Flat Panel Detector Input Dose Requirement• Since digital Flat Panel Detectors can produce acceptable

images over a wide range of input doses, it is imperative that the entrance dose to the panel for every view is kept at the minimum usable level.

• The Association of Physicist’s in Medicine (AAPM) has established a procedure and mythology for insuring that the correct dose is given to the patient for each view of various patient sizes.

• This exposure index number is the result of measuring the average radiation to the FPD for a given view. A target exposure index is given for each view and the Udicon Software measures and calculates the actual radiation dose to the panel vs the target and a deviation Index is displayed. The Toshiba DR retrofit adds this information to the DICOM header and display.

• The Udicon Software for Toshiba DR Panels also supports Dose Area Products devices that measures the actual radiation at a point before entering the patient

Toshiba DR Retrofits use enhancement software developed by Context Vision, a world leader and Gold Standard for Medical Digital Image Processing.

GOP® methodology is unique in detecting structures by examining the significance of each pixel in an image in relation to the wider context in which they appear. In this way, once the structure is identified and analyzed, noise can be suppressed and the true structure, however weak, can be emphasized and seen more clearly.
