And don’t forget that you have 4 weeks of classes after your show when we will be exploring a fun and colourful Rainbow play!

Beginners OnStage

page. 3

These next weeks of rehearsals are going to fly by as things get fun, but serious, in preparation for the mid year shows. It’s important that by now you have learned your repertoire so as a group you can now work on polishing the performance. We appreciate how hard students work to give their very best on stage, as does our creative team to put on a great looking show. Miss Mona has some great tips (below) on how to ensure students and audience members have a great experience.

Rehearsal & Performance Schedules (RAPS).

You will all have received an email and hard copy of your Rehearsal and Performance Schedules (RAPS) by the end of the first week of Term 2 classes. This schedule lists all of your rehearsals, workshops (if applicable to you) and performances for the remainder of the Semester so please take careful note of dates.

Ticketing Information.

Ticket booking forms will be distributed via email and in class the first weeks of term which outline your performance date(s).

Beginners and YABC/VYT training level students have one show during the season, performing levels have multiple show dates.

Tickets will go on sale online on May 1st at 9am.

The only phone bookings available on this day are for sibling or wheelchair tickets.

Phone bookings open at 9am on May 2 – (03) 8199 8344.

Uniform & Performance Checklist.

You will be receiving your performance checklist a few weeks out from the shows. These list everything that you will need to bring to the performance including uniform, hair & make-up instructions, additional costume/personal items to bring. Uniform items are available to purchase from your Site Manager.

Performance Apologies.

Four weeks notice is required if you are unable to attend any of the performances listed on your RAPS. These need to be received in writing to [email protected].

Personal Items Please remember to name ALL items you bring to performances, including all shoes and water bottles. We try hard to return misplaced items to their owners, but without your name it’s impossible, particularly with identical uniform items.

DO NOT bring any valuables to the theatre (e.g. Cash or your mother’s favourite fancy lipstick).

No Phones Backstage!

To protect everyone’s privacy, the use of mobile phones backstage is strictly prohibited.

Show Photos.

Taking photos and video of the shows is not allowed in the National and Union Theatres.

A&R Event Photography take shots of all the performances and a link will be sent to you to purchase a memento of your child’s show.

Rehearsals & Upcoming Performance Season

Miss Mona’s Important for Students

Backstage at the shows is very exciting but also very busy, so it’s important for you to be organised and stay focused.

Come wearing your uniform, make-up done and your hair styled (more information on hair & make-up will come out with the Performance Checklist). Pack a healthy snack (no hot food) and your water bottle in a bag, along with the any additional items like a hairbrush etc. all with your name on it.

Make sure to name absolutely everything you bring including both shoes. Do not bring any valuables.

Parents & Guardians

Students are to be dropped off prior to the show at the theatre at their call time – all details will be on the Performance Checklist. Particularly for young children, a toilet stop beforehand would be appreciated since students will get straight into their stage rehearsal shortly after arrival.

Parking can be challenging. We recommend leaving ample time to find a parking spot and allow time to walk to theatre. Visit our website for parking options.Everyone works very hard to put on a high quality show, in particular the students

Etiquette Corner

the audience is coming to see, so we appreciate our guests to adhere to the levels of deportment one would normally expect at a theatrical performance. Video and photography is prohibited in the theatre, please refrain from talking during the show.

If young children cry or become agitated during the show, please take them into the lobby to settle. The ushers will assist to readmit you in returning to your seats.
