Join us in Oaxaca, Mexico for a Witness for Peace delegation March 7 – March 14, 2018 This delegation will focus on a farmer-to-farmer exchange of traditional agricultural knowledge that centers on a communal vision of life. Oaxaca is considered the birthplace of corn and participants will learn about the local food system and models of sustainable agriculture that are in resistance to corporate agricultural interests. Join us to meet with Indigenous communities and organizations that are fighting for their rights to land and way of life in the midst of human right violations. U.S. foreign policy including free trade agreements, the Drug War, and militarization play a role in displacing rural communities. In the face of threats, indigenous communities in Oaxaca are organizing to prevent contamination of native corn, maintain traditional systems of agriculture and build models that continue to favor people and the environment.
