Intended use

The products are used as accessories for supply units from Dräger.

Small equipment polesSmall equipment poles have a diameter of 25 mm and are used to hold devices and accessories.

The retaining ring is used to secure small equipment poles or IV poles at a certain height.

IV polesIV poles have a diameter of 25 mm and are used to hold infusion bottles and infusion bags. In addition, devices and accessories can also be attached.

The retaining ring is used to secure small equipment poles or IV poles at a certain height.

Infusion holdersInfusion holders are used to hold infusion bottles and infusion bags and can be attached to small equipment poles.

Standard railsStandard rails have a cross-section of 25 mm x 10 mm and are used to hold devices and accessories that can be attached to a standard rail.

Special railsSpecial rails have a cross-section of 25 mm x 10 mm and are used to hold devices and accessories. Special rails can be attached to equipment poles, small equipment poles or supply units from Dräger.

Use of terms

Dräger uses the term "accessories" not only for accessories in the sense of IEC 60601-1, but also for consumables, removable parts, and attached parts.

User group requirements

The term "user group" describes the personnel responsible who have been assigned by the operating organization to perform a particular task on a product.

Duties of the operating organization

The operating organization must ensure the following:

– Every user group has the required qualifications (e.g., has undergone specialist training or acquired specialist knowledge through experience).

– Every user group has been trained to perform the task.

– Every user group has read and understood the relevant chapters in this document.

Clinical usersThis user group operates the product in accordance with the intended use.

Users have medical specialist knowledge in the application of the product.

Reprocessing personnelThis user group carries out the necessary activities to reprocess the product.

CompatibilityThe use of incompatible accessories may adversely affect the functional integrity of the product. Personal injury and property damage may occur as a consequence.Use only compatible accessories. The accessories that are compatible with this product are listed in the instructions for use of the basic device, in the list of accessories, and in the supplements included with the product.

Condition of the accessoriesIf the accessory is not securely fastened, it may fall off. Personal injury and property damage may occur as a consequence.– Install accessories to the basic device in

accordance with the instructions for use of the basic device.

– Make sure that there is a safe connection to the basic device system.

Maximum loadIf the maximum load is not observed, the device may become overloaded. The maximum load depends on the customer-specific configuration of the device. The values specified in the instructions for use are maximum values.– The maximum load of the supply unit must

be checked before each use.– Due to the modular design, the maximum

Assembly by the user

The following sections describe the installation of accessories that can be assembled by the user. All accessories must be checked for their functional integrity and safe assembly before being used for the first time. The connection between the supply unit and the accessories must be safe.

Accessories for small equipment poles

A bottle holder with one hook, a shelf, or a rail holder can be attached to small equipment poles. For further information see: "List of accessories", page 38.

Bottle holder with one hook

1 Push the bottle holder with one hook (A) over the small equipment pole from above.

2 Set the bottle holder at the desired height.

3 Screw the adjusting screw (B) in by hand.

Shelf for small equipment pole

1 Undo the adjusting screw (A).

2 Slide the shelf (B) over the small equipment pole from above and set it at the required height.

3 Screw the adjusting screw (A) in by hand.

Standard rails


2 Slide the standard rail (B) from the right or left into the groove on the rail holder.

Cable management accessories or rail holders and the corresponding shelf can be attached on standard rails.

Swivel arm for cables and hoses

1 Undo the adjusting screw (A) by hand.

2 Align the swivel arm (B) with the standard rail (C).

3 Tighten the adjusting screw (A) by hand.

Holder on swivel arm for cables and hoses

1 Pull the holder apart on the hook (A) for cables and hoses using 2 fingers.

2 Put the holder over the swivel arm and let go of it.

Assembly by service personnel

The following sections describe the installation of accessories that can be assembled by service personnel. All accessories must be checked for their functional integrity and safe assembly before being used for the first time. The connection between the supply unit and the accessories must be safe.


Small equipment poles can carry different loads depending on the attachment (see "Technical data", page 32). To secure it at a certain height, the small equipment pole is attached to support arms using a retaining ring. Small equipment poles are attached to mounting systems or attached to standard rails using short or long rail holders or mounting systems. To secure the small equipment pole at a certain height, a retaining ring must be attached to the small equipment pole for each support arm.

Retaining ring

1 Undo the hexagon socket screws (M5x15) on the retaining ring (A).

2 Slide the retaining ring (A) to the desired height on the small equipment pole (B).

3 Tighten the hexagon socket screws (M5x15) on the retaining ring (A).Torque: 1 Nm

4 Push the small equipment pole into the holder of the rail holder or the support arm.

5 Screw the adjusting screw on the support arm or rail holder in by hand.

WARNING

Risk due to exceeding the maximum loadThe retaining ring and small equipment pole are designed for a maximum load (see "Technical data", page 32). This load and the dead weight must be taken into account when calculating the maximum load.– Always tighten the screws on the retaining

ring alternately. – The maximum load specifications must

not be exceeded.

IV poles

IV poles can carry different loads depending on the attachment (see "Technical data", page 32). IV poles are equipped with a bottle cross or bottle bar to which bottles and bags for an infusion or transfusion can be attached. IV poles are attached to mounting systems or attached to standard rails using short or long rail holders or mounting systems. To secure the IV pole at a certain height, a retaining ring must be attached to the IV pole for each support arm.

Retaining ring

1 Undo the hexagon socket screws (M5x15) (A) on the retaining ring (B).

2 Slide the retaining ring over the IV pole from below to the desired height.

3 Tighten the hexagon socket screws (M5x15) (A) on the retaining ring (B).Tightening torque: 1 Nm

4 Push the IV pole (C) into the holder of the rail holder or the support arm (D).

5 Screw the wing screw on the support arm or the adjusting screw on the rail holder in by hand.

6 To change the position of the IV pole, loosen the adjusting screw and the retaining ring briefly, then tighten them again.

2 Place both parts of the adapter (B) on the equipment pole (C) and align them at a right angle.

Standard rail for front rail on media column

1 Attach the two halves of the front rail adapter (A) to the standard rail (D) with the flat washers (B) and align them parallel.

2 Tighten the hexagon socket screws (M6 x10) (E).Tightening torque 6 Nm

3 Fit the two cover caps on the standard rail.

Classifications for reprocessing

Classification of medical devices

The classification depends on the intended use of the medical device. The risk of infection transmission through the application of the product to the patient without proper reprocessing is the basis of the Spaulding classification.

Surface disinfection with cleaning

Components:– Device surfaces of the supply units

Prerequisites:– The surface disinfectant has been prepared in

accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

– The manufacturer's instructions, e.g., regarding shelf life or application conditions, are observed.

– An uncontaminated, lint-free cloth soaked in surface disinfectant is used for the cleaning surface disinfection.

Cleaning1 Wipe off obvious soiling with a disposable cloth

soaked in surface disinfectant. Dispose of the cloth.

2 Wipe all surfaces. After that, there must no longer be any soiling visible.

Surface disinfection3 Wipe cleaned surfaces again to visibly wet all

surfaces to be disinfected with surface disinfectant.

4 Wait for the surface disinfectant contact time.

5 At the end of the contact time, moisten a new, uncontaminated and lint-free cloth with water (at least drinking water quality).

6 Wipe all surfaces until no remains of the surface disinfectant, such as foam residues or streaks, are visible.

7 Wait until the surfaces are dry.

8 Check the surfaces for visible damage and, if necessary, replace the product.

Storage and transport

After reprocessing, there are no special requirements for storage and transport of the product. However, the following must be observed:

– Store dry and free of dust

– Avoid recontamination and damage during transport
