinity.

Fall Choral Masterwork Celebrates All Saints Day - Invite a friend or neighbor to our fall choir masterwork. It will feature the Adult Choir, organ, and chamber orchestra on Sunday, November 3, at the 8:30 and 10:00 am worship services.

Over 65 and on Medicare? This is the time to review Part D and Medicare Advantage plans. Counselors from SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program) will offer free and unbiased reviews on November 10. Call the church office to make your appointment. Contact Marty Rathje (964-2726) with questions.

Veterans Day - If you or a loved one served in the Armed Forces, we would like to include them in a video that will be shown in Café Koinonia on November 10. To be included or to update your information, please send a photo, service dates, branch, and any other information you’d like included to Erik Eggland at [email protected] by November 3.

Remembering Loved Ones on All Saints Day - During worship on November 3, we will remember those who have died since last November. To include a loved one who has died during this time, write their name on the back of your Welcome Card with a note that they are to be remembered on All Saints Day, or email their name to Lisa Strnad at [email protected] by October 27.

Property Work Day will be held Saturday, November 2, from 8:00 to noon. We need people to help clean up the trees around east parking lot (please bring chain saws and trucks/trailers if you have them), rake leaves, and add dirt to the garden. Please bring rakes/trimmers/other tools as you are able. Contact Chad Heuton at 515-210-6842 with questions.

Helping Hand Food Boxes are a local initiative to fill special boxes with non-perishable food and personal hygiene items so that people in need can access them easily. Two boxes are located in our south parking lot. We are asking members to sponsor a box for a week or more; sign up online at bit.ly/htlc-HelpingHand or contact the office.

A Lutheran Welcome series of booklets are available and located to the right of the Welcome Center. Topics include: Jesus, The Bible, Baptism, Holy Communion, Forgiveness, and A Reformation Way.
