Manufacturers: Types

12-47-402. Manufacturer's license.

12-47-403. Limited Winery License

Manufacturer’s Salesroom’s

Hours of Operation – can sell on premises from 7:00 am until 2:00 am, but off premises sales are from 8:00 am until 12:00 midnight, except Christmas. ( same as retailer rules)

Distilleries – can sell spirituous liquors of its own manufacture at their licensed distillery and one other sales room. Must have a wholesale license to sell to retailers.

Wholesale Beer Store (Taproom) – can sell malt liquor of its own manufacture and can sell malt liquors from any other brewers with a territorial distribution agreement. Can only fill growlers with products of their own manufacture.

Winery – can sell vinous liquors of their own manufacture and other Colorado wineries at the licensed winery and one other sales room.

Limited Winery – Can sell vinous liquors of their own manufacture and other Colorado wineries at their limited winery and five other sales rooms.

Alternating Proprietorships

Can only be used to manufacture malt or vinous liquor, distilleries cannot participate in this program.

Malt Liquor products produced at the alternating proprietorship location may not be sold in their tasting room unless there is a territorial distribution agreement in place.

WholesaleWarehouses or Branch Warehouse Permits

Any manufacturer licensed to manufacture fermented malt beverages, malt, vinous or spirituous liquor may establish and operate as many warehouses as such manufacturer sees fit for the sole purpose of storing, handling, selling, distributing or dealing in products of its own manufacture.

Retailer Samplings

Supplier sponsored consumer sampling events for on premise locations.

Retailers licensed for off premise consumption (hand sales)

Supplier on site giveaways and advertising.

Brand Registrations:

Manufacturer/Importer of any alcohol beverage sold in Colorado must register the product with LED prior to intended date of sale.

Must first obtain from TTB, either a Certificate of Label Approval or a Certificate of Exemption.

All wine and spirits must be labeled.

All beers do not have to be labeled, doesn’t mean it doesn’t need a label, but no all the COLA requirements.

Cost $5.00 per product, can be done via form DR8440 or on the Ship Compliant Product Registration Online system.
