‘if’ You Need SupportCoastline understands that it can be difficult for customers to fulfil their aspirations when there are other issues affecting their day to day lives. The support offered in the inspiring futures package aims to help customers overcome these issues and move forward in their journey back into work.

One to One SupportIf you have things going on which are affecting your day to day life and feel like you need someone you can trust to talk to then Coastline can offer up to 5 hours of one to one support to help you get your journey into work back on track.

Cornwall Works HubWho are they? Cornwall Works brings all of Cornwall's back to work support and knowledge together to help more people move into work, stay in work and progress in work.

Are You Affected By The Bedroom Tax?If you are looking to downsize then a member of our Lettings Team can support you to do this. We can put you in touch with a member of our Lettings Team.

One to One Debt AdviceYour debt may have grown from being small and manageable into something that now feels like it’s totally out of your control, by talking to Coastline about your debt concerns we can support you to get professional debt advice from a debt counsellor which will help you to get your journey into work back on track.

Foodbank VouchersIf you are struggling financially and you or any other member of your family are not eating regular meals in order to pay the bills then Coastline can support you by supplying you with a voucher for your local foodbank.

PlussWho are they? Pluss is a social enterprise that supports thousands of people with disabilities and other disadvantages each year to take their first step on the career ladder. Support includes:

Can You Afford To Heat Your Home Adequately?We work in partnership with other agencies that can help you identify ways to save you money on your heating and fuel bills.

PentreathWho are they? Pentreath inspire and support clients through a journey of both personal and vocational (work) development with the aim of securing future employment, education or training. As well as delivering tailor-made information, advice and guidance sessions.

Pentreath recognises that supporting people to access facilities within their local community can help them to develop skills, self-confidence and raise their future prospects and aspirations. Clients are at the very centre of their projects and these are developed to meet their needs, you will also have access to various programmes including vocational and recreational (leisure related) activities through them.

They accept self-referrals from individuals as well as those from professionals such as GPs, Job Centre Plus, Coastline and many other organisations.

‘if’ You Need TrainingCoastline works with the following partners to provide our customers with all their training and up-skilling needs in order to get back into work.

If you are on job seekers allowance, Universal Credit or any other means tested benefit you can probably access these for free.

Work Skills Training Academy

Who are they? Work Skills Training Academy (WSTA) is based at Cornwall College and provides training to the unemployed to give Coastline customers the skills and opportunities to get back into work. They offer various courses including:

Changing Tides – 10 days – This programme is for anyone who is unemployed and requires help in regaining confidence, improving self-esteem and recognising transferable skills to enable Coastline customers to move closer to employment and voluntary work.

CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Course) – 11 days – This is aimed at job seekers who wish to move into the construction industry and require a CSCS card.

ROLO – 1 day – Register of Land based Operatives – A Health & Safety and environmental awareness course aimed specifically at people in land based industries.

Administration – 7 days – This course is aimed at job seekers who are interested in working within an office environment / in an administrative role.

Coracle – 4 days – This course is aimed at job seekers who require motivation and confidence boosting to enable you to take the first steps towards volunteering, further training, work placements or employment.

Contact Line – 6 days – This course is aimed at job seekers who are unemployed and are interested in working within a call centre customer service role.

Employability – 8 days – For job seekers who are interested in gaining further employability skills.

Hospitality – 10 days – Aimed at job seekers that have an interest in the hospitality industry, looking at food hygiene, customer service skills and guest services.

Explore – 10 days – This course is for learners who are interested in building their skills and knowledge in a practical setting, with particular emphasis on horticulture, gardening, hard landscaping and repairs and maintenance.

New Creations – 15 days – This course is aimed at ESA (Employment Support Allowance) claimants and/or the long term unemployed. The course will include accredited units and certification on completion.

Retail – 8 days – This course is for job seekers who are interested in learning more about retail and looking to go into employment in the retail sector.

Production – 5 days – This course is for job seekers who wish to gain an understanding of basic production work in a modern production environment.

Cornwall Neighbourhoods For Change

Who are they? Cornwall Neighbourhoods For Change (CN4C) is a charity and social enterprise who support people who want to make a change for the better. They work alongside local communities to strengthen local voices, improve people’s lives and create better places to live. CN4C provide assistance with literacy and numeracy through to vocational and degree courses. Courses range from 3 days to 20 weeks, an example of the range of courses they offer is below.

Link into Learning

Who are we? Link into Learning is the specialist ‘Skills for Life’ provider within Cornwall Adult Education Service. They offer friendly, flexible help with the essential skills of adult literacy, numeracy, English for speakers of other languages and basic ICT skills. They have 20 learning centres covering all areas of Cornwall offering flexible, highly personalised and fun approaches to teaching and learning, designed to help individuals learn, enjoy and succeed! Courses include:

• Functional Skills in Maths (numeracy) for beginners up to Level 2

Coastline’s Crisis and Support FundThe crisis and support fund is available to help vulnerable people on the inspiring futures package to meet their immediate, short-term needs where they’re unable to themselves.

The fund aims to make a difference for our inspiring futures customers, tackling inequality, and promoting financial wellbeing and social inclusion.

Turn2usTurn2us is a national charity that helps people in financial hardship to gain access to welfare benefits, charitable grants and support services.

VolunteeringCoastline understand the importance of volunteering and how this can build essential on the job skills and confidence.

What is volunteering?

Volunteering is about giving your time to a good cause. You don't get paid, but you do get the chance to use your talents, develop new skills, and experience the pleasure that comes from making a real difference to other people's lives, as well as your own.

Who can do it?

Anyone! Whatever your age, background or work experience, you will have a skill that someone needs. No matter how busy you are, there will be something that you can do. Just contact us.

What can I do?

Anything! (Almost.) You might be interested in working on the 'front line' or perhaps you’d be happier 'behind the scenes'; either way, there’s something for everyone.

ApprenticeshipsAn apprenticeship is the perfect option to allow you to start or keep earning while receiving on and off the job training.

As well as being paid, you can work towards nationally recognised qualifications with the full support of your local college and your employer.

Depending on your apprenticeship you will spend between 1 – 4 years working in a real workplace, spending usually 1 day each week at your local college where you learn new skills that can be applied to your job. Because of the time it takes to complete an apprenticeship, you need to be sure you are prepared to give the apprenticeship your full commitment.

Can I do an apprenticeship?

You can do an apprenticeship if you are:

• 16 years or over and eager to get into the world of work and start earning a wage

• Considering a change of career or want to improve your skills in order to move up the career ladder

Work Placements

Coastline also assist local people take steps to make their future more secure and to gain new skills and experience by offering eight week work placements twice a year. This includes a comprehensive package of training and offers real work experience in a supportive environment.

Can I do a work placement?

Anyone who isn’t currently working can apply to come on our work placement programme, however priority will be given to Coastline customers.

What if I’m working with another agency?

We work with lots of partners who refer their claimants and clients into our work placement programme. If you are currently working with any of the following agencies listed below they can refer you directly into the next work placement programme.

What can I expect if I secure a work placement?

• On the job skills development

• Confidence building

• A portfolio of training including, e-learning, data protection and CV building

• Access to further job search support

• Expenses funded

• A full record of achievement and reference

• Access to a wear to work rail

• Access to a work placement food cupboard

We work closely with local job centres and if you are currently receiving any means tested benefits these will not be affected by taking part in Coastline’s work placement programme.

Is it worth me applying for a work placement?

So far at least 5 out of 10 people on each round of placements have gone into work either during or straight after the programme. Many more have also secured employment or further training after they have finished.
