On transmitter:
• End point (ATV) = 100%• Center (subtrim) = 0• Trim position at middle• Linear Pitch curve:
4
Expected setup: Symmetrical collective pitch travel range (–X° +X°)
Put the heli on a flat and horizontal surface area
Servos at center position (throttle stick position at middle):
→ Mount the servo horns so that horns are at horizontal position
5
6
Expected setup: the wash-out, the swashplate and servo horns are at horizontal position
Place the throttle stick at middle position :→ Set linkage rod lengths according to the instruction manual of helicopter
If the wash-out or the swashplate is not at horizontal position:→ Set the wash-out at horizontal position by moving swashplate up or down→ Fine-tune linkage rod lengths in order to set the swashplate at horizontal position
7
Throttle stick position at middle, pitch must be equal to 0°
Use a pitch gauge to measure the pitch of each blade
Adjust the length of linkage rods linking the swashplate to blade grips
Throttle stick position at middle → 0°
On the transmitter:
Adjust servo end points (ATV) to set the expected pitch range (-11° +11°)
Servos must not bind
8
Expected setup: • Carburetor horn must be always parallel to throttle servo horn.
• When carburetor is half open, throttle servo horn should be straight down
10
Mount the carburetor horn in straight down position when it is half open
On transmitter:
• End point (ATV) = 100%• Center (subtrim) = 0• Trim in the middle position• Linear Throttle curve:
Throttle servo on center (throttle stick position at middle):
→ Mount the throttle servo horn so that it is at straight down position
11
This procedure ensures there is no differential for the throttle
control
The link length should be equal to the length between throttle servo axle and carburetor axle
The length between carburetor axle and the link ball mounted on the carburetor horn should be equal to the length between the throttle servo axle and the link ball on the throttle servo horn
12
On the transmitter adjust servo end points (ATV) :
to have carburetor totally closed
to have carburetor totally open
Throttle stick at the middle position : carburetor is half open
Carburetor closed Carburetor 100% open
Carburetor 50% open 13
On transmitter set rudder servo parameters:• End point (ATV) = 100%• Center (subtrim) = 0• Trim position at middle
Set gyro in normal mode (no heading lock) to ensure that rudder servo is at the middle position
Mount the servo horn so that the horn is perpendicular to the servo body (the angle between linkage rod and horn should be about 90°)
15
Set, by hand, the slider at the middle position of its mechanical travel range
Adjust the linkage rod length to link the servo horn to the slider
Enter servo endpoint limit settings on the gyro by following the instruction manual
Set the sensitivity (gain) of the gyro to be in Heading Lock mode (AVCS)
16
Find out the center of gravity (CG) for each blade:
→ find out the balanced position
→ mark this position (it is CG’s position)
19
Each CG should be at the same position:
→ bind blades together using a thread rod
→ check that marks facing each other (max space ≈ 5mm)
20
Mount the blades on a blade balancer:
→ if the blade balancer is not balancing => balancing is needed
Blade balancer Blades mounted on a blade balancer
21
Balancing:
→ use the lightest blade
→ cut an ORASTICK® ribbon • length = blade outline (upper surface tailing edge + lower surface tailing edge)• width = big enough to compensate the weight difference between the blades
→ Put the ribbon on the center of gravity of the lightest blade
Blades are balanced ! 22
