Starting in the 1920s, the oppressive world of the Jim Crow south began to drive BlackAmericans northward, where jobs and opportunities were far better. While anti-black racismwasn't just found in the south, the newly arrive residents of cities like St. Joseph, Detroit, andChicago had a great chance of upward mobility than they did elsewhere.
This movement of people became known as the Great Migration and would span over fiftyyears! Cities in the north were shaped forever by this movement and today, the story of Blackhistory is their history.
Over the next several pages, you'll join in on the journey. With three paths to follow, you'lllearn how each of our migrators settled into their new homes. This workbook is designed tobe played with multiple times until all the stories have been explored. Don't stop with just one!
