Models 721,722,723 and 724 Remote Afterloader Source Assemblies. We request that the material of the Model 772 Source Capsule be modified to include Types 316 and 316L Stainless Steel. On 8 March 1995, prototype Model 774 source capsules, manufactured from Type 316L Stainless Steel were subjected to the tests for classification C533312 in accordance with ANSI N542 with satisfactory results. On 29 March 1995, prototype Model 774 source capsules, manufactured from Type 316L Stainless Steel were subjected to the tests for special form radioactive material in accordance with 10 CFR 71 with satisfactory results. Over the period of 19-30 October 1995, prototype Model 77490 source capsules, manufactured from Type 316L Stainless Steel were subjected to the tests for classification C533312 in accordance with ANSI N542 with satisfactory results. Reports of these tests were reported in our applications dated 12 April 1995 and 3 November 1995. Based on the similarity between the designs of the Models 772 and 774 source capsules, we conclude that these test results demonstrate that the Model 772, manufactured from Types 316 and 316L will also satisfy these test conditions. We have included revised drawings of the Model 772 source capsule components which reflect this revision. We ask that you review this request and deem this configuration of source assembly acceptable for use with the GammaMed high dose rate remote afterloading devices. In accordance with 10 CFR 17031, item 9.C, we are enclosing a check for $230 as the fee for the review of this amendment request. We trust that this application is satisfactory.
