31年目の、新しいサントリーホールの幕開けとなる「Reオープニング・コンサート」のメイン　

プログラムは、ロッシーニの「荘厳ミサ曲」。長年世界中の劇場で活躍してきた元テノール　

歌手であり、現在はサントリーホールオペラ・アカデミーのエグゼクティブ・ファカルティを　

務めるなど、後進の育成にも情熱を注ぐジュゼッペ・サッバティーニが登場。指揮者として

新しいサントリーホールの門出を祝福します。

On the 31st year since it’s establishment, the new Suntory Hall presents Rossini's Messe Solennelle as the main program for the Reopening Concert. The new Suntory Hall will celebrate its new start under the baton of Giuseppe Sabbatini, a former long-time tenor of international fame, who is now a member of the executive faculty at Suntory Hall Opera Academy.

Since opening its doors in 1986, a pipe music box has played a fanfare to announce the time to visitors. At noon, and when the hall opens for concerts, the wall above the main entrance opens up and dolls in the shape of an old man and a little boy, who are keepers of a vineyard, emerge to turn the music box. This music box, featuring 37 pipes, was built by Rieger Orgelbau, the same organ builder who created the organ installed in the Main Hall.

Summer Festival 2017Since 1987, the Suntory Foundation for Arts’ has been holding the Summer Festival

featuring a wide range of music from chamber music to opera. The Producer Series

stage performances showcasing a countless number of contemporary masterpieces or

performances that go beyond the confines of music.

The name Blue Rose (Small Hall), derived from something that is regarded as a synonym for the impossible, was named so in hopes that artists will use this hall as a venue to take on new challenges. The carved wooden piece “Blue Rose 2007” (carved by Yoshihiro Suda) that hangs above the entrance is the symbol of the “blue rose” that has been successfully engineered by Suntory.


　ブルーローズ不可能の代名詞とされてきたBlue Rose。この小ホールは、多くのアーティストに新たな挑戦の舞台として活用してほしいとの願いが込められています。入口の上に常設されている木彫り作品「ブルーローズ2007」（彫刻家・須田悦弘作）は、サントリーが開発に成功した「青いバラ」を再現したものです。

“Intermezzo” is an Italian word meaning “interlude.” Suntory Hall was the first concert hall in Japan to provide a drink corner where audience could enjoy an alcoholic beverage during intermission. The drink corner serves beer, wine, whisky, and coffee as well as light snack.

Suntory Hall Academy, comprised of the Opera Academy and Chamber Music Academy, is geared toward young musicians who are on their way to becoming professional musicians. In addition to lessons by the world's leading musicians, students attend regular workshops to deepen their musical knowledge, and perform in recitals at the Blue Rose (Small Hall).

Since the launch of the Academy in 2010, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi (Vc) has served as Academy Director, with Kikuei Ikeda (Vn), Wakako Hanada (Vn), and Kazuhide Isomura (Va) joining as the faculty in 2015 (3rd term); and Koichiro Harada (Vn), Hakuro Mori (Vc), and Shigeo Neriki (Pf) in 2016 (4th term).

Opera AcademyOpera Academy opened in 1993. In 2011, the Academy invited former tenor Giuseppe Sabbatini, currently active as a conductor and singing teacher, to join the executive faculty. At the same time, the Academy welcomed in Akie Amou and Hiroko Noda (sopranos), Makoto Sakurada and Shigeru Imao (tenors), Hideya Masuhara (baritone), and Miyuki Kotouda (piano) to join as the coaching faculty.

切な日本の友人たちへ、お見舞の気持ちを伝えたい」と1億円の寄付の申し出があり、長年、同楽団の日本公

演のパートナーとして信頼関係を構築してきたサントリーグループもこの主旨に賛同、同額を拠出してマッチン

グ・ファンドとして設立したものです。

コンサートその他の活動に対して、4,578万円の助成金を

支給しました。

ウィーン・フィルメンバーが継続的に被災地を訪れて開催する、こどもたちとその家族のためのコンサート。2012年は宮城県、13年と15年は岩手県、14年は福島県にて開催、　また仙台ジュニアオーケストラを継続的に指導してきました。2016年は5年間の集大成として、サントリーホール大ホールにて、10月16日に被災地のこどもたちと共演しました。

The Vienna Philharmonic and Suntory Music Aid Fund was set up in April 2012 to carry out subsidy programs and public concerts. The Vienna Philharmonic pledged a donation of one million Euros via Suntory Hall in hopes of conveying their condolences to their dearest friends in Japan who have been victimized by the earthquake damage. Having built up a bond of trust as a partner with the Vienna Philharmonic through many years of Japan tours by the orchestra, the Suntory Group established a matching fund in order to indicate our support for the offer.

The Vienna Philharmonic has continued to visit disaster-affected areas and conduct concerts for children and their families. They visited Miyagi Prefecture in 2012, Iwate Prefecture in 2013 and 2015, Fukushima Prefecture in 2014, and they have continued to coach the Sendai Junior Orchestra. To mark the culmination of five years of activities in 2016, a concert was held with children from disaster-affected areas at Suntory Hall on October 16.

With the wish to provide aid to disaster-affected areas throughout Japan, applications for activities meeting the objectives of the fund are accepted from throughout Japan, and the "Music Aid Award" and grant are awarded to recipients. Up to now 63 concerts and other activities have been conducted, and a total of 45,780,000 yen has been awarded in grants.
