Employment of surgical technologists is projected to grow. Several factors will lead to demand, including advances in medical technology resulting in safer surgeries and more operations being performed to treat a variety of illnesses and injuries.

SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY

Population growth has spurred the need for surgical technologists, who are in demand throughout the nation in hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and clinics. As an allied health professional, the surgical technologist works to ensure patient safety in settings that involve invasive procedures. They possess expertise in the theory and use of sterile and aseptic techniques and apply their knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, instruments and technology to facilitate a physician’s performance in the operating environment.

National Certified Surgical Technologist Exam Pass Rates: For the most recent cohort, the BSC Surgical Technology Program has a 100% pass rate on the exam.
