If you are planning to attend the St. Joseph’s Oktoberfest on Sunday, October 7 th starting at 12pm…parking is available at the Phoenix Club. Let’s not forget about our Fix It Satur- day on October 13 th and our Annual Homecoming All Day event on Saturday, October 20 th . More details can be found on the next page. Thank you as always goes out to all of our volunteers for the month of Septem- ber, as we can never do any of this with- out YOU; from kicking off our Monday Bingo nights to the fantastic Sunday Tailgate parties. There were lots of great specials during our Fish & Steak Fry Fri- days and wrapping up our last two Satur- day night events with the Wood Sign Paint & Sip Party and the infamous Outdoor Bowling! The Nominating Committee has been introduced and if you didn’t get a chance to attend the General Membership Meet- ing, the Committee includes: Joan Dodson, Chairperson, Pat Burns, Jules Owen, Randy Korstick, Bob Miller, Ray Melby and Mel Oros. This committee will be looking for those individuals that are interested in volunteering as our Phoenix Club Officers and Board of Trustees. These position descriptions can be found on the bulletin board or just ask one of the Committee members for the informa- tion. You are more than welcome to approach them and share your interest and be sure to let them know why you think you would be a great candidate for that specific position. The nominees will be posted on Wednesday, October 17 th , which is the next General Membership meeting. If your name is not posted on that day and you are interested in run- ning for a position, please ask the bar- tenders for a petition form. You will then need to have 20 members in good stand- ing sign the form. This form cannot be taken out of the club. We are updating some of our Standard Operating Procedures and one of the up- dates is how the Membership Application Process works. Applications can be handed out by the bartenders, however, they must be returned to an officer, board member or Jules, the Manager. This will ensure that all of the information is filled out properly and that photos are attached to those applications. These forms cannot leave the club. As a reminder, we ask that members and guests do not smoke in front of the Dining Room Entrance. The smoking area is over near the picnic tables and in front of the Pool Room Entrance. I have a small request before I sign-off… Please be sure to clean off your table be- fore leaving the club. You can let your guests know it’s what we do at the Phoenix Club. Thank you. LL: Where Did You Grow Up? GO: Born in Aurora, grew up in Montgomery and attended Oswego schools

LL: What brought you to The Phoenix Club? GO: My ex-in-laws were members, I was bartending elsewhere and they informed me about this position. We are still friends and I am still bartending here!

PHOENIX CLUB CLEAN UP-FIX UP SATURDAY

October 13th 9:00AM–1:00PM

Calling all members who might be interested in fixing, painting and cleaning up the Phoenix Club.

We will be posting a sign-up sheet along with all of the jobs we hope to complete on that Saturday.

Tools and paint will be provided. Please let Don Clemen know if you have a specific product

To: The Phoenix Club Monthly Membership Meetings Who: All Phoenix Club Members When: The third Wednesday of each month Next meeting October 17, 2018 When and Where 7:00PM, downstairs at The Phoenix Club How long will the meeting last? 20-30 minutes. What’s on the agenda? The meetings are a great time and place to hear what’s happening at the club and what’s to come. Meet your fellow members and welcome new members. It’s also a good time for you to give your feedback and suggestions on how to help YOUR club keep moving forward. Just remember, if you bring a problem to the board’s attention, we would hope and appreciate to hear what your solution might be for continued improvements. We will read your suggestion that you drop in the box at each monthly meeting. We can’t make any promises, but we can definitely listen and go from there.

UPCOMING ELECTIONS ARTICLE 5 Phoenix Club Bylaws “Election of Officers” Section 1. The election of Officers shall take place at the No-vember General Membership Meeting each year. Candidates for all offices to be balloted on separately and, the successful candidates shall assume office on January 1st of the following year. All officers shall be elected for a one (1) year term and may serve no more than three (3) consecutive terms with the exception of the Recording Secretary and the Financial Secre-tary, after the consecutive terms the member may not run for the same position for one (1) year. ARTICLE 3 Officers & Duties Section 1. Officers of the club shall consist of: President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Financial Secretary, and a Board of Trustees consisting of nine (9) members Section 2. At the November membership meeting, a sufficient number of Trustees shall be elected for a three (3) year term, or to fill out unexpired terms, to maintain the constitutional requirement of a Board of nine (9) Trustees. Trustees shall be limited to two (2) consecutive terms, after the consecutive terms the member may not run for the same position for one (1) year. Section 3. No member is eligible to hold office who has not been a member for at least three (3) years. Any member who is also an employee of the Club is not eligible to hold any of-fice. No member who currently holds an elected position within the Club is allowed to hold an elected position for any other social club, No member who has been convicted of a felony will be eligible to hold office…No member shall hold more than one office, elected or appointed, during the same period. No members who are related by blood may hold office in the Phoenix Club during concurrent or overlapping terms. In the event a member resigns an elected office, without a valid reason, such validity being determined solely by the board of trustees, he or she shall not be eligible for any office for a period of three years from the date of their resignation.

ARTICLE 5 Section 1 Such nominating committee shall submit a report to the board of trustees, recommending the nomination of all offices to be filled. Said nominations shall be posted on the bulletin board no later than the October general meeting, and shall remain there until the end of the November General Mem-bership meeting each year. Any member who is not nomi-nated by the Nominating committee, but wishes to run for any office, or, as a member of the Board of Trustees, shall have a petition signed by (20) members, in good standing with the club. Said petition form provided by the club and is not allowed to leave the club building. The petition shall be posted on the bulletin board fifteen (15) days prior to the day of the election. They shall then automatically become a candi-date for that office.
