Swissvax is a comprehensive car caresystem. It consists of integrated washing, cleaning and nourishing products.

Like many unique products, our waxeswere originally designed around thefamily kitchen table. The old Anwanderchemist’s shop in Zurich was both thelaboratory and the production site forthe first tins of “Antikwachs” – a waxformulation specially developed forantique furniture and lacquers.

Since producing those first tins of pre-cious “Antikwachs”, the Anwander familyhas devoted itself to paints, lacquersand waxes for over three generations. The natural waxes for cars were originally produced solely for the useof Hans Anwander, the grandfatherand the founder of the company. Overthe years, the original formulationshave been continually adapted inresponse to customer needs, environ-mental requirements and technologicalchanges.

The Swissvax products are still blendedand each tin filled exclusively by handto this day. The high-quality ingredientsand the complex formulas do not per-mit industrial production.

In our passion to manufacture the bestwaxes and car products, we simplyrefuse to make any compromises. Weinvite you to experience the Swissvaxsensation that makes our products sofamous throughout the world.

WAX MANUFACTURERS SINCE 1930

The Swiss reputation for quality andprecision is echoed in our products. For over three generations, we atSwissvax have been dedicated carenthusiasts and collectors. Our uniqueproducts do not have to meet salestargets or a production budget, whichis what makes them what they aretoday – top-quality care products fromperfectionists for perfectionists.

Unlike conventional polishes, Swissvaxwaxes do not contain abrasives andcan be used on all types of paintwork, including even old nitro lacquers, modern water-based paint systemsand so-called nanopaints.

The Swissvax system consists of twocomponents: a cleaning prewax oiland the wax itself. The waxes are easyand pleasant to apply. No whiteresidue is left and the waxes do notbuild up on rubber seams or alongedges.

Carnauba is the world’s hardest, purest, most transparent and also mostexpensive natural wax. It is harvestedfrom the upper side of the leaves ofthe «Copernica prunifera», a fan palmnative to Northern Brazil, and is gradedaccording to colour and clarity. Thehighest quality is classified as raregrade-one carnauba and is used in ourSwissvax waxes. The level of shineincreases with the percentage of car-nauba used in a wax formulation. While conventional car waxes have acarnauba wax content of about 3 to5%, Swissvax formulations contain 30%to over 76% by volume (one of thehighest concentrations available onthe market).

Unlike ordinary polishing waxes thatsimply polish a paint surface shiny, while the lower layers of paint dry outand slowly “starve”, the Swissvax car-nauba formulations, enriched withpassion fruit, orange, avocado andvanilla oils, restore the deep shine tothe paintwork, resulting in an intense, unique “wet look” which has long beenthe delight of collectors and enthu -siasts around the world.

Before washing

To ensure that the work of the car washis not ruined immediately, always startby cleaning the wheels.

Wheel cleaning

Brake dust can cause permanent dam-age to the surface of your rims, so youshould never forget the wheels whenwashing the car. Only thorough andregular care of your wheels will ensurethat your rims remain a highlight ofyour vehicle.

For best protection and shine, washyour wheels regularly. Follow theinstructions in Swissvax AutobahnWheel Wax.

CARE TIP Chrome rims

When cleaning chrome-plated rims,it is advisable to wet the entirewheel again with water and sham-poo after the last rinse. This largelyeliminates ugly lime scale and waterspots.

CARE TIP Stubborn dirt

Use Swissvax Wheel Professional toremove really stubborn dirt. Formore information, contact yourSwissvax care centre or your localSwissvax agent.

Endurance test

Originally, this product was developedfor German customers with fast motorcars with alloy or magnesium wheels. The product has been tested on Germanmotorways (Autobahns) at speeds ofmore than 300 km/h, in Switzerland onthe heavily salted roads during thewinter months and on race tracks inGermany and Austria.

Wheel wax

Swissvax Autobahn Wheel Waxenhances the surface of your wheelswith a visible smooth shine and helpsrepel dirt. Brake dust, road salt, mois-ture and other road contaminates canhardly penetrate the protective coat-ing of heat-resistant carnauba waxenhanced with PTFE1. Wheel cleaningwill take only a fraction of the time itused to take. Swissvax AutobahnWheel Wax can be used safely on alu-minium, polished aluminium, coatedaluminium, magnesium, chrome orcoated surfaces.

WHAT IS PTFE?

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) resinbelongs to the class of paraffinicpolymers that have some or all ofthe hydrogen replaced by fluoride. The original PTFE resin was inventedby DuPont in 1938.

PTFE is a completely fluorinatedpolymer manufactured by free radi-cal polymerization of tetrafluo -roethylene. With a linear molecularstructure of repeating –CF-CF2-units, PTFE is a crystalline polymerwith a melting point of approxi-mately 621°F (327°C). Its density is2.13 to 2.19 g. PTFE has exceptionalresistance to chemicals. Its coeffi-cient of friction is lower than almostany other material.

CHECK THE TYRESPN

EUJet-black tyres

As every concours d’élégance partici-pant knows, shiny tyre walls are amust! Jet-black tyres with a naturalsheen add the finishing touch to animmaculately kept vehicle. There arevarious ways to achieve this finish:some are relatively easy, while othersrequire more effort. The main thing, however, is to ensure that what you dois good for the tyres and causes nodamage.

Pneu

Swissvax Pneu is an emulsion consist-ing of gloss agents and preservatives. It replenishes moisture lost from therubber compound and protects thesurface from discoloration and crack-ing. Swissvax Pneu couldn’t be easierto apply and is guaranteed to notharm your tyres, rims or paintwork.Swissvax Pneu is ideal both for stan-dard black and for whitewall tyres.CARE TIP

On windy days we recommend thatyou apply Swissvax Pneu with aSwissvax Tyre-Brush or a SwissvaxPuck applicator (black). Spraying itdirectly onto tyre walls could lead toresidue being left on the paintwork.

Fabric tops

Fabric tops do not need a completeclean each time the car is washed – onthe contrary. When cleaning a fabricroof, never use washing detergents orother cleaning agents intended for thekitchen or bathroom, as these willleach the rubber and the waterproof-ing of the roof. Therefore, only use spe-cially designed tested products, suchas Swissvax Fabric, to clean and carefor your vehicle’s fabric top.

Vinyl tops

Vinyl tops are less susceptible tobleaching and the effects of dust. Ifnecessary, cars with vinyl roofs can bewashed in an automatic car wash, pro-vided the top has a glass rear window.Light-coloured roofs in particularshould still be cleaned every week toensure that dirt has no chance to getestablished. It is important not to usealkaline cleaning agents for this pur-pose, as they soften the special adhe-sives used to waterproof the top’sseams. Engine wash

Although dust and water splashesbuild up over time, they do not actuallydamage the engine. The time for anengine wash is after the winter, whenwater and road salt have splashed upand left a white deposit. The best placeto clean the engine is at a commercialself-service carwash. This ensures thatcleaning agents and (for older cars)rinsed-off oil do not get into thegroundwater. Aggressive products, such as acid-based cold cleaners, should not be used to loosen dirt, however, since they can damage elec-trical and plastic components. Water-soluble engine cleaners are more suit-able. We recommend Swissvax Engine,a concentrate with citrus oil additives, that can be diluted with water.

Automatic car washes

An automatic car wash is no problemfor a paint surface once it has beenpre-cleaned, provided modern textilerollers are used and not nylon brushes.Nylon brushes cause scratches similarto those produced by 2000-grit sand-paper! Hand washing, however, is thegentlest way to care for the paint fin-ish. Old sponges and aggressive clean-ing agents should be kept well awayfrom the paintwork. Your paint finishwill be far safer with a Waschpudel™wash pad and plenty of soft water.

CARE TIP

Please avoid using a washing sponge, since no matter how carefully yourinse out your sponge, a few dirt par-ticles (fine sand grains etc.) alwaysremain trapped in the pores and cancause fine scratches on your paint finish.

A Swissvax Waschpudel™ wash pad,on the other hand, can be washedafter each use and is guaranteed freeof residue for the next wash.

For washing away from home...

try the Swissvax Smart Bucket – acollapsible 20-litre bucket that will fitbehind the seat of even the smallestroadster.

For fast-action drying...

use a Swissvax Hydralip (made ofspecial medical-grade silicone)developed for drying vehicle paintfinishes. It is so easy to handle thatthe tiresome process of drying canbe completed in a fraction of thetime that it used to take.

IMPORTANT

Never wash a vehicle in the full sunand always use enough wash water.Always keep the whole paintwork wetwith water/Car Bath solution while thecar is being washed.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

1. Fill two 20-litre buckets with warmwater. Add one capful of SwissvaxCar Bath to one of the buckets.

2. Hose the vehicle down with plen-ty of clean water.

3. Using a Swissvax Waschpudel™wash pad and generous amounts ofwater, wash the vehicle from top tobottom, avoiding circular move-ments. Start with the roof, boot andbonnet. Always rinse the Wasch-pudel™ wash pad out first in thebucket of clean water and then dipit into the bucket of Car Bath solu-tion before continuing washing. Thishelps prevent annoying scratchesfrom washing.

4. Rinse off the vehicle with gener-ous amounts of clean water.

5. Dry the vehicle with a SwissvaxHydralip and a clean Swissvax Cloth.

Washing the car

A thorough but gentle wash is theideal starting point for all other work.Unfortunately, many car shampooproducts erode the paintwork overtime due to the degreasing agentsthey contain. The outdated recom-mendation to use only tap water forcar washing is also wrong. Without ashampoo, the wash solution has noway to encapsulate and “transport” thedirt away. We therefore recommendSwissvax Car Bath, a paintwork-friendlyshampoo concentrate that effectivelybreaks the bond between the dirt andthe paint surface. Its pH-neutral formu-la guarantees that your high-qualitySwissvax wax finish will not be affected.

Insects

The best procedure is to soak a Swiss-vax Cotton Cloth in lukewarm waterand place it over the insect depositsfor five minutes. Then wash off withCar Bath solution and a SwissvaxMicroWash microfibre cloth (yellow).Do not rub!. Also do not use insectsponges or the like which cause micro-scratches in the paint finish.

Always use Swissvax „Opaque“ products for matt paintwork.

Bring out the beauty in plastic

Plastic components contain variousadditives, including plasticisers toenhance suppleness and fillers todetermine surface quality. Over time, heat, frost, solvent-based cleaningagents, UV radiation and other envi-ronmental influences affect the plas-tics, making them appear dry and brit-tle. To counteract this problem, theindustry has developed deep-actingcare products for plastics. These prod-ucts are often based almost solely onsilicon, however. Swissvax ProtectonMatt is a preservative and care productenriched with jojoba and other essen-tial oils for interior plastics. It restoresmoisture that the plastic has lost andreturns the original matt sheen to theplastic parts.

Protecton is an emulsion containinggloss and care agents with activedetergents and light-protection addi-tives and is suitable for use on bothinterior and exterior surfaces. The plas-tic is given a silky gloss finish.

Deep cleaning

It's just like skin care: first comes thedeep cleaning, followed by the care.Pore-deep cleansing is essential if youwant to achieve a pristine finish. Werecommend that you use SwissvaxPlastic Wash for a perfect, deep-actingclean and then follow this up withSwissvax Protecton or Protecton Mattto condition the surface.

Rubber is not plastic

To avoid any confusion: rubber hasnothing to do with plastics. On thecontrary, rubber is a natural product, which means that most plastic careproducts should not be used on rubberparts. As rubber bcomes brittle, crackedand unsightly over the years, regularcare of all rubber parts is very important.

Rubber seals

Swissvax Gum Feed was developedexclusively for rubber and keeps rubberseals pliable for years. Even hardenedseals become soft and flexible againafter several applications. It also reliablyprevents seals from freezing up in thewinter.

PNEU

Large rubber surfaces

Oxidation resulting from oxygen, UVradiation, salt, etc. makes rubber lookunpleasantly brownish, “sulphuredout” and generally neglected. SwissvaxPneu is an emulsion containing glossand care agents with active detergentsand light-protection additives. 26BRILLIANT RESULTS

Maintaining the “as new” look

To keep your new car looking newfrom the very start, we highly recom-mend that you have the paintworksealed with Swissvax upon purchase:this way, the “as new” appearance ispreserved for much longer and reliableprotection of the paintwork is guaran-teed. It's best to be on the safe side.

«Swissvax Paint Protection System»Protecting your car from day one

Nowadays, new cars are often dis-patched with merely a thin plastic filmfor protection. Your local dealer saveson the finish work and you receive anew car with virtually unprotectedpaintwork. When you purchase a newvehicle, ask your brand dealer to havethe vehicle treated with the SwissvaxPaint Protection System prior to deliv-ery or place the vehicle in the capablehands of a Swissvax Car Care Center.Treat yourself to peace of mind in theknowledge that you can provide thesubsequent car care using the appro-priate products.

First impressions

The perfect paint finish on your car islike a calling card, so you should exer-cise care in choosing the right prod-ucts for optimum results. After all, agood craftsman only works with high-quailty tools. And when you do thiswork you are investing the most valu-able asset you have – your time!

Enjoying your car

With the correct approach to vehiclecare – regular washing followed byreapplication of preservatives – youhave nothing to fear from environ-mental influences, in summer or inwinter. Appropriate, regular car carewill not only increase but also extendthe enjoyment you derive from yourcar. In fact, everything you do for yourcar’s “skin” is guaranteed to pay off – interms of a longer life span (combinedwith a very attractive appearance) andmany miles on the road together.

The best for the best

To achieve this, choose a premium carcare system like Swissvax – admittedlythe most expensive, but also the bestcar wax in the world. No wonderSwissvax products are used world-wide to care for many of the mostvaluable vintage cars and manufactur-ers such as Rolls-Royce, Spyker, Lam-borghini and Mercedes-Benz offertheir customers high-quality Swissvaxproducts in their own car care ranges.

The Swissvax concept

The essence of the Swissvax concept isthat all the products have proved theireffectiveness in practice and logicallyoverlap and complement one another. This ensures that all parts of your vehi-cle can be kept in immaculate condi-tion down to the very last detail.

Non-abrasive paintwork preparation

The first step towards a perfectly fin-ished vehicle is the essential pretreat-ment with Swissvax Cleaner Fluid Reg-ular. Cleaner Fluid Regular isabrasive-free, using instead “heavy”polishing oils to give the vehicle paint-work a baby-smooth surface andensuring the necessary foundation forsubsequent sealing with a Swissvaxcarnauba wax of your choice by com-pletely removing any layers of old waxand other deposits.

Scratched paintwork

Minor scratches are removed withCleaner Fluid Regular. The followingpages will show you how and withwhat Cleaner Fluid products you cansolve problem cases too.

Easy sealing

Sealing your paintwork with Swissvaxwaxes is both easy and pleasant com-pared to conventional vehicle polishes.Simply apply a thin layer with the sur-face of your hand, leave for a few min-utes and polish off easily, withoutannoying residue or never-ending pol-ishing. Swissvax waxes have the signifi-cant benefit of leaving no whiteresidue on the edges or in bodyworkcrevices.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

1. Wash and dry the car thoroughly.

2. Apply Swissvax Pneu or Protecton toall exterior plastic parts before startingwork on the paintwork. This ensuresthat the plastic parts will not absorbthe Cleaner Fluid or wax.

3. Using a Swissvax Cotton Applicator(white), apply Cleaner Fluid Regular lib-erally in an even back-and-forth, cross-wise motion (not a circular motion)over a complete area, e.g. the bonnetor both wings.

4. Spread the cleaner fluid, applyinglight pressure (with back-and-forthstrokes) until the surface is evenly“nourished”.

5. Do not let the fluid dry. Wipe off thedamp Cleaner Fluid Regular with afresh, dry Swissvax Cloth and polishthe treated paint area with short, back-and-forth movements (this makesmost painted surfaces squeak). Keepturning the cloth to expose a cleansurface. Alternatively use a SwissvaxMicroPolish microfibre cloth (blue), butnot standard, commercially availablemicrofibre cloths, as these mightscratch the surface!

Pretreatment

For pretreatment use Swissvax CleanerFluid Regular. This solution preservesand nourishes the paintwork using“heavy” polishing oils and contains noabrasives. It removes minor scratches, tar, tree resin and old wax completely. However, Swissvax Cleaner Fluid Regu-lar stops at the underlying paint layerwithout scratching it.

Although conventional polishes dothe same job with abrasives, the dis -advantage with them is that they startscouring away at the paint as theirabrasive particles continue workingthrough a new paint layer.

IMPORTANT

After treating your vehicle withSwissvax Cleaner Fluid, do not driveit until the paintwork has beensealed with a Swissvax wax!

Always use Swissvax „Opaque“ products for matt paintwork.

Swissvax Cleaner Fluid Medium is aslightly abrasive polish which is suit-able for use on paintwork that is slight-ly weathered or has minor to mediumwear. It removes fine to mediumscratches, overspray and slightly mattpatches.

Cleaner Fluid Medium is applied even-ly to the affected area, using substan-tial pressure, so that the micro-gran-ules contained rub against oneanother, wearing themselves downand making the polish progressivelyfiner. This enables you to work on indi-viduals areas, beginning each timewith a powerful abrasive effect whichis gradually reduced through rubbing, thus producing a finer and smoothersurface. The abrasive effect of CleanerFluid Medium can be easily controlledto ensure that only an absolute mini-mum of the surface layer is removed.

The art of composition

It's just like skin care: first comes thedeep cleaning, followed by the caredepending on skin type. Pore-deepcleansing is the essential basis for per-fect adhesion and effective results. Theinternationally popular Swissvax con-cept follows the same principle. Ourunique Cleaner Fluid is used to achieveimmaculately deep cleaning. It isunique because this solution preservesand nourishes the paintwork withoutthe need for abrasives. Scratched andweathered paintwork can be pretreat-ed with Cleaner Fluid Medium orStrong.

The next step is to seal the paintedsurface. Waxes with a carnauba waxcontent of as much as 100% may pro-vide a high degree of shine, but arealso known to lack durability and tendtowards streaking and dust formation. The art of correct wax composition istherefore of decisive importance. Thecorrect blending of the carnauba waxwith other waxes, PTFE, fruit oils, etc. isimperative to create a wax compoundwhich not only produces outstandingresults but also will last up to one year.

The combination of making the waxesby hand and tailoring them to theneeds of different types of paintworkand application requirements there-fore forms the basis for perfect careproducts.

It is no wonder then that Swissvax is the brand of choice for vehicle manufacturers such as Rolls-RoyceMotorcars, Automobili Lamborghini,Mercedes-Benz Classic, Spyker Carsand Automobiles Bugatti.

INSIDER TIP

The classical way to apply Swissvaxwax to the paint finish is directlywith the palms of one’s hands. Firsttake a small amount of wax from thecontainer and rub it into your palms(remove any rings beforehand). Thisway, you avoid applying too muchwax and are able to feel any irregu-larities still present on the surface.

PLEASE NOTE

Swissvax waxes are great value formoney – a little goes a very longway. Be sure to apply them verysparingly. A thin layer is quite suffi-cient as long as it is continuous.Used like this, one tin should easilylast for 25 applications. Your vehiclewill then benefit from highly durablequality sealing that is much moreeconomical in terms of effort andcost than it may first appear.

USINGPTFE WAX SHIELD

1. Pretreat the paintwork with theSwissvax Paint Rubber (see index)and Swissvax Cleaner Fluid Regular(see index). The smoother the sur-face to be waxed, the greater thePTFE effect will be, which is why aSwissvax Paint Rubber is always sup-plied with Swissvax Shield Wax.

2. Proceed as described in «Universaland Special Waxes».

USINGUNIVERSAL AND SPECIAL WAXES

1. Apply Swissvax wax with a SwissvaxSponge-applicator (black) or with thepalm of your hand to form an even waxfilm on the paintwork.

2. Let the wax work in for several min-utes, but make sure that it does not dry.

3. Gently wipe the wax film with aSwissvax Wax Cloth (red) and then polish to a high gloss with a SwissvaxMicroPolish microfibre cloth (blue).Keep turning the cloth to expose aclean surface.

4. Do not touch the paintwork for threehours and, at the next opportunity, leave the vehicle in the sun after waxing. You will be able to observe the lustredeepening increasingly as the hours goby.

5. If necessary, buff the surface againquickly using a clean Swissvax Micro -Polish microfibre cloth (blue).

Swissvax Metal Polish removesdeposits, rust and oxidation efficiently, quickly and gently. It produces a highgloss and offers effective long-termprotection.

Chrome-plated parts

These are crucial and elegant high-lights on any vehicle. Contrary to pop-ular opinion, however, chromerequires regular care: the chromiumlayer is extremely thin and can corrodeif not maintained. Be sure to use a pol-ish that is free of abrasives.Unfortunately, chrome plating is oftenpolished with overly aggressive agents, marring its spotless gloss with uglyhairline scratches.

Nickel and brass radiators

These should be treated with a polishthat offers long-term protection fromre-oxidation. If low-quality polishes areused, re-polishing is often necessaryafter the first rainfall, as the gloss isdulled by ugly water marks.

Aluminium

Aluminium is very sensitive to overlyaggressive polishes. Only a well-bal-anced product will produce that long-lasting gloss which is so important oncylinder heads, valve covers, wheels, etc.

LER

Restoring the colour of your leather

Some parts of your interior leather, such as driver seats, side mouldings, entrance panel covers, steering wheelsand gearsticks, are by nature subject togreater use and therefore willinevitably start to show signs of wear, even in vehicles that are well lookedafter. Although this is only relativelyharmless wear and tear, such asscratches or colour loss, which can beeasily rectified with the right dye, it canstill spoil the overall impression of theinterior.

Swissvax Leather Healer is a specialleather dye for restoring the colour ofleather surfaces. It is easy to apply witha small sponge, sets automatically anddoes not rub off (no cream). It is finelyand highly pigmented, producing arich colour without leaving a thicklayer of pigment, as is often unfortu-nately the case with spray-on leatherdyes. Leather Healer ensures that thecolour of your leather is accurately andevenly restored without losing thatunique leather look and feel. Afterapplying Leather Healer, you can con-tinue to care for the leather using theperfectly matched Swissvax products.

Leather Healer is available in 46 stan-dard colours or can be customised tomeet individual requirements. Contactus to find the right colour for yourapplication or simply send us a smallleather sample so that we can matchyour colour precisely.

Leather sealing

Swissvax Leather Glaze leather sealensures that new leather remains asgood as new. It dries within minutes, leaving no shine or change in colour. With the application of Leather Glaze, wear and tear on leather can be great-ly reduced, because the colourless protective film minimises the effects of friction. The driver’s seat, steeringwheel and gearstick are the areas mostexposed to noticeable wear, whicheven becomes visible soon after thepurchase of a new car. These areasshould be treated early on withLeather Glaze. Leather Glaze is alsoideal for protecting light-colouredleather from denim marks. Eventhough they will still appear, they canthen be easily removed with LeatherCleaner and cause no lasting damage,as is otherwise the case.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Matt or glossy?

Any collector or vehicle enthusiastknows the annoying yet unavoidableproblem that interior surfaces, such assteering wheels or gearsticks, can startto look shiny and worn from frequentuse, leading in time to that unappeal-ing “greasy” shine. This was reason enough to seek aremedy for this problem! SwissvaxLeather Gloss Corrector Matt is aninnovative solution for those “greasy”problem areas. Softening up hardened leather

There are two reasons why leatherhardens. One is age and loss of mois-ture. Leather can become increasinglyharder and less supple over timethrough lack of care, due to lack ofmovement and remoisturising.

Another cause is shrinking due to theeffect of heat. The plant-tannedleathers that used to be used for vehicleinteriors hardened and shrank at tem-peratures from 70°C upwards. The lessremoisturising leather receives, thelower the temperature will be at whichit begins to shrink.

A certain degree of softness can berestored to hardened leather, butshrunk leather remains shrunk. This isbad news for dashboards in particularwhich are difficult and time-consum-ing to disassemble. However, it is stilladvisable to treat shrunk leather withLeather Softener to protect it andmake it more resistant prior to disas-sembly. Stiff leather coverings can bemoistened with Leather Softener.Leather with a very smooth or closedpore surface should be rubbed downfirst with our leather sanding pad, toensure that the Leather Softener cansoak in properly. Leather Softener is asynthetic oil which does not decom-pose like animal oils which oxidiseafter a short time.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

1. Clean all smooth leathers withSwissvax Leather Cleaner.

2. If necessary, carefully roughen upthe surface with the leather sandingpad.

3. Apply Swissvax Leather Softenerwith a sponge applicator or cloth.Allow the leather to rest for one to twodays. A milder form of treatment is torepeat the process sparingly severaltimes rather than performing one gen-erous application.
