A strong, united and fighting Sydney Branch Executive supporting robust representation of members in the stevedoring, seafaring and port worker areas.

Well defined organisation of the Branch Executive with responsibilities of all areas clearly outlined in the Sydney Branch Plan

which is implemented by an Executive who work closely with each other and can assist each other in all workplaces, ensuring support for all members.

A continued rank-and-file involvement in the affairs of the union with a strong delegate and committee structure in all

workplaces.

An inclusive and representative Sydney Branch Committee that meets quarterly and maintains strong links to the Sydney

Branch Executive and the broader membership.

Continued and increased union training including ongoing use of St Georges Basin union school.

Continued and improved communications to the members taking advantage of all available technology.

A strong friendship between the Officials on the Branch Executive which has been forged over many years working together

dealing with numerous disputes and campaigns to advance as well as defend the conditions of the members.

A strong industrial plan.

Continued struggle for improved working conditions and wage increases based on a militant class based approach to issues

with inclusion of delegates and rank-and-file members. United in struggle will continue to deliver the best for our members.

EBAs being negotiated with rank-and-file involvement including a clear understanding of the issues affecting the membership

including maintaining the fight for permanent jobs over casuals in all sectors of the maritime industry.

Continuing the fight to support and protect delegates and all members who are taken on by the employers for standing up

and supporting MUA members. Our collective strength is based upon the strength of the members that make up our Union. A strong and comprehensive plan for all affairs of the Sydney Branch.

The Sydney Branch Plan recognises the work that is necessary to undertake to deliver for members and the communities in

which we live. The three pillars are industrial, political and social. These three areas are critical alongside a legal and communications platform in securing our rights at work. Without knowledge and experience in these three areas the rights and interests of members are the mercy of employers and governments.

Ongoing support for the MUA campaign to re-establish a vibrant Australian crewed and flagged vessels merchant navy.

Continuing the fight for National safety regulation for waterfront workers, securing permanent rostered jobs with reduced

hours and negotiated outcomes for automation alongside continued strengthening of all stevedoring conditions of employment.

Continuing the organising and industrial work throughout NSW whether on our rivers and waterways, or in Port Botany or

Sydney Harbour and bringing new worksites into the union whilst delivering a strong presence in the ferry and charter boat services and ongoing support for our tug workers, bunkering crews, linesmen, port officers, cutter crews, ESOs BSOs and SBSOs, divers.

Maintaining strong community and solidarity links, locally and internationally, as well as continuing our links with the entire

union movement including with the Transport Unions Federation and the International Transport Workers Federation.
