1. Company profile Starting with a simple beginning in year 1987, today MIRAJ Group has marked its presence in various sectors. In its initial years MIRAJ was mainly oriented towards the tobacco business. Since then MIRAJ has been continuously providing superior quality of lime processed chewing tobacco, a pioneer quality economy product. Gradually the group achieved new heights. Starting with single tobacco division, today MIRAJ has forayed into various segments such as FMCG, Packaging & Stationary, PVC Pipes & Fittings, Hospitality sector, Engineering Division, Perfumery Division, Music Industry, Film Making division and last but not the least Real Estate Sector. Today MIRAJ group is one of the most admired business houses of the region extending its arms towards remaining parts of the country. Today MIRAJ group is flourishing with new achievements in this era of cut-throat competition very smoothly & steadily strictly adhering to quality control measures. Today MIRAJ own more than 20 group Companies almost in every sector. ManagementMr. Madan PaliwalChairman Madan Paliwal, the Chairman of Miraj Group has been at the helm of Miraj Group since 1986, turning what was then a 200 Rupees company into the Multi Million revenue FMCG, Real Estate, PVC Pipes, Printing-Stationary, Film & Cinema organization, that it is today. He strongly believes that ordinary people are capable of extraordinary things when organized into highly charged teams. He takes keen personal interest in developing leaders and teams and invests significant time as faculty in Miraj's leadership development programs. Mr. Prakash Chandra PurohitManaging Director Prakash Chandra Purohit, The Managing Director of Miraj Group heads Business Planning, Treasury and Controllership. His association with Miraj goes back to Miraj Products Pvt. Ltd. where he was the GM. He later became the Executive Director of Miraj Group. He moved to his present role as MD, Miraj Group in 2011. He has been instrumental in building and scaling many of Miraj's businesses successfully. He has a track record for customer centricity, passion for excellence and rigor in execution.

4. Current DevelopmentWorld's Largest Shiva Statue to be placed in Nathdwara The foundation stone of the World's largest statue of Lord Shiva, being made by Miraj Group, was laid by Pujya Murari Bapu in presence of the Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in Ganesh Tekri area of the Nathdwara on 18th August, 2012 . The statue will be 351 feet long, which is similar to a 35 storey building. The construction of the giant figurine is backed by Miraj Group. Unlike other statues of Lord Shiva, this one would be quite different as Shiva wont be holding the Trishul nor he will be in the position of blessing, but in a more pleasing appearance. The statue will be made from concrete and cement and it will take nearly Three years to complete the statue. The work will be done by Naresh Kumar and his team of sculpture artists from Gurgaon. The land allocation work has already been completed by the Rajasthan Government. Iconic Gateway & Model Bus Terminal in Nathdwara Ashok Gehlot, Hon'ble Chief Minister, Govt. of Rajasthan had laid down the foundation stone for the construction of Model Bus Terminal and Iconic Gateway at Nathdwara on 30th September, 2013. The Iconic Gate will be 133 feet long, which is similar to a 13 storey building. The construction of the same is backed by Miraj Developers Ltd.

6. BusinessTobaccoMiraj pioneered the concept & supply of lime mixed tobacco. Company is the leading manufacturer of lime mixed tobacco in India. Miraj Lime Mixed Chewing tobacco is most popular amongst the consumers in India as well as abroad for its distinguished taste & pleasing aroma thereby creating a global benchmark. The company has been able to build its position because of its constant efforts to provide quality product thereby resulting into high level of customer satisfaction. Miraj has totally automated setup for manufacturing and packing to maintain high standard of hygiene and quality. FMCGMiraj Group started FMCG division in 2003 with Tea Manufacturing. The brand name is "Miraj Red Tea" in Tea division. Miraj Red Tea began its journey more than 10 years ago, when the packaged tea market was dominated by one large player with over 70% market share. While most saw entering this market as an almost impossible task, Miraj Tea saw an opportunity. Later in 2004 Miraj started soap division with it's washing soap "Miraj Sudh oil soap". Its animal fat free laundry soaps are more environmental friendly as compared to traditional soaps. Based on the principle that the subtle power of fragrance plays an important role in health and wellness, Miraj started finest quality, hand rolled incense sticks in 2009. In year 2013 Miraj entered into Food Division with Toast Manufacturing. Its brand name is "Miraj Premium Toast" in this division.

The trust has its own Goshala (Cow Farm), where around 1200 cows are being taken care. Trust has its own medical setup for different vaccinations and medical checkups on a regular basis to keep them healthy and fit. Ayurvedic medicines are also regularly used. A detailed report is prepared on a regular basis in order to ensure that necessary medical treatment is been given on the prescribed schedules. Milking record and a Service record of all Cows is also maintained in order to ensure timely Weaning off and conception. Our Goshala runs on a non-profit basis. 7. SWOT analysisIf we know our strengths and weaknesses and understand the opportunities and threats we have, then we can do something about them

According to Kotler and Keller (2009 p.101) SWOT analysis is a way to monitor companys internal and external environment, it is the overall evaluation of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. If a company takes under consideration its strengths, and builds its strategy exposing and utilising them this will create a competitive advantage. Weaknesses and threats are those factors that can affect the company in negative way.

In its simplest form, a SWOT analysis can be understood as the examination of an organization's internal strengths and weaknesses, and its environments opportunities, and threats. It is a general tool designed to be used in the preliminary stages of decision-making and as a precursor to strategic planning in various kinds of applications (Johnson et al., 1989; Bartol et al., 1991). An understanding of all external factors, (threats andopportunities) together with an internal examination of strengths and weaknesses assists in forming a vision of the future.Why use it?To develop a plan or find a solution that takes into consideration many different internal and external factors, and maximizes the potential of the strengths and opportunities while minimizing the impact of the weaknesses and threats.

What do people in our market see as our strengths? What factors mean that we "get the sale"?Strengths of the company Focus on CSR activities is a major strength of the company Miraj wields considerable financial muscle with strong acquisition capability and funds for marketing, which are crucial for expansion and retaining consumer loyalty during a time of difficult market conditions. Large volumes of sales are made outside core developed markets, vastly improving the companys resilience to regional economy. Miraj is a corporate brand whose identity is deeply rooted and very well established in the minds of potential customers.

The company is having Indian origin thus creating feeling of oneness in the mind of the customers. It is aiming at rural segment, which covers a large area of loyal customers, which other companies had failed to do. People are quite confident for the quality products provided by Miraj The prices of FMCG products are comparatively less as compared to other companies with equally good product quality. What factors lose us sales?Weaknesses of the company There are various big players in the FMCG market, which acts as major competitors restricting its growth. Lack of capital invested as compared to other companies. Improper distribution channel in India in FMCF and Real Estate especially. Limited market share due to stiff competition in the premium product market Rural penetration is limited Market share is limited due to presence of other strong FMCG brands Mirajproducts has stiff competition from big domestic players and international brand Company faces the weakness of selling dangerous products to consumers. Tobacco products obviously involve a great deal of health risks and consumers have been made well aware of the risks involved in tobacco use.

Company faces liability issues and litigation for the sale of such a dangerous product, which can cost the companies a lot of money. Another weakness that Miraj suffers from is its dependencies to rely solely on the sale of tobacco products in order for them to remain such profitable companies in the market place. Low exports levels Company is not able to fulfill Changing skills requirements and an ageing workforce may emphasize the skills gap Improvement in long-term career prospects is highly required to encourage staff retention and new entrants. Lack of clearly defined processes and procedures for construction and its management. Huge amount of money needs to be invested in the construction industry. Opportunities What good opportunities can we spot? what interesting trends are we aware of?Useful opportunities can come from such things as: Changes in technology and markets on both a broad and narrow scale. Changes in government policy related to our field. Changes in social patterns, population profiles, lifestyle changes, and so on. Local events.Opportunities for the company There is a lot of potential for growth and development as huge population stay in rural market where other companies are not targeting. Is changing technology threatening your position? Do you have bad debt or cash-flow problems? could any of your weaknesses seriously threaten your business?Threats to the company Companies in the tobacco industry such as Miraj have a negative public perception because of providing such dangerous products and must deal with this perception accordingly in order to remain in the market. With the threat of being seen so negatively in the public eye company must provide support in educating consumers about the dangerous health risks involved with smoking. Government regulation also poses a threat to the company. The threat of Mirajs consumer base growing old and dying off from tobacco related illness The major threat is from other companies who hold the majority share of consumers in Indian market Cut throat competition from domestic FMCG brands Switching costs are low

Suggestions Company should enter in to diversified products other then tobacco Company should strengthen its distribution network Mostly company deals in the domestic market it should try to enter in to the international market. Aggressive marketing is the need of today company should focus on that Company should invest more on research and development activities

13. ConclusionThe SWOT Analysis displayed how strengths such as brand identity have played a huge role in the success of Miraj. Miraj leads the market with its well-known brand and is taking on opportunities with new products. . Miraj also face many weaknesses and threats, that being in the tobacco industry pose, such as government regulation and health awareness. It should take action to deal with them by exploring new opportunities.
