Final Luncheon For New College Group Is Held
The final picnic luncheon in a series of Informal pre-openmg social events at Palos Verdes college, newly organized two-year college in Rolling Hills, was held on Saturday afternoon. The col lege, a private, non-profit, coedu atlonal institution which opens 'or the first time on Sept. 18, vill hold one more picnic, ex clusively for students, their
ids and families, on Satur day Sept. 6.
Dr. Richard P. Saunders, first president of Palos Verdes col lege, and Mrs. Saunders, were hosts to the group of friends and sponsors of the college who {fathered on the campus to dis cuss the new institution's aims and plans.

She has done research work with social agencies in Pendle Hill, tutoring Mexican students. She has been the direc tor o£ the Student Union at Rhode Island State college and has just completed work as dean of the night school at Burton Junior college in Charlotte, N.. C. Miss Lockwood will arrive Sept. 8 to assume her new duties and will be a member of the San Ped- ro staff with full time to be de voted to Torrance YWCA work.
