Mission:Mission: To restore three major systems1) Natural and biological systems:
plant, animal, agriculture and food production, aquaculture, water recycling, nutrient cycle, composting, and others.
2) Built-environment systems:energy-efficient buildings, building materials, waste management / Recycling energy harvesting, i.e.
1. PV, 2. solar hot water,3. wind power.
3) Human and social systems:
community building, interpersonal and organizational
behavior, facilities operation.
Historical Retrospect:Historical Retrospect:80’s – Programming began in graduate studios.’90 – ‘92 Schematic design & fund-raising began.’93 – Construction started, Dougherty + Dougherty
as the architect of record.’94 – LCRS occupied with students and faculty.’96 – USGBC LEED rating criteria was initiated.’01 – Refurbish part of deteriorated wood siding.’05 – Current MSRS program started.

• Financially viable• Matured technology• Easy integration with other materials • Achievable “green” strategies• Renewable resources• Recycled potentials
Renewable ResourcesRenewable Resources
• Prior to the beginning of Forest Stewardship Council and Certified Wood
• From fast growing trees – young trees• Non-toxic sealer – soak in linseed oil• Maximize young tree with 6” plank
