PwC Malaysia recruits students from Taylor's University, amongst others. We also work closely with the Taylor's Career Services Hub. Taylor's Career Services team is proactive in finding out the students' developmental needs. With this knowledge, they work with us on programmes that can help students close these gaps. The 'Recruiters' Cycle' programme for example, was where we got to share our insights to the final year students on what we look for in our candidates and in doing so, share with them tips on how to differentiate themselves. It's not just a 'one-size-fits-all' approach as different campuses have different needs. We can always depend on Taylor's Career Services team to promote about our job vacancies and other updates. The most recent example is the Trust Builder's Challenge, which is a campus challenge by PwC Malaysia. This year, we worked with the Career Services Team to promote about this. Currently, Taylor's University has a team that successfully made it to the Finals. The facilities in Taylor's are advanced, creating a cozy environment and space that encourages learning. We enjoy visiting Taylor's Lakeside Campus. We believe that technical capabilities alone are not enough. Graduates who have joined us from Taylor's would have excellent communication skills, are able to interact with people of different backgrounds as well as have the maturity to embrace diversity.

Sherriza Nor RashidiEmployer branding & Talent acquisition,

As an alumnus to Taylor’s University, it’s been really fulfilling to be returning to the campus to engage lecturers and my fellow juniors despite graduating awhile back. My primary focus is exploring and innovating different ways to engage Taylor’s students, graduates and lecturers as part of Maybank’s extensive efforts in building and bridging the network between academia and industry. That includes being involved in the Business School’s Advisory Board, organising our signature international case competition (Maybank GO Ahead. Challenge), engagements & workshops and guest lecturing amongst many other engagements with Taylor’s. The university has an outstanding Career Services team who are always very proactive in engaging students and employers both on and off-campus. This has been consistent with the Taylor’s University team that we have engaged with thus far. Taylor’s graduates are highly agile and entrepreneurial and have definitely proven themselves to be on par or if not better against international graduates from our observations over various engagements such as MGAC.

Our experience with Taylor’s University over the last four years has been extremely positive. I personally enjoy working with them as they are very passionate, open and looking for creative ways of collaboration. Taylor’s graduates have been among the most sought after talent for us; not only for their strong technical knowledge but also for their go-getter attitude, very well-rounded skills and leadership skills.

Taylor's MBA provides me the opportunity to acquire new knowledge & skills relevant to the dynamic business world today. Most of the modules are taught by highly experienced academic experts who were able to share both academic knowledge, business practices & perspectives that contribute to a fruitful learning experience.

Within a very short period of time, the programme enabled me to explore various business modules which gave me different views & perspectives that can be applied directly to my current working environment.

The above comments are from our industry partners and students about our programmes at Taylor's University.

To give students knowledge of accounting concepts that will enable them to use financial managers and accountants as sources of expert advice, so that they can both brief them and understand their recommendations and reasoning.

STRATEGY  AND    INNOVATION

The focus of this course is to create a long-term vision for the organization and the strategies required to attain and sustain a competitive advantage. A primary element of the module is the formulation and implementation of effective business and corporate level strategies. This module also will enable students to enhance their understanding of innovation and creativity in a variety of contexts and from perspectives that include the individual, the organisation and society. Using current academic research, we reflect upon the practice of innovation and creativity, and explore the potential of applying theories to foster sustainable competitive advantage for both new and existing organisations.

This module intended to enable students to understand and critically evaluate how organisations deliver value to their customers. Taking a cross-disciplinary approach, the module uses appropriate marketing and operations theories to support students in analysing the delivery of customer value in different organisational contexts.

MANAGING  PEOPLE  FOR  PERFORMANCE

This subject is designed to provide the candidate with a strategic and comprehensive understanding on how organizations with motivated, talented employees that offer outstanding services are more likely to pull ahead of the competition. Managing People for Performance emphasizes this key competitive advantage, showing students that success in today’s globalized business world can be found, not in technology and products, but in an organization’s people.

FINANCINGTHE  CORPORATION

Finance is one of the key functions in business. The financial manger must understand and be able to apply basic economic principles affecting investment and financing decisions. Thus, this course examines important issues in corporate finance from the perspective of financial managers who are responsible for making significant investment and financing decisions.

ASIAN  ECONOMIC  ENVIRONMENT

This is a course of the economies of Asia. It is designed to provide students with a basic overview of the contemporary economic development process and current economic environment of China and Japan, as well as such countries as Cambodia, Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. Particular emphasis will be placed on understanding the diversity of the region and the role that especially economics, as well as politics and culture play in the development process, understand their recommendations and reasoning.

SPECIALISATION  MODULES

BUSINESS  MANAGEMENTPROJECT

RESEARCH  METHODOLOGYFOR  EXECUTIVES

Research Methodology for Executives is an important component to complement the Business Management Project Module in the Master in Business Administration. The module is primarily intended to address the process of the production of a business management project dissertation through the acquisition of sufficient familiarity with the research process.

This module allows students to apply theory and practice of graduate level studies in business to resolving real-world business issues; i.e. Research, analyse, evaluate and propose practical business solutions within the bounds of the Business Management project exercise

RISK  MANAGEMENTAND  STRATEGY

INVESTMENT  AND  PORTFOLIO  MANAGEMENT

INTERNATIONAL  FINANCE

To have an in-depth understanding of international finance and financial markets (in particular the growing financial markets in Asia) to analyse risks that exist in international finance including foreign exchange, foreign trade and investment risks and to select and use appropriate techniques to manage such risks.

To provide students with a good knowledge and understanding of the economic and business concepts of risk in the main functional areas of a business (e.g. credit risk, market risk, operational risk). This will enable the student to critically evaluate the main areas of risk in a business; and deal with complex problems relating to those risks. Besides providing the students with an appreciation of the range of the main areas of risk in the business, the module aims to provide a strategic framework in which the student can employ various tools and mechanisms for managing risk.

To give students a good grounding in the theoretical concepts as well as practical skills/techniques relating to the construction and management of investment portfolios (to manage their own personal assets and/or the assets of others). Emphasis is therefore placed on the analytical aspects of Investment and Portfolio management and the decision making process to enable students to effectively apply established theories and models in the financial world.

STRATEGIC  CUSTOMERMANAGEMENT

SERVICES  MARKETING

SOCIAL  COMMERCE  AND  DIGITAL  MARKETING

Internet and social media have dramatically changed the way people communicate with one another and market. The increasing number of internet users and the proliferation of devices, platforms, and applications present the marketers new opportunities and challenges to attract new and prospective customers. This course is designed to help students understand the digital marketing environment and harness it to optimize the customer experience, shape the customer decision-making and business effectiveness.

Managing and nurturing a company’s interactions with customers and sales prospects. It involves using technology to organize, automate, and synchronize business processes - principally sales related activities, but also those for marketing, customer service, and technical support. The overall goals are to find, attract, and win new customers, nurture and retain those the company already has, entice former customers back into the fold, and reduce the costs of marketing and customer service.

To give students knowledge of services marketing concepts that will enable them to understand the unique challenges inherent in managing and delivering quality services, so that they can have the opportunity to apply the tools and strategies to effectively manage customer satisfaction and loyalty.

PROJECT  MANAGEMENTAND  CONSULTANCY

ELECTIVES  MODULES

16

Consultants are hired when clients do not know what action to take, when they are uncertain or when they lack sufficient time for proper reflection. The consultants’ task is to solve management problems, improve performance, implement changes or seize new opportunities. However, even when consultants are called in to help, it is far from certain that clients will follow the advice, make the right decisions or carry out the measures necessary to implement change.

DOING  BUSINESSIN  ASIA

This module aims to equip students with the awareness and understanding of the challenges of managing at a strategic level in an East Asian operational environment (China, India, Japan respectively have been selected as the key countries).

LEADERSHIP  AND  MANAGEMENT  OF  CHANGE

Students will critically examine and evaluate all aspects of leadership and change management theory and practice, develop a self-awareness and reflective learning capacity in terms of their personal attitude to leading change in organizations.

Globalization means that almost every company is affected by competition from foreign enterprises. Many firms are seeking opportunities to enter new foreign markets and expand in ones they already have penetrated. In this course, students will learn about the formation and implementation of business strategy, as well as the latest research about global business strategy, which challenges traditional ways of thinking.
