Page 20: T HE N EW T ESTAMENT C HURCH T HE H OUSEHOLD OF G OD

BLESSEDNESS OF THIS RELATIONSHIP

• God’s Ever Present Love.

• “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” {Romans 8:38,39}

BLESSEDNESS OF THIS RELATIONSHIP

• Heir of God. • “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” {1 Peter 1:3-5}

Page 22: T HE N EW T ESTAMENT C HURCH T HE H OUSEHOLD OF G OD

THIS RELATIONSHIP DEMANDS:

– “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” {1 John 2:15,16}

Page 23: T HE N EW T ESTAMENT C HURCH T HE H OUSEHOLD OF G OD

– “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” {1 John 1:7}

Page 24: T HE N EW T ESTAMENT C HURCH T HE H OUSEHOLD OF G OD

THIS RELATIONSHIP DEMANDS:

• Wear family name.– “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is

no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” {Acts 4:12}

– “Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.” {1 Peter 4:16}

Page 25: T HE N EW T ESTAMENT C HURCH T HE H OUSEHOLD OF G OD

THIS RELATIONSHIP DEMANDS:

• Love our brethren.– “If someone says, "I love God," and hates his

brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.” {1 John 4:20,21}

– “Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”{1 John 3:15,16}

HOW WE BECOME CHILDREN OF GOD

• By being “born again.”

• “Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus said to Him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born? Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” {John 3:3-5}

Page 28: T HE N EW T ESTAMENT C HURCH T HE H OUSEHOLD OF G OD

HOW WE BECOME CHILDREN OF GOD

• By obedience to God’s word.

• “Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.” {1 Peter 1:22,23}
