WHEN SHEEP LIE DOWN Call to Worship - ISAIAH 26: 3-4 “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD himself, is the Rock eternal.” Prayer of Confession O Lord, whose chosen dwelling is the heart that longs for Your presence and humbly seeks Your love: we come to You to acknowledge and confess that we have sinned in thought and word and deed; we have not loved You with all our heart and soul, with all our mind and strength; we have not loved even our neighbor as ourselves. Deepen within us our sorrow for the wrong we have done, or for the good we have left undone. But You, O Lord, are full of compassion and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love; there is forgiveness with You. Restore to us the joy of Your salvation; bind up that which is broken, give light to our minds, strength to our wills and rest to our souls. Speak to each of us the word that we need, and let Your word abide with us until it has produced in us Your holy will. Amen. Sermon Text: Psalm 23: 1-4 (NIV) 1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me besides quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, For you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.
