VenueURBN Corporate Campus

(home to anthropologie, bhldn, free people, urban outfitters, & terrain)

The Navy Yard is a dynamic, sustainable urban campus that arose from the re-markable transformation of the former Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, one of the nation’s oldest shipyards. Built from the shell of a dilapidated navy shipyard, the 100+ year old campus of Urban Outfitters has breathed creative life back into the once industrious building complex with exquisite design elements and fresh plant life throughout the space.

Teachers & WorkshopsMost of our instructors have been featured in Sweet Paul Magazine & are well-known,

Demographics & Reach

Testimonials“As an ophthalmologist and mother of four children five years old and under, this retreat was much needed nour-

ishment for my soul. I came away feeling refueled and energized by not only the workshops but the meals that

were individual works of art in their flavor and presentation. I made friends with creative minds from around

the world and was inspired to return to my everyday life with new vigor and the reminder from Sweet Paul that

“perfection is boring.”

“Once in awhile, something happens to you that can only be described as magic. Yes, yes. It might seem strange to

describe a crafty weekend as ‘magic’, but it really, really was. What made the weekend so amazing was how I felt

while there, and how I still feel. More than ever before, I felt connected to a community of truly brilliant people,

to my friends, to my family, to myself.“

“You know how it goes when it comes to retreats… It is so hard to justify the expenses, leave the kids, husband,

push work deadlines, etc, just to go to Art Camp. At middle age…. God forbid! Not to mention having to show

up alone, just as you are, with a suitcase full of art supplies, camera gear and old dreams. Not one bit easy, I know.

Who has the luxury, right? But let me tell you… It is so worth it. The inspiration, creativity, sense of commu-

nity, camaraderie… All the new friendships. So so worth it... So much beauty in one place and event, my heart

can barely take it!”

“What has emerged this past week is a remarkable thing. It is a beautiful young sapling that has emerged... and

will continue to take root and grow as we return again and again to bask in the fierce shade that it will cast as we

learn to bring our true selves to this magical experience called the Makerie.”

“I wanted to thank you for putting together such a special event. It is exactly what I needed at this time in my

life. The word I gave in the circle this morning was cherished. Beyond welcome you made us feel special and

important. The little details, the signs, lunches and the stack of quilts are a lot of effort and often go overlooked.

They were not overlooked by us. It was what made this more than a weekend art camp. Often we are the types of

people who do those little touches for others but rarely (if ever) does anyone do them for us. And that is why I

felt cherished. I plan to be back next year.”
