    The north and south World Trade CentersTowers, Manhattan, NY and the Army wing of thePentagon, Arlington County VA weredistroyed or damaged by terrorist attacks. ThePentagon was hit at 09:43HrsThe Governor, Commonwealth of Virginia(CoV)declared a state of emergency at 12:OOPM,September 11, 2001.Arlington County declared a local emergencyat approximat 12:30PM.Expedited request for Federal disasterassistance was sent to FEMA.FEMA received expedited request forFederal disaster assistance.Federal Coordinating Centers were alertedto determine the need for hospital bedsand patient transportaton.The Regional Operations Center (ROC) isoperating out of the alternate facility at WillowGrove Naval Air Station, PA.Four search and rescue teams (Virginia,Maryland, and Tennessee) andan Incident Support Team continue tosupport the operation.Three Disaster Mortuary Teams and threeDisaster Medical Assistance Teams fromMaryland, North Carlina and Georgia areon the scene or arriving to assist.

    Arlington Fire Department declared the fireextinguished at 1418 hrs. The fireDepartment and DoD are monitoring thescene for two to three more daysThe ERT-A Team has been deployed and is inVirginia awaiting orders.Beginning 0700 ROC staff will report to theRegion III ROC in the Philadelphia office.

    Two FEMA Region III representatives havebeen deployed to the FBI Joint OperationsCenter at the Ft. Myers Community Center inArlington, Virginia.Intermittent traffic is allowed on the I-395loop around Washington, DC and streets arebarricaded around the Pentagon.AT&T reports no long distance damage.Verizon has installed six T1 lines intoPentagon for public switch network and70 lines for FEMA.Debris Management cell coming fromLouisville, Ky to arrive at ERT-A location inArlington, VA.FCO and FEMA Headquarters officialstoured the Petagon and participated in anews conference at FEMA Headquarters.Disaster Field Office established at2200 Clarendon, Blvd., Arlington, VA.Three voluntary agencies are feeding approx.1 500 emergency workers per day in ArlingtonVA. They are Christ In Action, ARC/SouthernBaptist and the Salvation Army.President signed an emergency declaration(FEMA-3168-EM-VA) for Virginia. Theassistance will be provided to ArlingtonCounty as deemed necessary. Tom Davieswas named as FCO.Veterinary Medical Assistance Teams have beencalled into action to help in the rescue efforts.DFO fully operational.Arlington, VA fire deparment declared the flare-upfire at the Pentagon extinguished at 2:18 p.m.EOT September 13, 2001. DOD and localfire department officials will continue tomonitor the scene for the next few days.U.S. Environmental Protection Agency(EPA)has been monitoring air quality frommonitoring stations around the Penagon.

    Washington National Airport. Generalaviation remains closed to all but publicsafety air operations.EPA plans to continue to monitor for asbestosand other harmful particulates at the Pentagonfor an indefinite length of time.No debris has been removed from the site.The plan for ultimate disposal of all debris isto truck the material to a Virginia Dept. ofEnvironmental Quality-approved disposal sitelocated south of Richmond, VA.ARC has 12 Emergency Response Vehiclessupporting the disaster area.Twenty-three of the 38 compromised columes atthe Pentagon have been shored up.A public Assistance Applicant Brief ng/Kickoffmeeting has been scheduled for September19, 2001 with Arlington County and otherjurisdictions to outline infrastructure repairand replacement issues.Reagan Washington National Airport is theonly major airport in the national that remainsclosed. The U. S. Secretary of Transportationsaid the airport will remain closed indefinitely.The ARC is operating 1 1 feeding sites servingmeals and snacks.A medical Support Team is positioned inRockville, MD.All US&R task forces have demobilized.

    ARC served 16,984 meals/snacks to date andhas made 534 mental health contacts.Commonweaolth of Virginia has receiveda Disaster Declaration FEMA-1392-DR-VA

The Pentagon was hi at 09:43Hrs.The Governor, Commonwealth of Virginia(CoV) declareda state of emergency at 12:OOPM, September 11, 2001Arlington County declared a local emergency atapproximate 12:30PM.Expedited request for Federal Assistance was sent toFEMA for review.FEMA received expedited request for Federal disasterassistance.Disaster Field Office was established forFEMA-3168-EM-VA then transferred toFEMA-1392-DR-VA at 2200 Clarendon Blvd.,Arlington, VADisaster Field Office fully operationalArlington County was declared for Individual Assistancefor Categories A and B at 100% Federal funding and allcounties are eligible to apply for assistance under theHazard Mitigation Grant Program. Tom Davies wasnamed FCO.A Public Assistance (PA) Applicant Briefing/KickoffMeeting for Arlington County was conducted and tworequest for PA have been received.The FBI assumed crime-scene jurisdiction at the Pentagonterrorist attack site this date from the Arlington CountyFire Department.Terrorism Victims Assistance Center established by theGovernor of Virginia.EPA Region 3 reported the second floor of the Pentagonis 65-70 % "cleared". Work on the second floor shouldbe completed by next week.

    TeleregistrationsPresident Bush visits FEMA Hqts.Reagan Washington National was re-reopened today.Flights to start on October 4, 2001.The Department of Labor has agreed to extend DisasterUnemployment Assistance benefits to thoes who are totallyout of work as a direct result of the closing of ReaganWashington National Airport.SBA conducted a check presentation program.Four specialized burn nurses from Veterans Adm. havebeen deployed to treat burn patients.

    Eighteen Mission Assignments have been issued to date.Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport wasreopened October 4, 2001 with restricted flight schedule.All roads near the Pentagon are open. Parking is limitedin the South Parking Lot.A total of 44 Requests for Public Assistance have beenreceived, reviewed, and entered into NEMIS.DFTO conducted 20 training events with approximately140 participants.The DoD is hosting a memorial service at the Pentagonsite. DFO FEMA staff are attendingA total of 47 Requests for Public Assistance have beenreceived, reviewed, and entered into NEMIS.SBA opened a second Center in the City of Alexandria.DFO for FEMA-1392-DR-VA will close operation onOctober 24, 2001.
