THIRD PARTY REPRODUCTION For women and men who are unable to use their own eggs

or sperm, those who want to parent without a partner and same sex couples, pregnancy may be achieved using donor eggs, donor sperm and/or a gestational carrier (GC) who will carry the baby to term for the intended parent(s). Certain ge-netic conditions may also necessitate using a third party.

Every patients circumstances are unique and require a varying level of oversight and sensitivity- which is why we have assembled a team of professionals specializing in third

party reproduction. Our staff understands the complex nature of these assisted reproductive therapies and is prepared to patiently walk you, your partner and your donor/GC through this process.

The Fertility Center of Las Vegos works with agencies that provide careful screening and uphold strict criteria for egg and sperm donation and gestational carriers.This is to ensure the highest medical safety and also protects future parents from potential legal complications.

LGBT Parenting We understand that single, gay, lesbian and transgender patients often

endure social challenges in association with their pursuit of having a child. The Fertility Center of Las Vegas is dedicated to facilitating greater ease and comfort on your journey to parenthood. Available services include Donor Sperm Insemination, Donor Sperm IVF, Donor Egg and Gestational Carriers as welt as other individualized options.

Donor Sperm Insemination/DMFor single female patients, lesbian couples or heterosexual couples with

male-factor infertility, a sperm donor can be selected through a sperm bank or known donor. We will assist you with the process of obtaining donor sperm and can help arrange for shipment and storage of the specimen prior to

treatment. Patients also have the option to use a known sperm donor. Once the donor sperm is obtained it will then be used in an insemination (IUI) cycle or with an In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) cycle.

IVF with Egg Donor & Gestational Carrier (GC)A Gestational Carrier is a woman who agrees to carry a baby through a

pregnancy for an individual or couple. She only provides a host uterus for the baby but does not contribute genetic material. The embryo is created using an egg from a female intended parent or an egg donor which is fertilized by sperm provided by a male partner or a sperm donor. IVF with Donor Egg & Gestational Carrier can be performed for a variety of individuals including: Single Female, Lesbian, Gay and Heterosexual Couple patients.

Bruce Shapiro, MD, PhD, FACOG Founder, The Fertility Center of Las Vegas

Dr. Bruce Shapiro completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Yale New Haven Hospital, finished his fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Yale University, and earned his Ph.D. in the Netherlands at the University of Amsterdam. Dr. Shapiro is Specialty Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is Subspecialty Board Certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Following his fellowship at Yale, Dr. Shapiro was re-cruited to establish the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology for the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Upon moving to Las Vegas, he founded the city’s first infertility practice, The Fertility Center of Las Vegas.

The Fertility Center of Las Vegas is renowned for research that advances the science and practice of reproductive endocrinology. Dr. Shapiro has presented his research findings at professional conferences around the world. His research papers are widely and regularly published in respected medical journals.

Dr. Shapiro has developed techniques that make In Vitro Fer-tilization safer and more effective than ever before. His current research focuses on maximizing embryo implantation through careful attention to both embryo development and the receptivity of the endometrium.This research has led to some of the highest reported success rates in the United States.

Dr. Shapiro remains on faculty as Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Ne-vada School of Medicine, where he teaches medical students and residents.

Said T. Daneshmand, MD, FACOG Practice Director, The Fertility Center of Las Vegas

Dr. Said Daneshrnand completed his residency and fellowship training at UCLA Medical Center and is Subspecialty Board Certi-fied in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Always com-mitted to research, Dr. Daneshmand focused his studies on the effect of female age on ovarian reserve and contributed to the development of a blood test to determine the quality of eggs in the ovaries. Additionally, during his time in medical school, he authored A Guide to Residency Application, a text for medical students.

After joining The Fertility Center of Las Vegas i n 1999, Dr. Daneshrnand was integral in establishing the region’s first egg freezing program. He collaborated with his partner, Dr. Bruce Shapiro, to develop IVF protocols to improve pregnancy rates, including PTEC (post thaw extended culture), one of the most successful IVF regimens currently available. Their groundbreak-ing findings were published in the internationally respected medical journal, Fertility and Sterility where Dr. Daneshmand has also served as a reviewer. Additionally, Dr. Daneshmand and Dr. Shapiro’s voluminous research has been presented at both national and international conferences and IVFreports.org has recognized The Fertility Center of Las Vegas for stellar pregnan-cy rates.

Currently, as the Practice Director at The Fertility Center of Las Vegas, Dr. Daneshmand’s special interest lies in developing pro-tocols for patients undergoing IVF, especially those patients with previous unsuccessful cycles.

I am a mother of three beautiful children; Lay-lah (10), Amayah (9) and Asyaiah (7). My husband, Lorenzo, and I have been married for 11 years. He has served in the Military for a decade. Although being a military family comes with challenges, it has also made us stronger. For us, becoming par-ents was our dream come true and we completed our family at a young age. I truly love being preg-nant and wanted to help other couples, who were faced with obstacles, start a family.

My first journey began five years ago. I met the intended parents; we instantly connected and were excited to get started. Soon after, I found out I was pregnant with a baby girl. In December of 2008 their beautiful healthy baby was born. When you see how much love parents have for their newborn it makes the experience so satisfying. I am grateful to be part of that miracle.

My second surrogacy journey was an experi-

ence full of love but also loss. For this journey I decided to help a gay couple start a family. After meeting the dad’s we were all excited to move forward. We implanted one embryo and five days later got the positive results. I was pregnant! Both dads flew to my hometown for the big gender re-veal. I knew the gender, because of a previous ul-trasound so I made them a cake and inside it was the color blue for a baby boy. We cut the cake and the dad’s found the exciting “color” announcing their son! The due date approached fast and that summer their healthy baby was born.

I went into my second surrogacy thinking we may do a sibling project, meaning I would help them have another baby. But a year ago we heard some devastating news. The biological fa-ther found out he had brain cancer. He was strong and fought hard, but lost his battle in March of 2013. The last year was really hard for us all.

Even though I had only known him for a little more than two years it was like losing a family member. It breaks my heart to say that cancer took his life but it did not take away all of the love we have for him. Before he got sick one of his goals was to start a surrogacy agency and help others find the joy that he and his partner found through the process. He knew I had always wanted to work for an agency as well. I wanted to not only be a sur-rogate but I be able to connect others and help them on their path of becoming parents. I recently was hired to to work for Expect Miracles. This is another dream come true because I am not only doing this for me but for the amazing man we lost. I hope he is proud of me for achieving this goal. I love getting the chance to show that surrogacy is a very positive experience. It is my passion. I am here to help others and be the best mom, wife, friend and surrogate I can be.

We work with professionals in almost every state for contracts and med-ical procedures needed as well as IVF services in Mexico. Anyone can become a parent through Surrogacy in California. Our clients come from all walks of life and every corner of the world. They all have one thing in common - a burning desire to become a parent or parents.

The most important thing to have a successful relationship between IP’s and Surrogate’s is honesty. No matter your needs or background we can find a Surrogate that is a good match for you. One of the rules for success through Surrogacy is this, it doesn’t matter where you’re coming from; all that mat-ters is where you’re going. COMPANY OVERVIEW Expect Miracles Surrogacy was founded in Northern California in late

2006. We originally contracted with IVF Michigan that has 5 clinics in Michi-gan and Ohio. The first two years we limited our clients to patients of IVF MI. In 2008 with the economy struggling and the laws in many of the Mid-West-ern States becoming less and less favorable toward Surrogacy we moved the office to Southern California and started working with several San Diego and Los Angeles area IVF clinics in addition to our clients from IVF MI. For the last four years our growth and doubled each year.

Based on the % of growth we continue to see we expect our Agency to double again this year, 2014. We have added 4 staff members since Jan. 1st and continue to locate more qualified case workers in order to assure the women that act as surrogates have the resources they need to do a good job for the parents that they carry for. 80% of our clients are international. We have procedures to help with every step to ensure that even with the distance their surrogate is healthy and their child is getting the best possible care.

This year we are excited to add the only Guarantee Program by a suc-cessful Agency in the U.S. that offers a full refund to couples who are not successful in two years. We have had about 10% of our Intended Parents not achieve the goal of having a child due to the high costs to continue IVF treatments if the first cycle does not work. This option solves that issue and we look forward to assuring the EVERYONE goes home with a baby in the end!

CHRISTY ANDERSONCEO FOUNDER OF EMS Christy founded the Agency in 2006 when she started researching Surrogate Agencies for her own needs of becoming a mother and became very disappointed by the options and services offered by the Agencies that were available with California Surrogates. They were typically operated by Lawyers who just provided profiles of sur-rogates but failed to see how the surrogates needed to be screened and the concern of Intended Parents. The other option was Agencies operated by former Surrogates. The Surrogate run Agencies only saw surrogacy as a way to get the most for other Surrogates and also did not supply high quality Surrogates that Christy would be willing to trust in carrying her child. She saw what was missing was an Agency operated in the effort to advocate for the Intended Par-ents in finding them the best Surrogates, providing the highest level of background screening and psychological evaluations. The unique thing Christy continues to bring to the Agency is her interview with each approved Surrogate Candidate.

JON ANDERSONCO-CEO DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONSJon joined the company when operations were moved to Southern California in 2008. Jon is a father through Surrogacy to a daughter born in 2010. He is active in the day to day operations of Expect Miracles Surrogacy. He coordinates outside contracts with doctors, negotiates with insurance and web design contracts. Daily he does the initial new Intended Parent intake and assists them in applying to the Agency. He coordinates appointments for Intended Parents and oversees the staff that monitors the Surrogates. Jon is dedicat-ed to making Surrogacy a positive experience for everyone involved with the final goal a healthy infant to complete a family.

THEIR PREREQUISITES:They need to currently have a stable home life and a positive health history in both previous pregnancies and in general. Additionally, they need to be emotionally equipped to care for the pregnancy and child as they would in any long term childcare situation without forming a parental bond.

THEIR SCREENING:The screening and selection procedures are strict as surrogacy is commercial and subject to professional regulation. Screening in-cludes in depth interviews, background checks, medical approval by her maternal doctor, medical records and physical exam performed by the qualified IVF physicians.

THEIR BACKGROUND:Our Surrogates come from stable homes with supportive families and friends. They have found pregnancy to be pleasurable. They feel skilled and confident about participating in a surrogacy arrangement.

THEIR CONFIDENCE:Our surrogates are highly confident from the start about the medicalprocess, their ability to look after the well being of the baby and the birth. They make their decisions with informed consent, an understanding of what the surrogacy arrangement requires and a confidence that they can carry through with their initial decision to participate in Surrogacy.

THEIR REASONS:They come to these arrangements on their own terms with a sense of empowerment wanting to do something special and unique with their life.

BUSINESS INTRODUCTIONWhether you are the Surrogate Agency, In-

tended Parent or Attorney you want the assur-ance that no funds will change hands until ALL of the instructions in the transaction have been followed. Allison-McCloskey Escrow Company has the obligation to safeguard the funs and/or doc-uments while they are in the possession of the escrow holder, and to disburse funds as required.

Be sure to choose Allison-McCloskey Escrow Company an independent licensed escrow provid-er who is 100% neutral, and whose sole business is providing escrow services. We are licensed by the Department of Business Oversight (DBO), who requires adherence to the most stringent stan-dards in the industry.

THE ESCROW PROCESSThe escrow process begins with the signing

of escrow instructions by the clients (Intended Parents) and the Surrogate Agency, if any. The ini-tial deposit is deposited into the escrow account and surrogate fees and bills are paid from this account. Any request for funds from this account will require the signatures form the Agency and /or Intended Parent and will be paid directly by the Allison-McCloskey Escrow Company to each request. After all bills and fees related to the Sur-rogacy agreement have been paid, any refund due is issued to the client (Intended Parents) and the escrow account is closed.

Allison-McCloskey Escrow Company has been working with Surrogate Agencies for 12 years and many Attorneys have recommended us to their Surrogate Agencies.

We also handle Egg Donation Agreements, but special language is required to assure the anonymity of the donor, so please notify us when opening escrow.

If we had been able to get married in our state sooner, we would have done so long ago. We met back in 2005 while studying abroad in Madrid, Spain. Now, nine years later we will be among the first gay couples married in Illinois after the same-sex marriage law takes effect in June of 2014. This opens the door for the next step, starting a family, because it allows legal parental protection. We don’t want to have a child to fulfill our own needs, but rather to sacrifice part of our life to give to a baby. We are at the point in our lives where we are ready for that opportunity.

After many hours of research we found Expect Miracles Surrogacy and noticed that they had a financial assistance program, we applied and started the journey together. We are so grateful for the medical advances and to organizations like this one that have opened the possibility for people like us

to start a family. We want to make parenthood as equal as possible so we’ve decided both of us will be donors. It will make it that much more special to have two babies with each other’s DNA. This will be as close as we can get to having children together and completing our family.

With a very strong support system and our families behind us 100%, we feel equipped to face the difficulties and challenges of raising children as a same gender couple. Our families will be by our side every step of the way and are especially excited for grandchildren! We’ve waited a long time to make this official and in the process show others you don’t have to fit into a “traditional mold” to start a family. Everyone should have the opportunity to an enriching life full of acceptance and that’s the type of life our children will be brought into.

Meeting the love of your life, getting married and starting a family is a dream shared by many; however the right to get legally married is still denied in certain states to same sex couples. Last fall the state of Illinois passed a law to recognize gay marriage. For Tom Neal and Mario Cruz-Lopez, who have been together for almost a decade, this news couldn’t have come sooner. But an even bigger opportunity is right around the corner, the newlyweds will be starting a family through surrogacy.
