  • SOSSM Services Latest Information January 2010

    New Tables: With this update, 50 new or updated wear tables have been added to this repository. The updated tables were created with significantly larger data sets. This update contains several unique models manufactured by Caterpillar India Private Limited (CIPL). Machine Engine Wear Tables: Some Cat machine engines have a standard 250-hour oil drain and an optional 500-hour oil drain. To provide the most conservative approach, the 250-hour tables are loaded into SOS Services Manager. The 500-hour engine wear tables are available in this document. A few of the newest machines have the standard engine oil drain at 500 hours. For these machines, the 500-hour wear table is loaded into SOS Services Manager. Basic Information: This electronic document is primarily designed to replace the paper wear table booklets that were published between 1998 and 1999.   • SOSSM Services Wear Table Format

    Basic Information: The format and nomenclature has changed on the latest wear tables. These changes were made to improve the interpretation process and to optimize the use of these tables in the new SOS Services Manager laboratory information management system (LIMS). SOS Services Manager evaluates a sample test based on three levels of severity. The new wear table format is designed to complement this interpretation strategy with three levels of severity for each wear element. New Format: In the new format, there are only three columns of information for each element; the previous format had four columns of information. The description of each column has also changed. The example below shows the previous format with four columns and the statistical probability associated with each column. Probability 85% 95% 97.5% Over 97.5%Element Pop. In simple terms, the reportable column has been eliminated and all of the columns have been renamed. Probability 85% 97.5% Over 97.5%Element No Action Required Monitor Action RequiredIron 21 - 57 58 - 68 Over 68 SOS Services Manager will inform the analyst with a yellow flag when any element is within the values listed in the Monitor column. If any element exceeds the Action Required value, the analyst will be informed with a red flag. These tables and other test limits will be part of the rules based logic that is used to develop an Auto Interpreter System within SOS Services Manager. WTG Format: The Wear Table Generator (WTG) has given SOS Services the ability to produce wear tables in a semi-automatic process. The WTG uses the database from SOS Services Manager as the data source. The data is retrieved, cleansed, and statistically evaluated by the WTG as it produces a wear tables. The resulting wear tables are written back to SOS Services Manager. In the SOS Services Manager application, wear tables can be accessed through the equipment manager screen or on the interpretation manager screen. The WTG also produces a .pdf file of the wear table. The .pdf files contain the wear table and all of the filter criteria used to create the table. These WTG .pdf files are placed into the KN wear table repository on a regular basis. Examples of the three formats are on the following pages.
