Synopsis of Work Life Balance Rationale of the study The rationale of this research is to study the work life balance of employees in various companies of Mumbai city. Various factors like social, psychological, working environment, type of job, family background etc. affect the work life balance. The person who is able to maintain a balance between both can contribute more to the success of the organization and vice-versa. The main purpose of doing the project is to identify how to attain equilibrium between professional and personal life responsibilities. Objective of the study To study the importance of Work-life balance in one’s life To identify the factors that would lead or help in balancing the work-life To identify how the content and the context of the job at work place would affect the work-life balance To understand how personal life affect the professional life and visa verse Research Methodology This study seeks to compare and contrast the organizational perspectives on work-life balance and initiatives of companies. The data for this study will be collected from primary sources that are the employees of various organizations. Sample size : The sample size will be 200.

Synopsis of Work Life Balance

Rationale of the study

The rationale of this research is to study the work life balance of employees in various companies of Mumbai city. Various factors like social, psychological, working environment, type of job, family background etc. affect the work life balance. The main purpose of doing the project is to identify how to attain equilibrium between professional and personal life responsibilities.

Research Methodology

This study seeks to compare and contrast the organizational perspectives on work-life balance and initiatives of companies. The data for this study will be collected from primary sources that are the employees of various organizations.

Sample size: The sample size will be 200.

Primary Data: A structured, self-administered questionnaire was used as the tool of data collection from the respondents.

Secondary Data: Apart from the primary data, the data collected from the internet websites

and text books is also used for the study.

Sampling Design: Sampling Design used in this project is Descriptive.

Descriptive research is a study designed to depict the participants in an accurate way. More

simply put, descriptive research is all about describing people who take part in the study.

Sampling Type: The research was made in accordance to the convenience of the employees

so the sampling method used is Convenience Sampling.

Expected contribution from the study

The study will high light the policies of the organization for work-life balance of its employees and help to apprehend the degree of contribution and support the industry is providing in terms of balancing the work and life domains of employees. Inequality in work-life balance responsiveness of the employers and lack of recognition for work-life. This study will help to understand the importance of Work-life balance in one’s life. This will also help to identify the factors that would lead or help in balancing the work-life. The researcher will be able to identify how the content and the context of the job at work place would affect the work-life balance. Also it will provide an insight on understanding how personal life affects the professional life and visa verse. Thus from industry perspective, the in future the manager will come to understand what steps they need to initiate to maintain a balance in work and life. From employees’ perspective, the project will help them to identify the stress factors and thus managing the stress level at least to a certain extent.

Limitations

Employees may not fill the survey forms seriously

They might misinterpret the questionnaire due to lack of understanding or due to

fear that their identity will be revealed

The secondary data maybe old and out of date as data may not be updated time to

time

Lack of data validity for secondary data, as the data is obtained from other sources

As questionnaire has limited questions there may be some factors which may get

missed out
