Using 3M 1830 Overhead Projector
Before You Begin
The 3M 1830 overhead projector is an easy to use, sturdy device.
Getting started
1. Plug in power cord. (Assure loose cord is not creating a tripping hazard.)2. Press the power button.3. Place material on the Fresnel lens.4. Focus image by using the focusing knob and adjusting the projection lens.

1. Unplug the device. 2. Allow the device to completely cool.3. Press the release latch to open the base.
4. Pull the release lever.5. Gently lift bulb from projector.6. Gently replace bulb.
a. Assure bulb is well set into the socket.
b. Move lever forward to secure.7. Close base. 8. Plug in power cord.9. Turn on device.

NEC MT1060 Projector - Replace the Lamp
Before You Begin
Turn the projector off and unplug the power supply.
Wait at least one hour after using the projector before you replace the lamp.
Supplies needed:Flat head screwdriverReplacement lamp (Part #MT60LP) OR Optional extended life lamp (Part #MT60LPS)
Step 1 – Remove Lamp Cover
There are two grooves located on the side of the lamp cover.
Push in the two grooves with a flat head screwdriver.
Gently lift off the cover.

Step 2 – Loosen Screws
Loosen the two screws on the lamp unit. Do not remove any other screws.
STEP 3 – Remove Lamp Unit
There is a silver handle on the lamp unit.
Pull the handle up to remove the old lamp unit.

STEP 4 – Insert New Lamp Unit
Insert the new lamp unit.
Be sure it is pushed all the way in.
STEP 5 – Secure with Screws
Secure the new lamp unit with the two screws. Tighten the screws.
STEP 6 – Replace Lamp Cover
Slide the lamp cover back on.
Be sure the cover snaps closed

SPEAKERS
1. Remove the lens cover of the projector.2. Connect the power cord to the projector. 3. Connect the media device.4. Turn on the media devices.5. Verify the Power LED is flashing, press the power button.6. If a PC is being used, assure the PC is setup for output to the projector.7. If more than one device is being used, press the “Source” to toggle between the devices.8. To focus the image, adjust the zoom/focus dial found on top of the projector.9. To adjust the height of the image, press the elevator button found in front of the device.
Powering off the Projector
1. Press “Power” to turn off the projector.2. A message will appear. Press “Power” a second time.3. The cooling fans will continue to run for a short period of time.
** WARNING ** Do not turn on the projector immediately following a power off procedure.

Using ACTIVotes with ActivInspire Quick Start Guide
Before You Begin
Make sure the Voting Browser icon is in your toolbox.
View Customize
In the All Commands box, choose the Voting Browser.
Click the Add>> button to move the command to the Main Toolbox.

Create User Databases
The following instructions will help you set up your database of students and save the database.
1. Add ClassEdit Student DatabaseAdd Class. Fill in the pop-up box and click Submit.
2. Add StudentsClick on the Add Student button. Fill in the pop-up box and click Submit. Continue using the Add Student button to enter remaining students.
3. Assign Students to ClassHighlight student namesClick the Left Arrow button (<<) Click the name of the class you want the students moved into.Student Names will now appear in the box below the Class box.
4. Save Database To save the database – click on the Export button.Save database to your H: drive. Please note that the file extension is .edb

Set Default Preferences
You can set default preferences for your ACTIVote sessions.
Dashboard Configure Manage Profiles Settings
Change settings as desired
Click Done.

Register Devices
Use the Voting Browser icon from your toolbox to open the Voting Browser box.
Click on the Device Registration icon
The Device Registration Box will appear.
Click on the ACTIVote picture.
Choose the number of ACTIVotes you want to register.
For each ACTIVote device you will need to press and hold the central Registration button on the device.
The Red Up Arrow button on the device will flash red for a few seconds. The Green Down Arrow button will flash green when the device is done registering.
After you have registered the devices, the Device Registration Box will indicate how many devices were successfully registered.
Click Done to close the Device Registration Box.

Assign Users to Devices
Use the Voting Browser icon from your toolbox to open the Voting Browser box.
VERY IMPORTANT: You must click on the Vote with Activote icon
The Device numbers will appear in the Voting Browser box.
Click on the Assign Users icon to open the Assign Students to Devices box.
Click the Edit Database button to retrieve a database of students (.edb file)
Click the Import button to locate an existing database.
Or click New Database button to create a new database.
Click OK when finished to return to the Assign Students to Devices box.

Make sure the Automatically Assign Devices bubble is chosen.
Click the Assign Devices Button.
The Assign Students to Devices box will now display which device was assigned to which student.
Keep a record of the assignments.
Click Finish

Using the Voting Browser Options
Display Assigned Devices
Currently all the voting devices are showing in the Voting Browser box.
To view only devices assigned to students:
Click on the Word SettingsPut a check in the Show Assigned Devices Only box.The screen will now show only those devices that were assigned to a student.
Anonymous Voting
Currently the names of the students appear in the Voting Browser box.
To show only the Device numbers:
Click the Toggle Anonymous Voting icon.
The Device numbers will now show.

Express Vote
Click on the Express Poll icon located in the toolbox.
The Wonder Wheel will appear on your whiteboard space.
Move your mouse over the Wonder Wheel to expand the wheel.
Move the mouse over the button icon to open the Action Options.
Click the Target Activotes icon to let the program know you are using Activotes.
Move your mouse over the Wonder Wheel to select type of question.
You can ask multiple-choice, true/false, and yes/no questions.
Click on the type of question you wish to ask.
A Timer Box will appear.
Use this box to select how long the students have to answer.
Use the stop, start, and pause buttons that appear in the box to control the time.
Instruct the students to use their voting devices to make their selection.
As students make their selections, their name box will turn yellow to indicate that they have answered.

If everyone does not vote you will see a box asking if you wish to give those students more time to vote.
After voting is finished, a Vote Results box will appear. Use the drop-down menu to choose which report to view.

Using a Laptop with thePromethean 78” ACTIVboard
Before You Begin
Make sure that you are using a 78” ActivBoard.
In the upper left hand corner of the board you will see a round flame emblem.
Assumptions:These instructions assume that the whiteboard, projector, and sound system are installed. Check to make sure that these components are plugged into an electrical outlet.
These instructions assume that the ActivInspire software has been installed on the laptop. Only the Technical Support department can assist with software installs.
Important Note: The laptop MUST be turned OFF before connecting the laptop to the projector, ActivBoard, and sound system.

Connect Laptop to Projector
Laptop must be turned OFF before connecting cables.
Locate Serial Cable
There is a serial cable connected to the ceiling mounted projector. The other end of the serial cable will be hanging on the wall.
There may be a connector attached to the serial cable. This connector helps to save wear and tear on the serial cable.
Connect Serial Cable to Laptop
Connect the serial cable (or the connector) to a serial port on the laptop.

Connect Laptop to ActivBoard
Laptop must be turned OFF before connecting cables.
Locate USB Cable
There is a USB cable connected to the back of the Activboard. The other end of the USB cable will be hanging on the wall. The end of the USB cable is blue.
Connect Serial Cable to Laptop
Connect the USB cable to a USB port on the laptop.

Connect Laptop to Sound System
Laptop must be turned OFF before connecting cables.
Locate the Sound System Box
The speakers are connected to the box. You will connect your laptop to the box so that your laptop can be heard through the speakers.
Connect laptop to Sound System Box
Locate the audio cable connected to the back of the Sound System Box. It is connected to “Input”.
Locate the other end of the audio cable.Plug this end into the headphone jack on the laptop.

Turn on Components
Turn on the projector first. Next turn on your laptop.
Calibrate the Screen
Click the ActivManager icon on the taskbar.
Choose Control Panel
Select the Connections tab.Click on the Connect button.
Click on the ActivManager icon on the taskbar again.
Choose Calibrate

Follow the directions on the Activboard.
Use the stylus to touch anywhere on the ActivBoard
Use the stylus to touch each of the five crosses displayed on the ActivBoard.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You will need to calibrate the screen every time you connect the laptop. If you disconnect the laptop – you will need to run the calibration process the next time you connect the laptop.

Using the Stylus to Write on the ActivBoard
Open ActivInspire software. The Dashboard will appear. If it does not appear use the F11 key to open the Dashboard.
Select the Annotate over the Desktop feature. Use the stylus to double touch the icon or the words on the ActivBoard.
Select the Pen tool from the toolbox by using the stylus to touch the pen picture.

Select a color for the pen by using the stylus to touch one of the colored boxes.
Use the stylus to write on the ActivBoard.
