1 Introduction This document details workstation requirements and setup procedure for Symphony Products
(Symphony Products, EnvironmentalVue, OpsVue, SurfaceVue and ReportVue). The Symphony Products
are web-delivered, Java application that enables true collaborative decision making (CDM) by providing
common situation awareness to all aviation stakeholders including airports, airlines, and air navigation
service providers. Symphony is designed to assist all airport stakeholders proactively manage routine
operations and reduce the effect of irregular operations (IROPS) by providing real-time and historical
situational awareness of the airspace and airport surface in the form of maps, tabular views, reports and
alerting tools. Map visualizations include the airport surface in both two-dimensional (2D) and three-
dimensional (3D) display and a wide area 2D view of aircraft that are en route. Alerts conditions are
based upon geospatial, temporal, and combined geospatial/temporal violations. Symphony Products
include robust security to ensure users see only the information and functionality they are authorized to
access based on their user login. While the data collection, application servers, and database
infrastructure for Symphony Products are hosted in L3Harris’ state-of-the-art data centers, the client
application must be downloaded and run on a location workstation. This document is intended to
provide guidance to facilitate this effort.
2 Workstation Requirements While the exact workstation requirements will vary based on the specific uses and configuration of the
Symphony Product, this section describes both a minimal and a suggested configuration. The suggest
configuration has been designed to support most average client uses. Consultation with L3Harris is
always recommended.

4 System User Requirements
• Login access to the workstation
• The ability to write to and update data and files into the local accounts’ user directory
• Internet access to Remote Systems (see section 4)
• Windows users must have the ability to read and update into the Windows registry’s
HKEY_USERS path for Java
Ex: HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-161674167-2423700434-2294415721-1203\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\com\luciad
• The user account must have the ability to create and update the following hidden directory under
the users home directory: …\.SYMPHONY_CACHE_DO_NOT_ERASE
• The user account must have the ability to create and ITT directory under the user application
directory.
5 Remote Systems Symphony Products is a hosted application and relies on resources it accesses through the internet for
application updates, data, maps, and other supporting data and functions. All communications are
initiated by the client. The following is a list of required network hosts addresses and URLs the
Symphony Products client needs to communicate with:
5.1 Domain Names
The following domain names are accesses through ports 80 (HTTP) and 443 (HTTPS). These IP addresses
are used to download the application, check for and download updates as needed, and deliver data to
the application. The users must also have the ability to run web services and connect to JMS topics
through these host addresses.
Symphony App Server (www.symphonycdm.com)
Peer Server 1 (JMS Topics) (p1.symphonycdm.com)
Peer Server 2 (JMS Topics) (p2.symphonycdm.com)
MQ Server 1 (Web Services) (m1.symphonycdm.com)
MQ Server 2 (Web Services) (m2.symphonycdm.com)
NOTE: Real-time packet analysis of the JMS topics can introduce potentially large latencies in
the data. Some users may prefer to include these IPs and URLs in a whitelist. While
www.symphonycdm.com will remain the primary URL, additional IP addresses and URLs have
been added to provide additional stability through transitions and upgrades. It is
recommended that in order to maximize performance and system utility that all information is
included in any firewall configurations.

Once connected, the system will automatically check to make sure the latest software has been installed
and apply any updates. Files are loaded into the accounts local user’s directories on the workstation.
This process can take several minutes the first time and when large updates are released.
7 Other Considerations • Proxy Servers: Version 2.0.6 of Symphony Products has limited ability to function with a proxy
server. Please consult with L3Harris staff for assistance.
• L3Harris offers additional models to minimize the internet bandwidth requires to locations with
large numbers of uses. Please consult with L3Harris staff for more information.
• Data delivery requires, on average a 65KB/sec connection during operation. This number can
increase or decrease depending on the time of day and the number of operations being tracked
by the system.
