2.2 Revision Block Content

Revision block content is to be filled in using the appropriate AutoCAD system’s technique.

• Characters

BLOCK font, thin density, 2.5 mm character size.

ISOCP.shx font, thickness .2, 2.5 mm character size.

• Drawing revisions are to be tracked using one (1) alpha character per engineering notice or

change sequence.

• The alpha revision character must agree with the alpha revision character for the main part in

the Title Block.

• Multiple revisions within the same change sequence are to be tracked by using a numerical

suffix.

• Single revisions do not require a numerical suffix.

• For Table changes, include the Item #, Column Heading, and brief description of the change.

(Construction Drawings)

• For General Notes: include the Note Number/Name, Main Note subject and a brief description

of the change.

• For standardised revision record notations, including Multiple Revisions, Engineering Works

Order and Contract Variation Form, supplier (Superior Sales) is to be notified immediately.

2.3 Sizes: Dimensions / Notes and Labels / Drafting Symbols

• The system calculated dimension should be used. Tolerances and appended text are to be

defined as part of the dimension.

• Dimensions should be placed on the drawing, not in a view.

• Notes, labels and miscellaneous drafting symbols that are not associated to geometry (i.e.

view labels, etc.), may be placed in the member view. This may be desirable since non-associated

drafting entities will not move when their owning drafting views are moved.

• Numbered Notes:

• General Notes will be located in the Upper Left corner of the drawing. If several notes are

numbered, such as a listing of General Notes, and a note is removed, the rest are re-numbered. A

recorded change in the revision column will reflect both the brief description of the note and its

number that were removed, and the renumbering of the remaining notes. Due diligence must be

observed concerning a note in the field of the drawing if it refers to a numbered note.

• Dimensions, Notes and Labels should be formatted as follows:

• Dimensions, notes / labels: 3.5 mm character size.

ISOCP.shp BLOCK font, thin density.

font, thickness .2

• Section, Detail and Special Note labelling: 5.0 mm character size.

the Superior Plastech manager or the person who requested it.

• Draftsperson completes EXO-Net history notes that job has been completed and given to

the Superior Plastech personnel.

2.5 Drawings Procedure (Domestic Jobs)

Once the job has been registered in the Drafting Office, Superior Jetties drafting personnel

commence the design and drafting of the job in AutoCAD. This procedure would be subdivided

into 5 (five) main activities;

2.5.1 RP plan (Lot drafting)

2.5.2 Pontoon and gangway design drafting

2.5.3 Elevation drafting

2.5.4. Detailed drafting

2.5.5. Final Job checking

2.5.1 RP Plan (Lot drafting)

Before commencement of any drafting, draftsperson should first organise electronic File folder for

the job and also a file name. Link for the current drafting jobs G:\ACAD2000 Drawings\2K14 Jobs

Drawing Number Identification should be as follows;

• Domestic and Commercial jobs would have prefix SJ (Superior Jetties) and then the EXO-

Net job number as the job number- i.e. SJ-11355

• Mining and Industrial jobs would have prefix W (Work), followed by the EXO-Net job

number, i.e. W-11257

• Sustainable living jobs would have prefix L (Life), followed by the EXO-Net job number i.e.

L-11237

• Superior Jetties Standard drawings would have prefix SJ-STD (Standard) followed by the

EXO-Net Part number, i.e. SJ-STD-R0040

Once the folder and the file name are organised, draftsperson should start new drawings by

Superior template file in order to get all settings and latest title boarder for the job. You can find

latest Template file here. Superior-Jetties-Template-19-03-2014.dwt

Once the Title boarder is being filled draftsperson should commence drawing of Lot number

(property block). These plans come from the RP Data and are surveyed by accredited Crowns

Registrar of titles, Qld. The Plans are usually measured in Imperial system. This is because the

plans were done before Australian metrication in 1970. Good information to know would be that

1 link is = 201.168 mm.

Drafting is done basically by tracing the outline from the hard copy drawings into AutoCAD file or

by inserting customer’s drawings into AutoCAD file (dwg or pdf extensions). With block outline

completed, draftsperson should move onto Pontoon and Gangway design drafting.

Document Owner: Version: 1.0 Revision: 19-03-2014

Atlas Marine International Pty Ltd T/A Superior Jetties Copyright 2014 All rights reserved, Superior Jetties

2.5.2 Pontoon and gangway design drafting

With block outline done, draftsperson should investigate what is the quay line for the specific

property that he or she is working on. The quay line for the Gold Coast area can be found here

G:\Quaylines\Gold Coast. It can be also found browsing through quay lines hard copies in the

Drafting office. (it is usually 10 to 12 m from revetment wall, this must be checked for every job)

Once the quay line is identified, draftsperson should offset parallel line from the final edge of the

property outwards to the canal water that will give him/her correct distance to the quay line.

Next step should be offsetting quay line inwards (towards the dry land) for the desired amount

which is governed by the pontoon size. With this completed, draftsperson should identify pile set-

out, gangway position and abutment location in the similar manner.

Important: It should be always kept in mind the pontoon orientation. Pontoon should be drawn

parallel to the final edge of the quay line/Lot line.

2.5.3. Elevation drafting

With pontoon and gangway location completed, draftsperson should move onto Elevation

drafting.

Elevation drafting is done by drawing the lines from the plan view onto elevation view which is

located directly under the plan view of the pontoon and gangway.

Elevation drawing should show; sea bed, pontoon elevation, gangway elevation, abutment

elevation, piles elevation and embedment elevation.

These elevations should also show different levels of the pontoon and the gangway in different

tide levels. This is shown on drawings as superimposed figure of pontoon and gangway at Law

Average tide. (Hidden lines)

With Elevation drafting done, draftsperson should move onto Detail drafting.

2.5.4. Detailed drafting

Once all main parts of the project are drawn, draftsperson should move onto Detailing of the job.

Detail drafting might include the following;

a) Pontoon Construction details

b) Gangway Construction details

c) Abutment Construction details

d) Pile Set-out details

e) Inclusions details

f) Void Construction details

2.5.4.a Pontoon Construction details

Drafting is actioned by using the previous jobs details and/or organising new details from scratch.

Pontoon construction details are done by typical pontoon construction details that can include reo

positioning details, tie bolt details, wailer and fender details, cleats details, bracket piles details,

conduit details and 1.6 mm polyethylene external pontoon skin details.

2.5.4.b Gangway Construction details

Drafting is actioned by using the previous jobs details and/or organising new details from scratch.

Gangway construction details are done by typical gangway details and can include plan gangway

detail, elevation detail, tapered end detail, gangway cross section detail, rollers detail, bushed

tube hinge detail, frame detail and decking detail.

2.5.4.c Abutment construction details

Drafting is actioned by using the previous jobs details and/or organising new details from scratch.

Abutment construction details are done by typical abutment details and can include plan details,

elevation details, gangway bracket details, reo positioning details, revetment or retaining wall

details and threaded rod centres detail.

2.5.4.d Pile Set-out details

Drafting is actioned by measuring distances in AutoCAD and cannot be copied from the previous

or existing jobs. This requires actual measuring of the pile centre distance vertically, horizontally

and diagonally from the point of origin (in this case this would be the edge of the Lot/Revetment

wall).

Pile set out detail might include the note: All measurements are to be taken from pegs driven

directly in front of the revetment wall.

2.5.4.e Inclusions details

Drafting is actioned by using the previous jobs details and/or organising new details from scratch.

Inclusion details are done by typical Inclusion details that can include type of the pontoon,

abutment detail, type of gangway, pile types and size, pile brackets type and size, winch stands,

free standing seat detail, sink station type, light post type and all other details that depend on type

of the pontoon and customers requests.

2.5.4.f Void construction details

Drafting is actioned by drawing the 3D model of the void and calculating the counter weight

balance for the concrete. Usually these details are always different so they cannot be copied from

the previous/existing jobs. You can find counter weight calculator excel file here

G:\CAD\Counterweight Calculator 2.xlsx

Document Owner: Version: 1.0 Revision: 19-03-2014

Atlas Marine International Pty Ltd T/A Superior Jetties Copyright 2014 All rights reserved, Superior Jetties

Upon completion of void details, pdf file should be organised for fabrication department and

saved to this directory G:\Voids PDF

2.5.5. Final Job checking

After completion of all required drafting on the project, draftsperson should print 2 hard copies of

each drawing for the council’s application and approvals. Final General Plan and Inclusion

drawings should be emailed to the client for their signature and approval. Once this is completed,

draftsperson should check each other’s work and use the job checking sheet for this to be

finalised. You can find Job checking sheet here Superior-Job-Checking-Sheet-R1.xlsx

2.6 Bill of Materials and EXO NET Entries

One of the final procedures in drafting department is adjustments of BOM’s or Bill of Materials.

This is done by office manager or drafting manager.

During the quoting/take off stage, sales personnel are not able to envisage the finest and

unforseen details of the project. This is revealed only after the job has been finalised in drafting

department.

Once all the required information and details of the job are at hand, Drafting manager or Office

manager can commence the BOM adjustment. Usually the number of cleats and length of the

gangway would be omitted on the original take off. These are two areas that require special

attention.

All gangways require gangway ends to be added additionally to the BOM as this is not originally

entered into BOM because of different types of gangways. (i.e. roll on land/roll on pontoon,

hinged both ends etc.)

Please Note:

Every job with special items requires BOM entered from scratch as this would not be in EXO Net

system.

After completion of BOM’s history notes have to be completed with full description of the changes

made to the BOM.

Next action would be engineering person task completion. This would normally be assigned to

Operations department or to the person who is responsible for the production procurement.

Upon completion of all tasks above, drafting manager needs to enter actual hours consumed for

the project. This is done in Superior Drafting Register. You can find a copy of Drafting Register here

4. DRAWING REVISION PROCEDURE

4.1 General

Alphabetical or Numeric characters shall be used in the Drawing Title and Revision blocks to

indicate the revision number.

No revision shall be carried out to a drawing that has already been issued without the drawing

revision being incremented.

A brief but informative statement of the revision made, and where applicable the appropriate

change of project or other reference shall be shown in the revision block.

4.2 Preliminary Concept/Design Level (Alpha Revisions)

During the development phase, prior to "approved for construction" status, alpha capital letters,

incrementing upwards from ‘A’ shall be used to reflect changes made to the drawing since the last

revision.

All Concept/Original Drawings for Customers/Council’s approvals shall have Revision “A” inserted

in all drawings with Description: “Initial Release”

Note: Letters “I”, “O” and “Q” shall not be used. Revisions after “Z” shall be “AA”, “AB”, etc.

The Responsible Officer or Draftsperson shall maintain control and ownership of these revision

levels during the drawing development stage.

4.3 Approved Design Level (Numeric Revisions)

Normally, Revision 0 is synonymous with “Approved for Construction” status; however, due to

huge volume of drafting and Superior drafting capacity, Superior shall be using a single

Alphabetical Revision system i.e. (A, B, C etc.) with “FOR CONSTRUCTION” stamp made for

Construction drawings, once they have been approved by Engineer/Council.

After approval sign-off on the paper copy of the drawing, the Draftsperson shall pass the Wet-

Signature copy to Drawing Control for checking the drawing into Superior Drawing Management

System and filing.

Document Owner: Version: 1.0 Revision: 19-03-2014

Atlas Marine International Pty Ltd T/A Superior Jetties Copyright 2014 All rights reserved, Superior Jetties

4.4 As Built Drawings

Drawings shall be revved up to “As-Built” status whenever there are any changes on any drawings

that have occurred during construction or commissioning that are not accurately shown on the

drawings already issued.

If there are no changes during construction or commissioning and the latest drawing revision

reflects the “As-Built” condition, it is not necessary to update the drawing to state “As-Built” in the

revision block.

4.5 Cancelled Drawing Numbers

4.5a Non-Reusable Drawing Numbers

If Drawings have been received and registered by Superior Drawing Control and are subsequently

cancelled, the Superior drawing number shall NOT be used again.

For traceability, the drawing to be cancelled shall be revved-up, a brief statement made in the

revision block and diagonally across the drawing in large text between two parallel lines the

wording: “DRAWING CANCELLED”

This applies to drawings where the information is no longer valid and another drawing has not

replaced it.

• “DRAWING CANCELLED – SUPERSEDED BY DRAWING NUMBER ………………..…”

This applies to drawings where the information is no longer valid and another drawing has

replaced it.

Note: This requirement does not apply to normal drawing revisions i.e. DO NOT cancel a historical

revision because the next revision of the same drawing has superseded it.

4.5b Reusable Drawing Numbers

If a new drawing number has been allocated either single or as part of a block of numbers and this

number or block of numbers is not required, the issue record in the Superior Drawing

Management System shall be deleted when authorised by the Supervisor/Manager. The drawing

number may then be allocated to other drawings.

4.6 Standard and Fabrication (Shop Floor) Drawings

All Standard and Fabrication (Shop Floor) Drawings shell have Alphabetical revision characters for

all drawings after they have been documented in Superior’s Standard Drawing Register and

incorporated into EXO-NET system as an addition to the part Number, i.e. A0040-D01 – EXO- Code

– A0040-Rev. A.

Revision numbers shall commence at Rev A and increment upwards by one Numerical character

for each approved revision thereafter, i.e. (Rev. A1).
