On December 12, 42 club members and guestspartied at the Arbor House in Applewood.Long-time members mixed with newer membersand some seldom-seen spouses for the club’sannual Christmas Party and gift exchange.

The potluck dinner was delicious, especially if you are Irish! Inasking for more side dishes and fewer desserts this year, weensured that everyone brought a side dish. We all discoveredthat there are only a limited number of ways to prepare pota-toes for a pot luck. And, who really needs dessert midway be-tween Thanksgiving and Christmas? However, the ham andturkey provided by the club were excellent! Next year perhapswe can follow Sondra Cook’s suggestion that we split thedishes up by last names (e.g., A-H = appetizers or salads; I-P =side dishes; R-Z = desserts, or some similar scheme). If youhave any suggestions on ensuring a variety of dishes, pleaseE-mail them to any Board member.

The gift “exchange” was one of those not-to-be-missed experi-ences that everyone should have at least once in his or her life.Watching Dave Fain cruise the tree for a cube-shaped pack-age, heft it to measure its weight, shake it to prove to himselfthat it sloshed, then lose it to another thirsty beer-lover, wasworth the price of admission! That case of Left Hand MountainMiser was fun for everyone except Dave, who ended up with acase of Boulevard Wheat Beer as a consolation prize.

Or Ralph Malewska unwrapping a package and finding a Lucas“Prince of Darkness” clock inside. After that clock was“appropriated,” Ralph unwrapped another package and found aTriumph clock inside! Of course, that didn’t last any longer thanthe Lucas clock, so our esteemed Prime Minister was one ofthe winner’s (?) of the “most gifts lost award.”

At last year’s Christmas party, Liz Reed won that award whenshe lost more of her gifts to other club members than anyoneelse. This year she selected one of the first gifts under the treeand it turned out to be the club gift—a fleece jacket bearing theclub logo. Since the club gift cannot be “acquired” by anyoneelse, Liz had opened the nicest gift of the night andnever had to worry about losing it. Congratulations,Liz!

Everyone had a good dinner and a lot of laughs dur-ing the gift exchange. What more can you ask for?

Photos: Two of the club’s “elder statesmen,”David Farrell and Don Joy, conversing during thecocktail hour; Liz Reed modeling her club gift—afleece jacket; did Terry Hughes just “acquire” thatTriumph book from Gary Briggs?

Bo ard Meetin g, D ec. 7, 2009 @ R ed R o cks Grill in Mo r ris o n

Present were Ralph Malewska, Gordon Kenney, Andrew and Kitty Janiesch, Silvio DeBartolomeis,Steve Hart, Dave Fain, and Wally Gamble; Bob Becwar and Gary Briggs were guests.

Prime Minister Ralph Malewska opened the meeting in Morrison at 7:00 pm.

Bob B. discussed the Christmas Party arrangement; the board authorized him to spend up to $125for ham and turkey.

Gary B. showed some of the prizes for the January banquet that he has obtained from various sup-pliers and discussed other door prizes; he will also donate a prize from his store and solicit itemsfrom each of our advertisers. A free membership and a TR logo clock were added to the prizesfrom the club; the MOL with send the suppliers a thank-you note. (Lynette has names and ad-dresses). Gordon reviewed the list of individual to receive Certificates of Appreciation and Andrewwill take care of getting the MOY plaques made.

Ralph asked for the officer duties printouts to be submitted; he has received only a few 1 to date.

Silvio asked for Ideas for club events. Bob suggested a Coors Tours in late March or April, Ralphsuggested an early (March) frost drive, Silvio will host the SU Carburetor workshop, and Kitty sug-gested a new member pot-luck. Other possibilities include a visit to the Kats shop, joining with theMotoring Club of Northern Colorado in Ft. Collins for an event, and a Pints Pub/DAM tour.

Ralph discussed jump-starting the Tom and Dorthy High Memorial food and cash collection at theJanuary banquet.

We adjourned at 8:10 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Gordon KenneyMinister of Letters
