As Signer is dragged along a Swisscountry road, a herd of dairy cows gallopalongside him, as if captivated by the surrealscene. By decontextualizing the familiar,Signer expands, in a humorously subversive

As part of its effort to renew our relationshipto the digital world, and under the title of LazyBytes, the EPFL+ECAL Lab collaboratedwith the Kudelski Group to invite four majordesign schools to rethink the remote control:the Royal College of Art in London, ENSCI-Les Ateliers de Paris, Parsons The NewSchool for Design in New York, and theECAL/University of Art and DesignLausanne. To concentrate on the value of theobject in relation to the user, the projectswere given the freedom to limit the number offunctions. The results fit well alongside morecomplex interfaces for controlling ourdomestic environment. They aim to challengeand renew our daily relationship with thedigital world.
