The cost of your 2012 units is based on the field of education classification of each unit of study. Units are grouped

on the basis of their field of education into four bands. We set a student contribution rate for each of the four bands.

If you have been offered a Commonwealth supported place in a course of study you may be covered by different

Students who commenced their course of study prior to 2010 are considered 'Pre-2010 students' and continue to be

charged for Education and Nursing units as Band 4: National Priority (as above).

You are a pre-2010 student if you:

• started your course of study prior to 31 December 2009

• have not completed your course at 31 December 2009

• are not a pre-2008 CSP student

• are not a pre-2009 CSP student

• you are undertaking a unit in education or nursing.

Eligible students will be charged the lower (pre-2010) maximum student contribution amount when undertaking

units from these funding clusters.You will still be considered a pre-2010 student if, from 2010 you meet the

requirements and you:

• transfer between higher education providers

Mathematics, Statistics and Science units are charged as Band 4: National Priority from 1 January 2009.

Am I a pre-2009 student?

Students who commenced their course of study in 2008 are considered 'Pre-2009 students' and continue to be

charged for Mathematics, Statistics and Science units as Band 2 (as above).

You are a pre-2009 student if you:

• started your course of study prior to 31 December 2008

• are not a pre-2008 CSP student

• are not transferring in 2009 to a natural and physical science course of study

• are studying a unit in mathematics, statistics or science funding cluster. Eligible students will be charged at the

higher (pre-2009) maximum student contribution amount when undertaking units in this funding cluster.

You will still be considered a pre-2009 student if, from 2009, you meet the requirements, and you:

• transfer from one course of study to another, except if you are transferring from a non-Natural and Physical

Science course to a Natural and Physical Science course

• transfer between higher education providers

• are pre-2009 eligible in a Commonwealth Supported place and discontinue course and recommence same

course or a new course

• undertake a course after completing an enabling course for which you were eligible as pre-2009 CSP student

• complete a course for which you were eligible as a pre-2009 CSP student and undertake the honours course.

*If you commence a course of study that is not a Natural and Physical Science course before 2009 and transfer to a

Natural and Physical Science course you will be charged for units undertaken in mathematics, statistics and science

as Band 4: National Priority.

Accounting, administration, economics and commerce units are charged as Band 3 from 1 January 2008.

Am I a pre-2008 student?

Students who commenced their course of study prior to 2008 are considered 'Pre-2008 students' and continue to be

charged for accounting, administration, economics and commerce units as Band 2 (as above). The arrangements

for pre-2008 students apply until the end of 2012.

You are a Pre-2008 student if you:

• started or continued your course of study in a Commonwealth supported place between 1 January 2005 and 31

December 2007; and

• have not completed your course at 31 December 2007; and

• are studying a unit in the accounting, administration, economics or commerce funding cluster. Eligible students

will be charged the lower (pre-2008) maximum student contribution amount when undertaking units in this

funding cluster.

You will still be considered a pre-2008 student if, from 2008, you meet the requirements, and you:

• transfer from one course of study to another (including where one course of study is postgraduate and the other

is undergraduate)

• transfer between Higher Education providers

• discontinue or complete your studies from 2008, and subsequently enrol in a Commonwealth supported place in

2009 (or any year up to 2012)

• undertake a course after completing an enabling course for which you were eligible as a pre-2008 CSP student

• complete a course for which you were eligible as a pre-2008 CSP student and then undertake an honours

course.

Table B: Domestic Tuition Fee

View the cost of individual units to determine the 2012 course fee. Domestic tuition fees are determined at the unit

level taking into account the principal subject matter of the unit and the level of study. The aggregation of the cost of

units undertaken in 2012 will determine the 2012 fee for the course. The table below outlines the framework for

domestic tuition fees.

Note: Special rates apply to certain units offered to study abroad students, in offshore courses, QUT International

College courses, or courses customised for corporate delivery. If you can't find your unit in this list, email Student

Fees for more information.

Table C: International Student Tuition Fee

International student tuition fees are determined at the unit level taking into account the principal subject matter of

the unit and level of study. The aggregation of the cost of units undertaken in 2012 will determine the 2012 fee for

the course.

Some courses have special rates approved (eg those undertaken at the QUT International College). Any other

course is charged at the individual unit level.

Note: Special rates apply to certain units offered to study abroad students, in offshore courses, QUT International

College courses, or courses customised for corporate delivery. If you can't find your unit in this list, email Student

Fees for more information.

Course information includes an indicative cost per semester. This is calculated as an average over the whole

course using the most common units in which students enrol. The application for admission fee for award courses is

$55.00 (incl. GST).

International students should also read the International Student Fee and Refund Policy.

Table E: Summer Program Tuition Fee and Commonwealth supported courses with Summer as Normal Progression

In accordance with Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) policy from 1

January 2005, a student who is advised that they are to be Commonwealth supported for a unit during QUT's

In accordance with Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) policy from 1

January 2005, a student who is advised that they are to be Commonwealth supported for a unit during QUT's

Summer Program will pay the student contribution amount for the year in which the unit census date falls. The rates

for 2011/2012 Summer Program are:

Table L: Student Services and Amenities Fee

Fee rates From 2012 we will be charging the fee to:

domestic undergraduate coursework students domestic postgraduate coursework students

International, higher degree research, corporate award, and non-award students are exempt from the fee in 2012 and 2013. External units will also be excluded in 2012 and 2013. The fee will be charged from 1 July 2012 per enrolled credit point. Invoice due dates will align with your tuition fee due dates. For 2012 the charge is $2.73 per credit point. This table shows example charges per unit:

The maximum charge for the half-year period 1 July 2012 to 31 December 2012 is $131. The fee will be indexed annually.

Payment of the fee Eligible students will be able to defer the fee through a loan scheme called SA-HELP. More information about SA-HELP
