Christian blessings to all missionaries!

This project of the Chosen Vessel aims to bring missionaries for a united prayer, and to reignite faith in the power of prayer. During the seven days, December 16-22, each missionary of the 1000MM in South Korea is to spend time in praying to God and communing with Him through His Word using the Daily Devotional Sheet provided. Although each is given this daily guide, the missionary may have the liberty to revise or change as the Holy Spirit leads him/her. The objective is that the missionaries invest time to pray for specific prayer requests and others coming from their own or those around them, and that they spend meaningful experiences daily at the feet of Jesus, studying, meditating and claiming the promises in His Word.

In addition, this project also longs to bring changes in the lives of those we pray for and our own, as well. It hopes to affect each missionary in a way that will increase his/her faith, bring a revival, and move him/her to a transformation guided by the Spirit not only during the prayer week but also after the project finishes. It also looks forward to helping the missionary create a habit of prayer and communing with God, and be converted on a daily basis as a result of this project.

Therefore, we all encourage everyone to pray, study and meditate God’s word, and claim the promises of God not only for seven days but throughout one’s life! The Spirit utters:

If you will seek the Lord and be converted every day; if you will of your own spiritual choice be free and joyous in God; if with gladsome consent of heart to His gracious call you come wearing the yoke of Christ, --the yoke of obedience and service, --all your murmurings will be stilled, all your difficulties will be removed, all the perplexing problems that now confront you will be solved. {Thoughts from the Mount of Blessing, page 101.3}

During this 7-Day Prayer Watch, we will be praying God’s Word as The Chosen Vessel’s Theme for this year is “Pleading to Have the Heart of Jesus”. Why pray God’s Word? It is because to pray God’s Word is to pray His will. And since we have God’s Word in our prayer, we are surely to receive answers from God, and be empowered by the power of His promises being fulfilled in our lives. Let us claim this assurance from 1 John 5:14: “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will (according to His Word), He will hear us.”

We pray that this 7-day journey of praying God’s Word will be a life-changing and faith-renewing experience for all of us.

Thank you for your faithful prayers and participation.

Claiming His promises,THE CHOSEN VESSEL

The 7-Day Prayer Watch is divided into two sections. One section is the Personal Devotions using the Daily Prayer Sheet as a guide. The other section is the United Prayer in which you will have to spend time during the day to pray with your prayer buddy.

MATERIALS NEEDED

For Personal Devotions

For United Prayer (With a prayer buddy)

Bible List of Prayer Requests Prayer Journal Sheet Pen A Prayer Buddy A Communication Device

DAILY DEVOTIONAL SHEET

A Daily Devotional Sheet for each of the 7 days is provided to guide the missionaries as to what Bible passage to study, meditate, claim and pray as part of their personal devotions. It also includes passages from the inspired writings, and suggestions on how to pray the key text and go through the activity. This is a commitment to be done in a minimum of an hour each day.

PRAYER JOURNAL SHEET

Each missionary will be given a copy of the Prayer Journal Sheet where they are to write prayer requests, answered prayers, daily blessings and grace, personal reflections and commitment (to God), and other insights and impressions the Spirit may be using to guide us in our study and prayers.

LIST OF PRAYER REQUESTS

This list may come from The Chosen Vessel’s Prayer Bank, prayer buddies or other people asking for prayers from the missionary. This also includes the missionary’s own requests for his family, friends, students or even himself.

PRAYER BUDDY

Each missionary is given a buddy to pray with each day. The objective is to get the missionaries involved in intercessory prayer with the personal prayer requests of their partners, with the list provided by The Chosen Vessel, and other requests. The schedule of praying together must be done days ahead before the two missionaries must pray. This way, the likelihood of not being able to pray together is avoided. Praying with someone not only helps deepen our relationship with God but also with each other. Let us therefore not give Satan a way to prevent us from praying together.

DAILY PRAYER THEME

Day 1: Prayers for Wisdom and Knowledge Day 2: Prayers for Safety

Day 3: Prayers for Strength of Character Day 4: Prayer for Overcoming Weaknessesand Temptations

DAILY PRAYER TIME

Each missionary may pray God’s Word, and for the requests at any time during the day and as often as he/she is moved by the Spirit. Likewise, this must be a part of his/her personal devotion. During the 7-Day Prayer Watch, a spirit of prayerfulness is deeply encouraged.

SPECIAL UNITED PRAYER TIME

Although praying may be done anytime, each missionary is asked to make a special united prayer for The Chosen Vessel and 1000 Missionary Movement at exactly 12:45 pm every day during the 7 days. The things to pray for during this time shall be provided by The Chosen Vessel.

“For all the promises of God in Hi/m are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” 1 Corinthians 1:20

When we pray God’s Word, the answer is certainly a “Yes” because God knows how to keep His Word. He will fulfill it to the lives of those who see it. Many times, we have heard this said to us: “Never read the Bible without praying.” But the same is also true in praying. We should never pray without reading the Bible. And what better way to pray than to claim God’s promises in His Word!

Furthermore, we should use the Word of God to guide us in all our prayers, and avoid vain repetitions when we talk to God. When we pray Scriptures, it encourages us to better understand what it says. Only until we understand it, that we can apply its significance into our lives when we pray. It helps us to pray not for empty and vague requests such as “Bless our family” and “Bless our loved ones”. Instead, we are more focused on asking specific things that the Word of God itself commands us to have.

Below are simple steps on how we can pray God’s Word:

STEP 1. Read aloud God’s Word for the day. God encourages us to do this with a text from Jeremiah 33:3. It reads, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” If we look up the word “call” in Strongs’ Hebrew definition, it means “to cry out” or “to utter aloud”. Reading God’s Word aloud is a good exercise to hear God’s voice speaking to us. Hearing God’s Word helps increase faith for “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17)

STEP 2. Read the given passage a few times more until you have memorized a large portion of it if not all. Reading and re-reading God’s Word is a good exercise to impress it more deeply upon our minds. As we read it many times, some words or phrases will stand out and give us a stronger impression on what God is telling us from the passage. Scripture Memory is an essential part of praying God’s Word. Solomon tells us, “He also taught me, and said to me: ‘Let your heart retain my words; Keep my commands, and live. Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.’” Proverbs 4:4-5. Moreover, John 15:7 also promises that whatever we ask shall be done for us as long as we let God’s Word abide in us. This means, we have to keep the Scriptures in mind and heart resulting to obedience.

STEP 3. Meditate on the given passage. Paul exhorts us in 1 Timothy 4:15 to “Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.” Meditation requires time because we need to slow down and hear what God is telling us. This is why this 7-Day Prayer Watch is committed to having at least an hour of personal devotions. Let us not grieve Jesus again just the way the disciples did when He was praying in the garden and He had to tell them, “What? Could you not watch with Me ONE HOUR? Watch and pray; lest you enter in to temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” The quote from EGW below is also encouraging:

Little benefit is to be derived from a hasty reading of the Scriptures. One may read the whole Bible through, and yet fail to see its beauty or to comprehend its depth of meaning. One passage studied until its significance is clear to the mind, and its relation to the plan of salvation evident, is of more value than the perusal of many chapters with no definite purpose in view and no positive instruction gained. Keep your Bible with you. As you have opportunity,

HOW TO PRAY GOD’S WORD?(A MUST-READ BEFORE YOU PROCEED)

Page 7: thechosenvessel1000mm.files.wordpress.com  · Web view12/7/2018  · Day 5: Prayers for the Future. Day 6: Prayers for the Outpouring of the Holy Spirit

read it; fix the texts in your memory. Even while you are walking in the street, you may read a passage and meditate upon it, thus fixing it on the mind. {YRP 115.4}

STEP 4. Look for ways to apply this promise to specific situations or needs in your life or others who seek for your prayers. We must put God’s word into application (James 1:22). Don’t think that a passage doesn’t apply to your life for the Bible itself says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17)”. If you are a man or woman of God, then each passage of the Scripture is for you either to teach, correct, instruct or equip you. There is a blessing from each passage. Claim by applying it into your life.

STEP 5. Pray back God’s Word to Him. God is pleased to hear us reminding Him of His promises not because He forgets but because He wants us to claim the truth that He is faithful and true. Make each phrase of the passage into a prayer by paraphrasing it or changing the pronouns to your name (or someone else’s who needs your prayer).

STEP 6. Claim the promises in the passage and thank God for the anticipated answer. When we pray God’s Word, we receive the peace of God (Philippians 4:6-7) because we know that He hears us (1 John 5:15), and that He will answer us even before we call Him (Isaiah 65:24).

STEP 7. Journal your prayers and God’s answer as a reminder of God’s faithfulness. This is a good habit to help you in times of discouragement, suffering, sickness and pains. Your journal will always be a reminder of how God had been faithful, merciful, loving and caring towards you in the past. And as you re-read the many miracles and blessings He wrought in your life, you can be assured that He never changes.

QUOTES FROM EGW ABOUT HAVING WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE FROM GOD

True wisdom consists in knowing God. “Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches; but let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth Me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment and righteousness, in the earth; for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.” Jeremiah 9:23, 24. To know God is the sum of all scientific knowledge for Christ, who is the only manifestation of God, is the Source of all creation. “O the depths of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out!” For of Him, and through Him, and to Him, are all things.” Romans 11:33, 36. Christ is the beginning, the head, or source, of the creation of God. Revelation 3:14. He is “the firstborn of every creature.” Colossians 1:1-5. “For in Him were all things created, in the heavens and upon the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through Him, and unto Him; and He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.” Colossians 1:16, 17. Therefore the study of natural science must begin and end with the study of God in Christ. {HTGK 13}

But Christ is the righteousness of God. Righteousness is the character of God. Therefore no one can know God without knowing His righteousness; and so the study of true science reveals the righteousness of God. And this is wisdom, for “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.” Proverbs 1:7. The knowledge of the righteousness of God is connected with the knowledge of the works of God that we see with our eyes; for the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation, and the power of God is seen in the things that are made. Romans 1:16, 20. Therefore when the Bible speaks of wisdom and knowledge, it means not only the wisdom and knowledge which would be counted as such by men, but also “all wisdom and spiritual understanding.” {HTGK 21}

Satan has summoned the hosts of darkness to war against the saints. We cannot afford to be indifferent to his attacks. He comes in many ways, and we must have clear spiritual discernment, that we may be able to discern when he is seeking to gain possession of our minds. God calls on those on whom the light of truth is shining to take their stand in His army. He calls upon them to show their loyalty by walking in the light He has given.  {OHC 19.4}

We have unseen foes to meet, evil men are agents for the powers of darkness to work through, and without spiritual discernment the soul will be ignorant of Satan's devices, and be ensnared and stumble and fall. He who would overcome must hold fast to Christ. He must not look back, but keep the eye ever upward. Mount up by the Mediator, keeping hold of the Mediator, reaching upward to one line of work after another, making no provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. {6BC 1094.3}

QUOTES FROM EGW ON GOD’S PROTECTION

The people of God will not be free from suffering; but while persecuted and distressed, while they endure privation and suffer for want of food, they will not be left to perish. That God who cared for Elijah will not pass by one of His self-sacrificing children. He who numbers the hairs of their head will care for them, and in time of famine they shall be satisfied. While the wicked are dying from hunger and pestilence, angels will shield the righteous and supply their wants. To him that “walketh righteously” is the promise; “Bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure” (Isaiah 33:15, 16). “When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them” (chap. 41:17).

“Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines,”... yet shall they that fear Him “rejoice in the Lord” and joy in the God of their salvation (Habakkuk 3:17, 18)....

“The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul” (Psalm 121:6, 7). “He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust.... Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling” (Psalm 91:3-10).—The Great Controversy, 627-630.

Those who receive the seal of the living God and are protected in the time of trouble must reflect the image of Jesus fully.—Early Writings, 71.

QUOTES FROM EGW ON OVERCOMING STRENGTH OF CHARACTER

Strength of character consists of two things—power of will and power of self-control. Many youth mistake strong, uncontrolled passion for strength of character; but the truth is that he who is mastered by his passions is a weak man. The real greatness and nobility of the man is measured by his powers to subdue his feelings, not by the power of his feelings to subdue him. The strongest man is he who, while sensitive to abuse, will yet restrain passion and forgive his enemies.4 {CG 161.4}

Page 15 of 29

Page 16: thechosenvessel1000mm.files.wordpress.com  · Web view12/7/2018  · Day 5: Prayers for the Future. Day 6: Prayers for the Outpouring of the Holy Spirit

But the teaching of this parable should not be misapplied. God's forgiveness toward us lessens in no wise our duty to obey Him. So the spirit of forgiveness toward our fellow men does not lessen the claim of just obligation. In the prayer which Christ taught His Disciples He said, “Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” Matthew 6:12. By this He did not mean that in order to be forgiven our sins we must not require our just dues from our debtors. If they cannot pay, even though this may be the result of unwise management, they are not to be cast into prison, oppressed, or even treated harshly; but the parable does not teach us to encourage indolence. The word of God declares that if a man will not work, neither shall he eat. (2 Thessalonians 3:10.) The Lord does not require the hard-working man to support others in idleness. With many there is a waste of time, a lack of effort, which brings to poverty and want. If these faults are not corrected by those who indulge them, all that might be done in their behalf would be like putting treasure into a bag with holes. Yet there is an unavoidable poverty, and we are to manifest tenderness and compassion toward those who are unfortunate. We should treat others just as we ourselves, in like circumstances, would wish to be treated.

“Judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts.” 1 Corinthians 4:5. We cannot read the heart. Ourselves faulty, we are not qualified to sit in judgment upon others. Finite men can judge only from outward appearance. To Him alone who knows the secret springs of action, and who deals tenderly and compassionately, is it given to decide the case of every soul.

“‘Judge not, that ye be not judged.’ Do not think yourself better than other men, and set yourself up as their judge. Since you cannot discern motive, you are incapable of judging another. In criticizing him, you are passing sentence upon yourself; for you show that you are a participant with Satan, the accuser of the brethren. The Lord says, ‘Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves.’ This is our work.”-Ellen G. White, The Desire of Ages , p. 314 .

QUOTES FROM EGW ON HOW ARE WE TO OVERCOME TEMTATIONS

Power of Self-Control Must Be Regained. --One of the most deplorable effects of the original apostasy was the loss of man's power of self-control. Only as this power is regained, can there be real progress.

The body is the only medium through which the mind and the soul are developed for the upbuilding of character. Hence it is that the adversary of souls directs his temptations to the enfeebling and degrading of the physical powers. His success here means the surrender to evil of the whole being. The tendencies of our physical nature, unless under the dominion of a higher power, will surely work ruin and death.

The body is to be brought into subjection. The higher powers of the being are to rule. The passions are to be controlled by the will, which is itself to be under the control of God. The kingly power of reason, sanctified by divine grace, is to bear sway in our lives.-- The Ministry of Healing, pages 129, 130.

Personal Relationship With God .--Keep your wants, your joys, your sorrows, your cares, and your fears, before God. . . . "The Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy." His heart of love is touched by our sorrows, and even by our utterance of them. . . . Nothing that in any way concerns our peace is too small for Him to notice. There is no chapter in our experience too dark for Him to read; there is no perplexity too difficult for Him to unravel. No calamity can befall the least of His children, no anxiety harass the soul, no joy cheer, no sincere prayer escape the lips, of which our heavenly Father is unobservant, or in which He takes no immediate interest. "He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds." The relations between God and each soul are as distinct and full as though there were not another soul for whom He gave His beloved Son.-- Steps to Christ, pages 104, 105.

Victory Assured Through Christ's Sinless Life .--The Saviour took upon Himself the infirmities of humanity, and lived a sinless life, that men might have no fear that because of the weakness of human nature they could not overcome. Christ came to make us "partakers of the divine nature," and His life declares that humanity, combined with divinity, does not commit sin.

The Saviour overcame to show man how he may overcome. All the temptations of Satan, Christ met with the word of God. By trusting in God's promises, He received power to obey God's commandments, and the tempter could gain no advantage. To every temptation His answer was, "It is written." So God has given us His word wherewith to resist evil. Exceeding great and precious promises are ours, that by these we "might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." 2 Peter 1:4.

Bid the tempted one look not to circumstances, to the weakness of self, or to the power of temptation, but to the power of God's word. All its strength is ours. "Thy word," says the psalmist, "have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee." "By the word of Thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer." Psalms 119:11; 17:4.

QUOTES FROM EGW ON GOD’S PLAN FOR OUR FUTURE

“We have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and His teaching in our past history.”— Ellen G. White

Our plans are not always God's plans. He may see that it is best for us and for His cause to refuse our very best intentions, as He did in the case of David. But of one thing we may be assured, He will bless and use in the advancement of His cause those who sincerely devote themselves and all they have to His glory. If He sees it best not to grant their desires He will counterbalance the refusal by giving them tokens of His love and entrusting to them another service.

In His loving care and interest for us, often He who understands us better than we understand ourselves refuses to permit us selfishly to seek the gratification of our own ambition. He does not permit us to pass by the homely but sacred duties that lie next us. Often these duties afford the very training essential to prepare us for a higher work. Often our plans fail that God's plans for us may succeed.

We are never called upon to make a real sacrifice for God. Many things He asks us to yield to Him, but in doing this we are but giving up that which hinders us in the heavenward way. Even when called upon to surrender those things which in themselves are good, we may be sure that God is thus working out for us some higher good.

In the future life the mysteries that here have annoyed and disappointed us will be made plain. We shall see that our seemingly unanswered prayers and disappointed hopes have been among our greatest blessings.

We are to look upon every duty, however humble, as sacred because it is a part of God's service. Our daily prayer should be, "Lord, help me to do my best. Teach me how to do better work. Give me energy and cheerfulness. Help me to bring into my service the loving ministry of the Saviour." Published in The Ministry of Healing, pp. 473, 474.

Remember that you will never reach a higher standard than you yourself set. Then set your mark high, and step by step, even though it be by painful effort, by self-denial and sacrifice, ascend the whole length of the ladder of progress. ~Ellen G. White~

In reviewing our past history, having traveled over every step of advance to our present standing, I can say, Praise God! As I see what the Lord has wrought, I am filled with astonishment, and with confidence in Christ as leader. We have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and His teaching in our past history.—1915, Life Sketches of Ellen G. White, 196.

"There is a work of sacred importance for ministers and people to do. They are to study the history of the cause and people of God. They are not to forget the past dealing of God with His people." —E. G. White MS. 22, 1890.

"Those who enter the work at the present time know comparatively little of the self-denial and self-sacrifice of those upon whom the Lord laid the burden of His work at its beginning. The experience of the past should be told them again and again; for they are to carry forward the work with the same humility and self-sacrifice that characterized the true workers in the past."—E. G. White, in Review and Herald, June 3, 1902.

"If they [our pioneer workers] would recount the sacrifices made by those who led out in the work, and would keep before the people the simplicity of the early workers, and the power of God that was manifested to keep the work free from error and delusion and extravagance, they would have a molding influence upon the workers at this time. When we lose sight of whaf the Lord has done in the past for His people, we lose sight of His present working in their behalf."—E. G. White MS. 23, 1899.

Whatever We Need, We May Claim in Prayer—Every promise in the word of God furnishes us with subject matter for prayer, presenting the pledged word of Jehovah as our assurance. Whatever spiritual blessing we need, it is our privilege to claim through Jesus. We may tell the Lord, with the simplicity of a child, exactly what we need. We may state to Him our temporal matters, asking Him for bread and raiment as well as for the bread of life and the robe of Christ's righteousness. Your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things, and you are invited to ask Him concerning them. It is through the name of Jesus that every favor is received. God will honor that name, and will supply your necessities from the riches of His liberality.—(Thoughts From the Mount of Blessing, 133.)

QUOTES FROM EGW ON THE OUTPOURING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

We Should Pray for the Holy Spirit as Did the Disciples at Pentecost—The heart must be emptied of every defilement and cleansed for the indwelling of the Spirit. It was by the confession and forsaking of sin, by earnest prayer and consecration of themselves to God, that the early disciples prepared for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost. The same work, only in greater degree, must be done now.... Pr 118.3

Conditions of Receiving The Holy Spirit will come to all who are begging for the bread of life to give to their neighbors.— Testimonies for the Church 6:90. ChS 252.1 When we bring our hearts into unity with Christ, and our lives into harmony with His work, the Spirit that fell on the disciples on the day of Pentecost will fall on us.—Testimonies for the Church 8:246. ChS 252.2 It is not because of any restriction on the part of God that the riches of His grace do not flow earthward to men.—Christ's Object Lessons, 419. ChS 252.3 The Spirit awaits our demand and reception.—Christ's Object Lessons, 121. ChS 252.4 Since this is the means by which we are to receive power, why do we not hunger and thirst for the gift of the Spirit? Why do we not talk of it, pray for it, and preach concerning it?—The Acts of the Apostles, 50. ChS 252.5 If the fulfillment of the promise is not seen as it might be, it is because the promise is not appreciated as it should be. If all were willing, all would be filled with the Spirit.—The Acts of the Apostles, 50. ChS 252.6 For the daily baptism of the Spirit, every worker should offer his petition to God. Companies of Christian workers should gather to ask for special help, for heavenly wisdom, that they may know how to plan and execute wisely. Especially should they pray that God will baptize His chosen ambassadors in mission fields with a rich measure of His Spirit.—The Acts of the Apostles, 50, 51. ChS 252.7 Let Christians put away all dissension, and give themselves to God for the saving of the lost. Let them ask in faith for the promised blessing, and it will come.—Testimonies for the Church 8:21. ChS 252.8 The disciples did not ask for a blessing for themselves. They were weighted with the burden of souls. The gospel was to be carried to the ends of the earth, and they claimed the endowment of power that Christ had promised. Then it was that the Holy Spirit was poured out, and thousands were converted in a day.—The Southern Watchman, August 1, 1905. ChS 252.9 The great outpouring of the Spirit of God, which lightens the whole earth with His glory, will not come until we have an enlightened people, that know by experience what it means to be laborers together with God. When we have entire, wholehearted consecration to the service of Christ, God will recognize the fact by an outpouring of His Spirit without measure; but this will not be while the largest portion of the church are not laborers together with God.—The Review and Herald, July 21, 1896. ChS 253.2

Pray for the Latter Rain—We must pray that God will unseal the fountain of the water of life. And we must ourselves receive of the living water. Let us, with contrite hearts, pray most earnestly that now, in the time of the latter rain, the showers of grace may fall upon us. At every meeting we attend our prayers should ascend, that at this very time God will impart warmth and moisture to our souls. As we seek God for the Holy Spirit, it will work in us meekness, humbleness of mind, a conscious dependence upon God for the perfecting latter rain. If we pray for the blessing in faith, we shall receive it as God has promised.—(Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers, 508.) Pr 119.6

We should pray as earnestly for the descent of the Holy Spirit as the disciples prayed on the day of Pentecost. If they needed it at that time, we need it more today. Pr 119.3

QUOTES FROM EGW ON OUR WILL TO MATCH GOD’S

The Spring of All Actions.--Your will is the spring of all your actions. This will, that forms so important a factor in the character of man, was at the Fall given into the control of Satan; and he has ever since been working in man to will and to do of his own pleasure, but to the utter ruin and misery of man. 686 But the infinite sacrifice of God in giving Jesus, His beloved Son, to become a sacrifice for sin, enables Him to say, without violating one principle of His government: "Yield yourself up to Me; give Me that will; take it from the control of Satan, and I will take possession of it; then I can work in you to will and to do of My good pleasure." When He gives you the mind of Christ, your will becomes as His will, and your character is transformed to be like Christ's character.--5T 515 (1889).
