Comments:
Lucarelli: I am very pleased with the outreach and support our district has provided to increase Kindergarten readiness.
Mitchell: Loved the “On the Move” resource for parents/providers…very easy to use. I am so happy that CCPS shares it’s knowledge and resources with providers to help with KG readiness.
Terry: It is becoming increasingly clear how important Early Education is for our students to be successful.
Westberry: Intervention at the PreK level is key to a child’s success. From the data you’ve provided, there is great emphasis on communicating and involving parents, i.e. newsletters in three languages that include STEAM ideas for parents/guardians, providing training opportunities, and soliciting feedback, which resulted including information and strategies to develop socially and emotionally. Workshops were developed by Dr. Elizabeth McBride, Director of Early Learning; Ms. Michelle Starr, Coordinator of PreK; and Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Batiato to meet the need for training. These were conducted three times during the year for PreK teachers and were thorough and correlated to the progress of the students during the school year.

Comments:
Carter: Thrilled that CCPS is and has been leading the way in work force education. Also the Entrepreneurship Clubs in Middle Schools. Small business is the back bone of our nations economy.
Mitchell: Very happy to see CTE opportunities being explored and expanded wherever possible. Also happy that we are using feedback to make adjustments.
Terry: Some students in Elementary School felt the LWIT field trip was there favorite field trip. It’s good to start young.
Westberry: The idea of a digital platform to enhance the Pathway to College and Career will engage our Techie students to continue their progress. The information about careers and costs of college will interest the students and be helpful when making decisions. Bringing in a Workforce Education Advisor to visit the HS’s before the students visited the technical high schools focused the students and enabled them to see first‐hand what careers are available through technical high schools. The NAFTrac information keeps students informed and heading in the direction of completing their coursework. The workplace experience can be rewarding, especially that all the areas are covered from Resumes to Interviews. CCPS is very fortunate to have so many community partners to offer internships. After participating as a “judge” in the simulation of “Shark Tank,” I was impressed by the knowledge each middle school group had learned from developing a product to the final pitch to the “sharks” including costs, marketing, sample products and their poise when “selling” their ideas. It’s my hope that more schools will send teams to the Entrepreneurship Steam Conference in the future and not miss out on a comprehensive and fun learning experience.

Comments:
Carter: Arts are important, and letting students know that there are careers available in the arts is equally important.
Lucarelli: I have been extremely happy with the STEAM initiatives and our push with the Arts. I would really love to see us go another step forward and increase the performing arts at all of our schools. :‐)
Mitchell: Very happy to see STEAM extending all the way down to our youngest learners. Also, very important that we are always analyzing and getting feedback to better steer our resources.
Terry: Including the Arts has been a good addition to STEM.
Westberry: STEAM challenges have been on‐going and our students are highly engaged because of the integration of specific learning goals in the curriculum when they are being taught per your goals. Kindergarten teachers had training with follow up questions asking how trainers could best help in the future and received feedback. First grade teachers also had training and expanded coding to the Dash Exploration Challenge with specific subject standards integrated, even to suggestions for read alouds to accompany the lesson, which is highly effective instruction. Feedback was solicited for the high school engineering coding competition and future FAME programs will include information about careers that align with STEAM.

Comments:
Carter: Growing teachers from within is great.
Lucarelli: Appreciate the use of Harry Wong’s materials. Very excited to expand the teaching academy to now 3 high schools.
Mitchell: Great ways to tackle the teacher shortage. Appreciate the monthly meetings to know if we are meeting the needs of our Year One teachers.
Terry: In this day and age it is very important to attract good teachers and then be able to keep them. Dr. Patton has been doing an outstanding job in this area.
Westberry: All of these strategies will, hopefully, encourage students to start thinking of teaching as a career and have positive experiences in high school, retain new teachers with pertinent training and facilitate our valued non‐instructional employees to pursue a teaching degree. All very positive ideas, especially with the teacher shortage and funding issues.

Carter: Glad we are affording students the opportunity to take Spanish in 5th grade. Identify students at risk early on is best practice.
Lucarelli: Although the objective was met to implement Cambridge down to Kindergarten, and I value the Cambridge program, I have serious concerns with the implementation regarding class composition. I fully believe the intent was good, however I would like to see efforts made to address teachers' comments and concerns.
Mitchell: I love that CCPS works to fine tune the programming for ALL students, whether it’s the Cambridge program for our high achievers or Student Success Plans for our strugglers.

Comments:
Lucarelli: Very thankful for the work that has been done to cut costs in a way that has not effected student programs. I appreciate the efforts to think outside the box.
Mitchell: Very pleased with the transparency of our finances and our push to be debt free by 2026. I found the FEFP video particularly useful.
Terry: Dr. Patton has worked to keep our District fiscally sound and way ahead of others in the state. Even during the hard times we were able to maintain all our programs for our students. We need to find ways to provide more for our employees in the District.
Westberry: The goal in this category includes objectives combining communication with fiscal responsibility, appropriate informative meetings requesting input and five other opportunities for input and two platforms to share and obtain input about spending reductions. Four consolidated planning meetings have been held to prioritize academic needs with the budget, academic initiatives, and leverage resources with human capital. All of these have been taken into consideration and implemented with integrity.

Comments:
Lucarelli: While I am happy these events all happened, I wish more parents attended.
Mitchell: CCPS continues to make communication with stakeholders a priority. Having attended several Town Halls, SDAC meetings, a CEO briefing, etc; I can tell you the district is very much about open communication and transparency.
Terry: Communications is very important. Dr. Patton has put together an Award Winning Team.
Westberry: School district events, symposiums, round‐table discussions, Principal for the Day and many more have involved the community and parents along with advisory meetings with parents and community members to determine communication plans so they can participate in school events and support their child’s academics. Risk assessment re: school security, emotional learning strategies, local law enforcement safety plans, customer service training for office staff, installation of Buddy Benches or We Dine together at each school. Terry: Dr. Patton has the ability to get a lot done during the school year. I’m not sure anyone could keep up with her pace and it shows in the ranking of our schools. We have never been ranked so high or be so highly respected as a school system as we are now. Not only is she doing a great job but she has surrounded herself with excellent staff and employees in our schools.

General Comments For Relationship With The Board
Lucarelli: Dr. Patton always communicates important information in a timely manner. Sometimes I am concerned that although she is thorough in study and analysis, questions related to study/analysis are designed to elicit a specific response.
Mitchell: Dr. Patton makes communication with the board a priority. She makes herself and her staff available to answer any and all questions we may have. She not only clearly states her recommendations but also backs them up with her “why.” It makes my job as a board member much easier to vote informed.
Terry: Not often, but sometimes I feel we should know something going on and were not informed.

General Comments For Management Of The District: Management Of Employees
Carter: Dr. Patton has built an excellent team that is driving the district under her direction. The district is huge and needs constant leadership and I want to make sure Dr. Patton is not burning herself out.
Lucarelli: Due to Dr. Patton's amazing leadership and vision, Collier County has become a District that many others look to for answers and ideas. I hope to see us continue to work smarter, not harder. We can focus on using our resources most effectively ‐ especially our people ‐ towards the highest level of impact. I do want to comment, as well, about the many opportunities for recognition Dr. Patton has created for her employees. She surely values her staff.
Mitchell: Dr. Patton sets very high expectations for her staff and holds herself to an equally high standard. I’ve not met a person who has the ability to recall items and follow up quite like she does. I have yet to have to remind her about a question...she always circles back to follow up before I even have to ask. I can’t speak to the delegation of authority aspect, however I do worry about that given that she is so passionate and wants to ensure great outcomes for our students. I certainly hope that her staff feels empowered, as I’m sure does also.
Terry: Dr. Patton maintains a heavy workload and sometimes it is difficult for others to keep up.
