INTRODUCTIONThe Eswatini Standards Authority (SWASA) is a corporate body established by the Eswatini Government through the enactment of the Standards and Quality Act No. 10 of 2003. The mandate of the Authority is to be the national custodian and advocate for the use of standards and quality principles in Eswatini. SWASA began its operations in the year 2007 with the appointment of the Council, Management and Staff.

Vision

To be the recognised centre of excellence and preferred supplier of services relating to

the use of standards in Eswatini.

Mission

To promote quality principles and facilitate the use of standards to reduce technical

barriers to trade and investment and to provide technical support for SMME and

industrial development in order to ensure a sustainable Swazi economy.

The scope of this code covers hygiene provision for raw meat, meat preparation and manufactured meat from time of live animal production up to the point of retail sale. It further develops The Recommended International Code OF Practice: General Principles of Food Hygiene’’ in respect of these product.
