proposed Capital Value Rating scheme. I am only sorry that the public meeting for Karamea was a last minute addition to

the schedule and that there were no well informed BOC

council staff or councilors who were personally familiar with

the previous attempt at the rates revamp who were available

to attend. It meant that there was little opportunity for a more meaningful discussion and dissemination of thoughts and

ideas in a oublic forum. This was disaooointlna and mavbe

system seems very complicated but can appreciate diversity

and rurality of our area Town dwellers appear to be carrying

heavier burden. I support further exploration of capital rating

I oppose Capilal value rates being applied to the Buller district at this time. I see it as deterring environmental

progress in the rural sector. I believe Buller needs to do a lot

more growing before this could be considered as an option. I

oppose the rural rate differential being set at 1 along with

residential. I prefer 0. 75 as do many other SI Councils. I

support the May Chen submission. I support some of the Federated Farmers submission. Rates are for services
