Happy February and Happy Valentine’s Day!!! I hope you are all enjoying this mild weather to start the New Year!!! As I am writing this letter the sun is shining and I am amazed that we are half way through winter and it hasn’t been that bad!! Not that you will hear any complaints from this sun lovin’ girl!! My kids on the other hand keep waiting for their snow days!!! :) I have a friend here at the senior center that tells me the caterpillar predicted this will be a longer but milder winter. So far, the caterpillar seems to be correct!! Let’s hope the groundhog says the same thing! Have you seen all the beautiful quilt artwork on our walls!!!! The talents of our members in our Friday morning group are on display!! Enjoy the beautiful landscape quilts of Ellen Lecureux, and the quilts of Jackie Bohn, Pat Kolasinski, and our very own Christine Hoskins!! They are all so amazing and I love looking at all of them in awe and amazement! Now that the holidays are in our rearview mirror it’s time to have a pot luck!! The Valentine’s Day potluck will be on Friday, February 15th. Chris has promised that she will make her delicious spaghetti as the main dish. I can smell the sauce simmering now!! Sign up sheet will be on the lobby table. Some highlights this month: We have one of our members, Matthew Goyt a retired nurse, coming in on the third Thursday of the month for blood pressure checks. A table will be set up in the lobby. Come and take advantage of this wonderful service he is offering. Jim Kolad has volunteered to teach a euchre class at the library. The class will be in April and a sign up sheet will be on the lobby table. The senior center now has a shredding con- tainer for offsite shredding for our members!! For those turning 65 this year, we have a lot of opportunities for you to meet with a Medicaid/Medicare specialist to guide you through the sign up process. Also, we will be closed on Monday, February 18th, for President’s Day. Last but not least, we have had to make some changes to where the bus picks us up for all of our casino and day trips. You may have noticed that parking is a little tight around here. ;) To help free up some parking spaces the trips will now be picked up at Bennett Park East.
