The hotel has no reception, all participants will get a text message to their phone with

information about their room number and door code. This text should be sent within 24h

before check-in. In case of problem contact the organizing committee (Sweden@esnseabattle.org).

Sergel’s torg Walking down Drottninggatan you will find Systembolaget. Have you ever wondered why liquor is so expensive in Sweden? And why you can’t find

alcohol with a higher percentage than 3,5 in the normal supermarkets? The

reason for this is that the Swedes simply drank so much alcohol back in the days, using up all the grain and potatoes for making alcohol. Most

men in the country abused alcohol, but not the women, because it wasn’t

considered appropriate for them to drink. As Systembolaget is the only

place that sells alcohol, that explains why the prices are high – it’s a

monopoly. Also, taxes on alcohol are high.

The Royal Palace

As every good castle or palace needs to have, the royal palace in Stockholm of course has its own ghost story.

Every time before a member of the royal family is about to die, the white lady

appears. Last time she was seen the first of May 1920. The flag on top of the palace

was on half-mast, and the guards were wondering why that is. One of them went

up to check on it, but didn’t return. A second guard went to look for the first one, and found him on the stairs, shaking. He

was scared out of his mind and just repeated over and over again that he had

seen the white lady. That same night, Princess Margaret died. She had earlier

had a surgery to remove a growth behind her ear, but it wasn’t a complicated

surgery and everyone was sure she would be fine

Storkyrkan This is Stockholm Cathedral. It is as old as the city itself, so over 750 years old, but the exterior was remade in the 18th century, to match the new royal palace. This is where most royals have been crowned and gotten married throughout the centuries.

Stortorget (the great square) is one of the most famous sites in Stockholm. It used to be the center of the city and is surrounded by buildings from the 1600. Stortorget is the location of the Stock Exchange Building, which houses the Swedish Academy, the Nobel Museum and the Nobel Library. In 1520, something terrible occurred on this square - which goes under the name of the Stockholm bloodbath. Denmark wanted revenge for being defeated

Mårten Trotzigs Gränd, This is a very narrow alley and is the most photographed place in Stockholm. At the most narrow place, this alley is only 90 cm wide. Mårten Trotzig was a merchant from Germany, later becoming one of the richest merchants in Stockholm, who bought many of the houses at this street so that he could have it renamed after him.
