COMMUNICATION

The primary means of communication between us will by via email. It is essential that youupdate your email address . On all emails, you must place your full name and class (including

the section identification) in the subject line, for example, Barack Obama LEG 100006VA016-1122-001. I have other classes and providing this information greatly facilitates my ability to

timely respond. Also, placing this information in the subject area will decrease the likelinessthat your email will be caught in my SPAM filter. The course number and section number can

be found at the top of the class home page. If this information is not included, I may not be able

to identify the sender causing a delayed response to your questions. Please be sure to include your full name in any correspondence, especially email. I cannot give

you credit for work or know who is asking a question if all I have is your email address. While

some email addresses do have the student's name, the majority are not easily identifiable; for example. the email address of [email protected] would not be easily identifiable with Barack

Obama.

PARTICIPATION & ATTENDANCE

You will be expected to contribute to the class discussion in a substantive way each week. In

addition to completing the assignments, you should read, analyze, and respond to the questions

and comments from the other students and from myself. You are required to actively participatein our classroom discussions.

In order to receive full credit for participating, you must post at least one new message to the

weekly module and comment on the posts of at least two classmates during the online week.Should absences be necessary, you are responsible to notify me in advance (see ‘Late

Assignments’ below) and are also responsible for the material covered during your absences.

Excessive absences make it almost impossible for a student to meet the academic objectives of a

course; they frequently cause a student to receive a lower grade even though the absences wereunavoidable. I cannot grant requests for excessive amounts of make-up material, and I may

request written documentation detailing the reason for the absences.

Strayer University requires all faculty take attendance for verification by the appropriategovernmental agencies and educational accrediting organizations.

A student who is absent from four consecutive class meetings, excluding holidays andemergency cancellation of classes, will be withdrawn automatically from that course. A student

will be withdrawn automatically from a mini-session course when he/she misses two

consecutively scheduled class meetings.

frequent connectivity issues, you are urged to call Tech Support at toll-free (877) 642.2999 or (866) 350-9427. It is your responsibility to notify technical support if you are having difficulties. Please do not allow computer problems to disrupt your participation throughout the course.

In order to be marked “present,” each week online students need to:

(1) submit an academic assignment;(2) take a quiz or an exam;

(3) participate in a posted online academic discussion.

Logging into an online class without active participation (as described above) does not constitute

official weekly attendance. Please review the attendance policy in the current Strayer UniversityCatalog.

LATE ASSIGNMENTSStrayer University’s academic philosophy is to provide each adult student with an opportunity to

actively learn and demonstrate competencies needed in today’s high performance workplace.

Opportunities will be made available for you to reach your maximum learning potential. Just asin the workplace, it is expected that you will complete all assignments by the due date.

Assignments will NOT be accepted late unless prior arrangements have been made or unless you

have a University-approved excuse. I am flexible and understanding with scheduling as long as I

am notified in advance. All grades not timely submitted will receive a zero even if the student has a legitimate reason for

the late submission and has received my permission to submit the assignment late. The zero will

be cleared when the assignment is submitted. No penalty will be assessed if the student received

prior permission to submit the assignment late. Otherwise the zero will be the permanent grade.

FEEDBACK ON ASSIGNMENTS

I will post feedback on all graded assignments to the gradebook as quickly as possible. This

usually occurs within 48 hours of the due date (with exception to multiple-paged written

assignments, which require additional grading time).

LEG 100 –Additional Class Information

A standardized performance grading rubric is a tool your professor will use to evaluate your

written assignments. Review the rubric before submitting assignments that have grading rubricsassociated with them to ensure you have met the performance criteria stated on the rubric.

Grades are based on individual effort. There is no group grading; however, working in groups in

Assignments for online students are always submitted through the online course shell. Access the

appropriate assignment by clicking on it. Scroll down until you see the Attach File option.Locate the assignment to be submitted by browsing your computer. When you have located the
