One of them falls to the ground. He doesn’t seem to be breathing; his eyes are rolled back in his head. Terrified, his friend pulls out his phone and dials 9-1-1. “My friend is dead! What can I do” He cries to the dispatcher. In a calm, soothing voice, the dispatcher says, “Just take it easy. I can help. First, let’s make sure he’s dead.” There is a moment of silence, and then a single shot is heard. The guy’s voice comes back on the line: “Okay, now what?” Foolishness is really no laughing matter. Some of us live with fools, work with fools, and maybe would admit that we are fools. What is a fool and what do we do with them?     A Small Group is a place where you can gather with others, study

    God's Word, and build meaningful relationships. It is a placewhere you can connect with others in personal and meaningful

    ways outside of Sunday morning.

    Our Small Groups meet in people's homes on different nights ofthe week. We have various Small Groups for various seasons oflife; From college age and young families to empty nesters and

    senior saints... we have a group of you!

    Nigeria: Pray for Sanga BarauWho is Undergoing SurgeriesAfter an Attack

    In April 2016, Sanga Barau waswalking to her farm in northern Nigeriawhen Muslim Fulani herdsmen (a nomadic tribe which oftencollaborates with Boko Haram terrorists) shot in her direction. Thebullet struck her upper neck, dislocating her jaw and damaging teeth.She fell unconscious. Hours later, Sanga was rushed to the ButhHospital. Since then, she has had numerous surgeries and still needsmore reconstructive surgeries on her face. For several weeks, Sanga

  • was not allowed to leave the hospital until her family paid her bills,which they were unable to do. She returned home after VOM steppedin to assist with her current and future medical expenses, and ongoingcare. Pray that Sanga’s surgeries are successful and she experienceshealing. Pray that her testimony will encourage and challenge otherbelievers.

    Small groups are kicking off for the year soon with sign-ups afterchurch on September 17 and 24 for our 13 groups, of all ages andtimes of the week! You can check with Pastor Kevin any time forgroup times, locations and study topics.

    Deeper Life SeriesGod has a desire that you become stronger and spiritually more mature. The

    Deeper Life Series provides solid Bible exposition through various books of theBible to move you deeper into the Lord and the LBC Discipleship Process.

    These Classes are designed to provide increasing spiritual stability andstrength in your life as an adult at LBC. Special attention is given to the verseby verse explanation of what God is teaching within each paragraph of every

    section of the Bible book. Then these truths are applied specifically andpersonally to your life situation. Subjects and topics are covered when they are

  • Sept 3: Revelation: The Glorious Lamb starts this Sunday. The classwill begin with rich exposure to the perspective to take on the bookand an awe inspiring vision of what Jesus Christ looks like in His glory.We will meet in Room 204 (the Great Room) and start promptly at 9:00am.

    Sept 10: This Sunday we will turn attention to the letters to the sevenchurches. Here we discover what the Head of our church says to ustoday. He knows everything there is to know about Laurelwood. Thismaterial sets the stage for the rest of the book.

    Sept 17: What does Jesus say to our church today? This Sunday wewill study Revelation chapter 3. How do we keep the church doorsopen for years to come? What is our hope to escape the Day of theLord and the tribulation period? How do we have a burning zeal towalk close to Jesus?

    Sept 24: This Sunday we will experience overwhelming awe at thebeauty of the glorious sights and sounds in God's throne room. Learnthe different thrones of God in the Bible, the identify of the 24 eldersand the 4 living creatures. How can we learn to practice the maintheme constantly happening in God's throne room?

    Oct 1: Why was a search made in heaven for someone worthy to takethe book of judgments from God? Learn the 3 different groups thatsing 3 different stanzas of heaven's worship song. This Sunday JesusChrist will be lifted up high during the 9:00 am hour!

    Discovery SeriesOur Discovery series classes are for you to meet our pastors and leaders, hearwhat we believe, know our vision for discipleship and discover along the wayhow God is prompting you to grow in your faith. Pastor Mike’s Discovery class

    is an introduction to our church and what it looks like to be a disciple of Christ. The other classes will unpack each area of discipleship in greater depth. Eachclass not only shares our faith and vision, but also practical steps for spiritual

    Oct 12 - Nov 14 | Love & Logic Parenting Class | Rm 204 |Thursdays 6:30-8:15 | Kristen Arave Learn how to avoid powerstruggles, put an end to whining, tantrums, and back talk. Learn toguide kids as they solve their own problem while raising responsiblechildren. Discuss how to stay calm in stressful parenting situations anddiscipline without showing anger or frustration. Gain more confidenceas a parent while leaving your kids feeling great about themselves.
