The number of licensed computers is determined by the net key. The net time key is similar to the net key but with a time limit for use.

If the time key expires, you can apply to SuperMap Software Co., Ltd. to extend the time limit. The stand-alone key and the net key do not have any time limit, but note that you can’t change the system time of the licensed computer.

4 FAQ

Q: Why can't I use the License Configuration tool when I have already in-stalled VC++ 2005 redistributable packages during the installation of Super-Map iServer Java? A: The SuperMap License Configuration tool is dependent on VC++ 2008. Two VC++ redistributable packages, VC++ 2005 and VC++ 2008, are in-cluded in SuperMap iServer Java. The License Configuration tool has differ-ent requirements on the VC++ redistributable package based on the following cases:

(1) If you have installed neither .NET Framework 2.0 (or any of its higher version) nor Visual Studio 2005 (or any of its higher version), you must in-stall both VC++ 2005 and VC++ 2008 redistributable package. For VC++ 2005, press Yes when prompted during the installation process of SuperMap iServer Java. For VC++ 2008, you should install it by running vcred-ist90_x86.exe located in 【SuperMap iServer Java installation directory】\support, after you have finished installing iServer Java.

(2) If you have installed either .NET Framework of any version between 2.0 and 3.5, or Visual Studio of any version between 2005 and 2008, you

Page 25: SuperMap iServer Java Installation Guide...the license.sh file in the SuperMapLCM folder under the installation direc-tory (from the command line, go to the directory the license.sh

don't need to install VC++ 2005 when prompted during the installation process of SuperMap iServer Java. But you must install VC++ 2008 redistri-butable package by running vcredist90_x86.exe located in 【SuperMap iServer Java installation directory】\support, after you have finished installing iServer Java.

(3) If you have installed either .NET Framework 3.5 (or any higher ver-sion), or Visual Studio 2008 (or any higher version), you don't need to install VC++ redistributable package.

For the Linux operating system, two types of license configurations are available: By license file and by hardware key. After the license configuration is completed, a configuration file (SuperMapLic.ini) will be created in [System]:\opt\SuperMap\ License, which you can manage.

2.3.1 File License

Ensure that you have obtained the license from SuperMap Software Co., Ltd.

before you start to configure.

(1) After you finish installing SuperMap iServer Java from the jar package, the

License Configuration tool will run automatically. Also, you may also run

the license.sh file in the SuperMapLCM folder under the installation direc-

2.3.2 Hardware Key

Four kinds of hardware keys are available: the stand-alone key, the stand-alone time key, the net key and the net time key. The stand-alone key has only one license installed on the same computer that SuperMap iServer Java is installed on. The stand-alone time key is similar to the stand-alone key but with a time limit for use. The net key allows the software to be used by multiple licensed computers. You only need to install the net key license on any computer (called license server) within the network and the other computers in the same network are all licensed to use the software. The number of licensed computers is determined by the net key. The net time key is similar to the net key but with a time limit for use.

If the time key expires, you can apply to SuperMap Software Co.,

Page 38: SuperMap iServer Java Installation Guide...the license.sh file in the SuperMapLCM folder under the installation direc-tory (from the command line, go to the directory the license.sh

SuperMap iServer Java 2008 Installation Guide 36

Ltd. to extend the time limit. The stand-alone key and the net key do not have any time limit, but note that you can’t change the system time of the licensed computer.

Before using the hardware key, you need to install the driver for the key. Then you can plug the hardware key in the parallel port or the USB port of the licensed computer. For the net key and net time key, you must install the driver on the license server computer where the License Service must be configured.

Driver:【SuperMap iServer Java Installation Directory】\support\Aladdin\Runtime\RPM

If any hardware key license service is available in the network, you can follow

the steps below to configure the license:

(1) After you finish installing SuperMap iServer Java from the jar package, the

License Configuration tool will run automatically. Also, you may also run

the license.sh file in the SuperMapLCM folder under the installation direc-

tory (from the command line, go to the directory the license.sh is in, and in-

put “sh license.sh .”), to open the License Configuration tool. Click the

2.4 Configuration after Installation

After finishing installing SuperMap iServer Java product, you need to do

some settings such as database configuration and environment variable settings,

so that SuperMap iServer Java can work properly.

2.4.1 Configuration of Database Connection

The datasource type supported by SuperMap iServer Java is database data-

source, so after installing the product, you need to do database configuration.

There should be database server in your network environment, if not, you

need to install database, meanwhile, the database client should be installed on the

machine where you deployed SuperMap iServer Java client side. Next, you can

deploy the database connection on SuperMap iServer Java server side. Here we

take Oracle database for example.

First, configure the local NET service name for database. Navigate to Oracle

database network service configuration directory, for example,

Page 43: SuperMap iServer Java Installation Guide...the license.sh file in the SuperMapLCM folder under the installation direc-tory (from the command line, go to the directory the license.sh

SuperMap iServer Java 2008 Installation Guide 41

“/oracle/10g/network/admin”, in the file “tnsnames.ora” under this directory, you can add your database connection configuration, including SERVICE_NAME,

HOST and PORT.

For example: SuperMap = (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.115.92)(PORT = 1521)) ) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = SuperMap) ) )

2.4.2 Environment Variables Settings

To use SuperMap iServer Java, environment variables settings should be

done, including setting environment variables of database and that of SuperMap

iServer Java.

Under SuperMap iServer Java installation directory, for example,

“/home/map/SuperMapiServerJava_Linux”, you need to create a file, with the

extension of “.profile”, and add the following contents in this file:

For example: export ORACLE_HOME=【up directory of network folder under oracle installation directory】 export ORACLE_LIB=【lib folder under oracle installations directory】 export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib:【SuperMap iServer Java installation directory】/bin:$ORACLE_LIB export UGCROOT=【SuperMap iServer Java installation directory】/support export NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.ZHS16GBK

Page 44: SuperMap iServer Java Installation Guide...the license.sh file in the SuperMapLCM folder under the installation direc-tory (from the command line, go to the directory the license.sh

SuperMap iServer Java 2008 Installation Guide 42

Note: ORACLE_HOME should be set to the directory one level up to “network” folder under oracle installation directory, for example, if the directory of “network” is “/oracle/10g/network”, is should be set to

“ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/10g”. ORACLE_LIB should be set to the up folder

of “lib” folder under oracle installation directory, for example, if the directory of

“lib” folder is “/usr/lib/oracle/10.0.0.2/client/lib”, it should set to

“ORACLE_LIB=/usr/lib/oracle/10.0.0.2/client/lib”.

After finishing setting the environment variables, execute “source .profile”

command to have the environment variables take effect.

You can use “echo” command to check whether the environment variables

have set successfully, for example, “echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH”, or using

“env” command to view the settings of all the environment variables.

2.5 Installation Directory

After finishing the installation and license configuration of SuperMap

iServer Java 2008, there should be 14 folders under installation directory, and

also other three files including “license.txt”, ”readme.htm” and “What's

New.htm”.

4 FAQ

1. Q: Why did I fail to install SuperMap iServer Java 2008 by executing “java

-jar setup.jar”?

Page 48: SuperMap iServer Java Installation Guide...the license.sh file in the SuperMapLCM folder under the installation direc-tory (from the command line, go to the directory the license.sh

SuperMap iServer Java 2008 Installation Guide 46

A: 1. Make sure you have installed JDK;

2. Set the Java environment variables. For example, if the installation

path for JDK is: /usr/java,set as follows: export JAVA_HOME=/usr/java export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH

3. Make sure you are using JDK 1.4 or higher versions. Try the follow-

ing command to check the JDK version you are using: java –version

2. Q: Why can’t the Chinese characters display properly on the install interface

of SuperMap iServer Java?

A: The Chinese character set file is required in the JDK when you install

SuperMap iServer Java Linux Chinese Version by executing “java -jar se-

tup.jar”.

3. Q: Why do the following messages display when I click Verify on the Li-

cense File tab (or click Query on the Hardware Key tab) in the License Configuration dialog: “java.io.FileNotFoundException:

/opt/SuperMap/License/SuperMapLic.ini (Permission denied)” and “chmod:

Change ‘/opt/SuperMap/License/SuperMapLic_U.ini’ authority: Permission

denied”?

A: When you configure the license for SuperMap iServer Java, a license file

SuperMapLic_U.ini will be created in …/opt/SuperMap/License Super-MapLic_U.ini and the configuration information will be written in this file.

So you must have the permissions to write to the /opt directory. Use the

following command to check the permissions on the

/opt/SuperMap/License directory and files: ls –al /opt/SuperMap/License. If “drwxr-xr-x” appears, it indicates only the owner of the directory has the write permissions. In this case, you should configure the license under the

ROOT user in the following ways: execute “sh license.sh .” to start the Li-

cense Configuration tool; or use the chmod command to change write per-missions to all users and then configure; if SuperMapLic_U.ini file has no

write permissions, you still need to change the permissions using chmod.

4. Q: Why does the problem mentioned in Q3 occur when I click Save in the

License Configuration tool?

A: See the answer for Q3.

5. Q: Why do the following messages appear when start.sh fails to start the

GIS server?

A: You need to set the environment variables and set the bin directory for

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/SuperMap iServer Java. Suppose the path of the bin

directory for SuperMap iServer Java is:

/home/map/iServer/SuperMapiServerJava2008, input “export

ROOT user in the following ways: execute “sh license.sh .” to start the Li-

of SuperMap iServer Java? A: The Chinese character set file is required in the JDK when you install

SuperMap iServer Java Linux Chinese Version by executing “java -jar se-

tup.jar”.

3. Q: Why do the following messages display when I click Verify on the Li-

cense File tab (or click Query on the Hardware Key tab) in the License Configuration dialog: “java.io.FileNotFoundException:

/opt/SuperMap/License/SuperMapLic.ini (Permission denied)” and “chmod:

ROOT user in the following ways: execute “sh license.sh .” to start the Li-

cense Configuration tool; or use the chmod command to change write per-

missions to all users and then configure; if SuperMapLic_U.ini file has no

write permissions, you still need to change the permissions using chmod.
