Before we beginNEVER DANCED BEFORE?Why not give it a try? Everyone can take part in dance. Our class programme offers an inspirational experience of quality dance, accessible to all comers – regardless of age, gender or current level of ability. All our classes are taught by qualified experienced dance professionals and the emphasis is on the enjoyment of learning about dance in a welcoming environment. WHERE ARE THE CLASSES HELD?All classes are held in the studios at Swindon Dance.Our address is... Swindon Dance, Regent Circus, Swindon SN1 1QFInformation concerning access can be found on the inside back cover. FACILITIESSwindon Dance has three professionally equipped dance studios, changing rooms and showers. Two studios have sprung floors. CAN I PAY-ON-THE-DAY?Yes, you can turn up at the advertised time and pay on the day for many of our classes.However, some classes do require enrolment, in which case you would be enrolling for one term (ten to twelve weeks - term lengths vary). These classes are indicated in the schedule as booking required. TERM DATES: Monday 11th January – Thursday 1st April 2010 incl Pay-on-the-day classes continue throughout the term. There is a half term holiday for some classesthat require enrolment: February 15th – 19th. CLASS LEVELS LEVEL 1: Suitable for beginners or those with no experience in class style. Popular classes, so arrive early as places cannot be guaranteed

LEVEL 2: For those who have already learned the basic principles and are ready to work at a faster pace LEVEL 3: For those who have attended other classes for at least two years or have had previous dance training - these classes are challenging and require good technical knowledge. AGE GROUPSAdult classes are intended for anyone over 16 years of age. You will find guidance to suitable age groups with the details for each class.

WHAT DO I WEAR?It's a good idea to wear comfortable loose-fitting clothing that you can move in freely.Choice of footware depends on the dance style - start with something lightweight and comfortable.Sometimes its preferable to have bare feet. More information is available at reception and fromthe teachers.

14-21 years

Swindon Dance's performance group, Swindon Youth Dance Company(SYDCo), has gone from strength to strength in the last ten years. Many ofits ex members are now professional dancers – with careers in companiessuch as Rambert Dance Company – or are training professionally.

The emphasis of the group's work is choreography and the making and performing of dance. As well as performing its work at Swindon Dance, the company often represents us at regional youth performance platforms.Entry is by audition in September each year.

Dance can contribute to our overall wellbeing – it can keep us fit on the inside as well as the outside, since it exercises the body, mind and spirit. Dance is increasingly recognised as a positive route to overall healthy living and a great way to get those endorphins flowing.

Many of the classes and dance groups are designed for young adults and children. This is a direct result of our policy to provide opportunities for young people to experience the magic of dance and tap into their natural creativity, imagination and expressiveness.

Classes at Swindon DanceDO I NEED TO BOOK?Many classes do not require bookings, they are pay-as-you-go. You can come along at the indicated time and pay for the class you want to attend that day. However, the classes in this lea�et marked booking required do need to be booked in advance. Bookings may be made in person, over the phone or by post. We accept most credit / debit cards. Please make cheques payable to Swindon Dance.

HOW MUCH DO THEY COST?Prices for both pay-on-the-day sessions and classes that require booking are listed below. All o�er great value for money. There are two types of concessionary card... Dance Card, available from Swindon Dance, which gets you 10 classes for the price of 9. It's open to all and can be used for any pay-as-you-go class, but not enrolled classes. You need to bring it with you each time you attend and get it marked at reception. SwindonCard, available from Swindon Borough Council. If you have one of these, the centre column of the price list is for you. If your SwindonCard is marked Concession 2, the right hand column is for you.

DIRECTIONS AND ACCESS We are located at the top of Regent Street, one of the main pedestrianised shopping thoroughfares. Look for the red brick building with a clock tower. Swindon train station and bus station are only 10 minutes away. From the train station, cross the road and turn right then left into Bridge Street. Bridge Street becomes Regent Street. Off-street parking is readily available. Closest are the Wyvern Theatre and College car parks. The Wyvern has disabled parking and a pedestrianised route to Swindon Dance. There are four 4-hour disabled parking bays outside Swindon Dance. Swindon Dance welcomes wheelchair users. There is wheelchair access to the ground floor and a lift to the upper level. Public areas have automatic doors. There are disabled toilet facilities on the ground floor.
