FRAN DRESCHERHaving just completed a run on stage as the stepmother in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Fran Drescher, 57, will be the voice of Frankenstein’s wife in Hotel Transylvania 2, a 3D animated fi lm, in theaters Sept. 25. You started with 30 Minute Meals. Now you have your own talk show. At what point did you look at your career and go, “I’m a success!”? Um, never. I like to work with people and food, so any day I get up and have a job that involves both, I feel successful.

Do you think you have been able to improve the way America eats? I hope that the food I write about and teach is accessible enough to keep families cooking and eating together as often as possible.

When you travel, is fi nding good food the goal, or can you relax and do the sights? I love to take pictures and write when I travel, but I also stay in spaces with a kitchen so I can cook like a local.

What do you do in your down time? I cook.

You always say you’re a cook, not a chef. Do you ever wish you’d gone to culinary school? No. I grew up working in restaurants, and I prefer the culinary institute of my mom, who happens to be my favorite chef. Plus, if you never learn all the rules or limits in any discipline, you are not scared to break them.

Beth Stultz, marketing and communica-tions manager for Pet Sitters International, suggests scheduling a meet-and-greet beforehand. “That gives you time to show the pet sitter around your home, let him or her know if any areas are off limits and provide useful information, such as any hiding place or special toy your pet may have,” she says.

A few more sitter-prep tips from Stultz:

• Pets love consistency, so write down your pet’s daily routine. Let the sitter know when Fido is used to being fed and walked and when he goes to bed.

• Leave a spare key with a neighbor or friend and give them the pet sitter’s contact info (and vice versa) in case of emergency.

• Secure cupboards and put away medi-cations, sharp objects and snacks you may have lying around.

• Let your sitter know if anyone else has access to your home or may be on your premises while you’re away (cleaning service, lawn services, etc.).

It’s not uncommon to miss a few spots when you’re slather-ing on SPF. Here’s a checklist of fi ve places you’re probably forgetting:• Ears. A study from the Skin Cancer Foundation listed ears as the third most frequent location for skin cancers. • Eyelids. The skin on your eyelids will absorb moisturizer better than sunscreen, so apply a moisturizer that contains an SPF of at least 15.• Lips. Frequent use of a lip balm with an SPF of at least 15 will help prevent skin cancers here, which most frequently occur on the lower lip in fair-skinned men older than age 50. • Tops of your feet. A thick layer of dead skin cells protects the soles of your feet against the sun when you’re toes-up in the sand. But the tops face the sun directly when you’re wearing sandals or going barefoot.• Scalp. Your hair provides only so-so protection against ul-traviolet rays. If you don’t want to wear a hat, be sure to put on some sunscreen. To avoid greasy hair, invest in a spray that you can direct on your roots, then rub into the scalp. Otherwise, grab a cream formula and take special care to cover your the part in your hair.

ZESTY CHICKEN TACO CUPS 8 (6-inch) corn or fl our tortillas 1 Tbsp olive oil 1 lb ground chicken or turkey 2 to 3 Tbsp taco seasoning mix 1 (14-oz) can fi re-roasted tomatoes, drained

2 cups shredded romaine lettuce 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese 1 large avocado, pitted, peeled and diced Sour cream and fresh lime (optional)

1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Turn a 12-cup muffi n tin upside down and spray the bottom with nonstick spray.

2. If using corn tortillas, wrap three in a damp paper towel, and microwave them on high until very soft, about 30 seconds. (If using fl our tortillas, no need to heat.) One at a time, gently press the tortillas into the crevices between four of the muffi n cups, forming a bowl shape with each tortilla. Spray the inside of each taco bowl with nonstick spray. Bake 13 to 15 minutes, until they turn golden brown and crisp. Transfer the tin to a wire rack and let cool for 5 minutes. Repeat twice to make eight taco bowls.

4. While bowls bake and cool, prepare the fi lling. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground chicken and seasoning mix and cook, stirring frequently, until chicken is browned, about 5 minutes. Add tomatoes and cook 4 minutes, stirring frequently.

5. Divide lettuce among the tortilla bowls. Top with ground chicken mixture, cheese and diced avocado and additional romaine. If desired, add sour cream or fresh lime juice. Serve warm. Serves 4.

Looking for an all-American dessert for your Independence Day potluck? Try these Red Velvet Blueberry Whoopie Pies—a patriotic dessert from the blueberry farmers at the U.S. Highbush Blue-

berry Counci l. The red velvet cake makes them perfect for Fourth of July parties, but you can substitute nearly

any cake mix you prefer.

RED VELVET BLUEBERRY WHOOPIE PIES 1 (18¼ -oz) box red velvet cake mix ¼ cup all-purpose fl our ½ cup water 1⁄3 cup vegetable oil 3 eggs 1½ cups marshmallow creme (like Fluff ) 1 cup fresh blueberries

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. Combine cake mix, fl our, water, oil and eggs. With an electric mixer, beat on medium speed until smooth, 2 to 3 minutes.

3. Scoop batter by rounded tablespoons onto prepared baking sheets, 2 inches apart, to make 24 cookies. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, until puff ed. Let cool 2 minutes on pans. With a spatula, transfer to wire racks and let cool completely.

4. Spread 1½ teaspoons marshmallow creme onto the fl at side of each cookie. Place blueberries over 12 of the cookies. Top with remaining cookies to make sandwiches. Serve immediately or layer between sheets of waxed paper in an airtight container and refrigerate. Makes 12.

HOW TO MAKE IT:1. Spray wire wreath (which usually comes in green) with white paint. Spray 25 clothespins white, 25 blue and 25 red, coating both sides. Let dry.

2. Using a star punch, make 100 stars. Using the gel glue, paste stars onto blue clothespins (fi ve stars per clothespin).

3. The wire wreath usually comes with four rings. Attach clothespins to rings, alternating between the two inner rings. First use 5 white pins, then 5 red. Repeat until you’ve used all the red and white pins. Then attach all the blue pins.

4. Tie the ribbon to the back of the wreath.

5. To keep all the pins in place, use a hot glue gun to attach the pins to the wire, working from the back of the wreath.
