Project Idea

• My project is all about geometry. We will survey different places and look for different shapes and angles in real life applications. And what are the practical usage of geometry in different areas.

• Everywhere in the world there is geometry, mostly made by man. Most man made structures today are in a form of Geometric shapes. Well some examples are: CD, rectangular prism. Buildings, cars, rockets, planes, maps are all great examples

Page 3: SURVEY

• This is a picture with some basic geometric structures. In this picture the door way is a rectangle, and the wooden panels on the side of the house are made up of planes and lines. The panels are also shaped in the shape of squares. The house itself is half a cylinder.

EXAMPLES

Page 4: SURVEY

• This is the Hancock Tower, in Chicago. In this picture there are 3D shapes. The tower is formed by a large cube. The other structure is made up of a cone. There is a point at the top where all the sides meet, and which makes it a cone

• 1. What are different shapes you see in this picture?

• 2. What are the kinds of angles you see in this picture?

SURVEY• Overview of the Project: This project intends to engage in the rediscovery

of different kinds of angles and shapes from cultural context. We will visit the village. We will explore the existence of different types of angles in the different parts of the building. We will then write a report of observation and findings and make a presentation in the class. We will work in the groups of three. We will be involved in the visit to different areas by each group. And the final report will be published in the school magazine.
