IBM InfoSphere Information Server V8.5

InfoSphere Information Server is a market-leading data integration platform thathelps you understand, cleanse, transform, and deliver more trustworthy informationto your critical business initiatives. The platform provides data governance, quality,transformation, and delivery capabilities that help ensure information is consistentlydefined, accurately represented, reliably transformed, and regularly updated onan ongoing basis. InfoSphere Information Server enables collaboration betweenbusiness and IT professionals to help ensure that your strategic initiatives suchas business analytics, master data management, application consolidation andmigration projects, as well as data warehousing strategies utilize information that isaccurate, comprehensive, insightful, and available in real time.

InfoSphere Foundation Tools is the functionality of InfoSphere Information Server,designed to be used in conjunction with other products to help customers establisha governance strategy to fully understand their information. InfoSphere FoundationTools is the component of InfoSphere Information Server designed to helpcustomers establish a governance strategy to fully understand their information.InfoSphere Foundation Tools can be effectively deployed in environments withother data integration infrastructures as well as those with InfoSphere InformationServer's InfoSphere DataStage.

New features being offered in InfoSphere Information Server 8.5 include BlueprintDirector, a new capability to further strengthen the alignment of business andIT, allowing you to govern your information projects. The integration team cancollaborate on actionable information blueprints that connect the business visionwith the corresponding technical metadata. Blueprint Director directs the team toapply best practices based on reference architectures and methodology.

IBM InfoSphere DataStage V8.5

IBM InfoSphere DataStage enables organizations to design data integrationdata flows that extract, transform, and load (ETL) information from multiple,heterogeneous source systems, transform it in ways that can help make it morevaluable, then deliver it to one or more target databases or applications in a batch,real-time, or event-based (messaging) manner, regardless of data complexity orvolume.

New features include:


• Improved clustering capabilities that provide increased scalability and availability,allowing customers to now deploy additional topologies to address their businessrequirements for performance and improve resilience to failures.

• Integration with Enterprise Source Code Control Systems (SCCS), deliveringcustomers seamless code management capabilities for InfoSphere DataStageartifacts during the development life cycle.

• An improved user experience with InfoSphere DataStage Balanced Optimization,delivering seamless integration with InfoSphere DataStage and improvedmetadata lineage.

• Transformer enhancements, delivering powerful new capabilities thatenable a user to loop and cache records, supporting new levels of complextransformations in a highly productive manner.

• Extending InfoSphere DataStage's strong pivoting capabilities to enable verticalpivots with a new highly reusable processing component.

• Improved connectivity, delivering common connectors for InfoSphere DataStageServer jobs that provide improved and consolidated support for betterperformance and functionality.

• A new z/OS® File Stage leveraging IBM InfoSphere Classic Data Connector for z/OS with its Access Sequential or Access VSAM feature, enabling users to developprocessing logic that reads and writes z/OS files natively while streaming dataand processing workload to the DataStage platform to help optimize mainframecosts.

IBM InfoSphere QualityStageTM V8.5

IBM InfoSphere QualityStage helps enterprises create and maintain a dynamic viewof master data entities, including customers, vendors, locations, and products.Core capabilities include data investigation, standardization, address validation,probabilistic matching, and survivorship. InfoSphere QualityStage can be deployedin transactional, operational, or analytic applications in batch and real-timeenvironments.

• Visibility into the impact of standardization rules will be enhanced by the newStandardization Quality Assessment (SQA) stage, which will provide summaryreporting to understand how well standardization is performing.

• The standardization process will be made easier through simplified handlingof mixed alpha and numeric tokens, expanded script support, and enhancedperformance.

• A new Match Specification Report will be provided that presents the contents of amatch specification that was made within the Match Designer in an easy-to-readformat. Contents include passes, blocking columns, and other information relatedto defining and testing match criteria. This will help users more easily monitortheir match designs.

• The Match Designer is now easier to use for both new and experienced users.For example, all match types are now available in a single menu in the MatchDesigner. Other improvements such as the organization of the output and theplacement of various controls have been made to help users navigate the MatchDesigner more quickly.

• More user flexibility in creating match logic has been provided through severalmatch improvements such as the capability to override match cutoffs withinmatch reference and unduplicated stages. These changes give the user moreoptions to achieve good results more quickly.

• Expanded Rule Coverage: Rulesets for Korea, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Chile,Mexico, and the Netherlands have been added.

• Support to make customer rules development easier has been added with thenew Rules Development Toolkit.

IBM InfoSphere Change Data Delivery for Information Server

IBM InfoSphere Change Data Delivery for Information Server delivers real-timedata integration across new and existing investments in IBM InfoSphere DataStage,InfoSphere QualityStage, InfoSphere Warehouse, and InfoSphere Master DataManagement Server on the IBM System i® platform.


IBM InfoSphere Change Data Delivery for Information Server helps provide rapidand timely delivery of data changes for InfoSphere data warehouses, InfoSphereDataStage ETL processes, InfoSphere QualityStage data quality processes, andInfoSphere master data management systems to help ensure that these systemshave updated and more trustworthy data to enable good business decisions.

IBM InfoSphere Business Glossary is an interactive, web-based tool that helps userscreate, manage, and share an enterprise vocabulary and classification system.The alignment of business terms with technical information assets facilitatesbusiness and IT communities to collaborate and govern their data more effectively.Also, the data stewardship capabilities of this tool can promote responsibility andaccountability in support of data governance policies.


• Enhanced display of data analysis summaries from InfoSphere InformationAnalyzer and InfoSphere Discovery. This enables users to understand key dataquality metrics for the information that is associated with a business term.

• Ability to view valid value types and references for associated data sources.

• Improved consumability of glossary content for business users via a new userrole: Business Glossary Basic User. Users with this role view only Terms and


Category information. No technical metadata information, such as AssignedAssets and Data Source Tree, is displayed.

• Accelerated population of glossary content via a mechanism that transformscontent from imported business intelligence reports into Business GlossaryCategories and Terms.

• Ability for data modelers to leverage up-to-date Business Glossary content intheir modeling environment via enhanced integration with InfoSphere DataArchitect, including the ability to interchange assigned relationships between themodeling client and the metadata repository.

IBM InfoSphere FastTrack V8.5

IBM InfoSphere FastTrack streamlines collaboration between business analysts,data modelers, and developers by capturing and defining business requirements ina common, familiar format and then transforming that business logic directly intoDataStage ETL jobs.


• Shared data rules within mapping specifications to accelerate communication ofand consistently apply information across projects.

• An audit history for specification updates, tracking various InfoSphere FastTrackevents (such as who made a change and what change was made). This capabilityis critical for governance programs that require an audit trail as part of historicaldocumentation.

• Capture of existing source-to-target relationships from DataStage jobs,which provides the ability to leverage existing job information to jump-start specification work. By utilizing knowledge already gained, this featureestablishes a view into the lineage between those data sources and enablesbetter consistency in collaborative work.

• Support for interchange of mapping specifications across Information Serverenvironments allows users to move information to the environment where it isneeded.

IBM InfoSphere Information Analyzer V8.5

IBM InfoSphere Information Analyzer can help you quickly and easily understandyour data by offering data quality assessment, flexible data rules design andanalysis, and quality monitoring capabilities. These insights can help you derivemore information from enterprise data to accelerate information-centric projects.


• Expanded collaboration between business and IT. Users now have an improvedability to link data sources directly to business terms in InfoSphere InformationAnalyzer and deliver broader understanding of data to business users throughcontext-sensitive menu options, enhanced term browsers, and presentation ofterms with standard data classifications.

• Sharing of InfoSphere Information Analyzer's source analysis results through theInfoSphere Business Glossary. In addition to the existing summary results, userscan now gain better understanding and insight into the valid values of sourcecolumns that are represented by business terms.

• Export of InfoSphere Information Analyzer project information to otherInfoSphere Information Server environments to optimize distribution of dataanalysis insights.

• Invocation and update of InfoSphere Information Analyzer's data qualityassessment and monitoring tasks via REST APIs.

• Publication of InfoSphere Information Analyzer's data quality assessment andmonitoring results to a standard file format for downstream utilization viacommand line (CLI) or REST APIs.

• Native Oracle connectivity support.

• Methodology and best practice guide for designing data quality rules.


• Provision of Information Analyzer Exception Manager, a bundled offering availableon Windows® platforms, leveraging the functionality from the former ExerosValidator product. It integrates directly with InfoSphere Discovery so thatdiscovered transformation rules across sources can be validated, reconciled,and monitored on an ongoing basis. It also incorporates a browser-based userinterface for the data steward to review and report exception conditions.

• Information Analyzer Exception Manager can analyze data in only the Latin 1character sets, including the following languages: English, German, Spanish,French, and Italian. While the software is available for sale in some countries thatoperate with double-byte character sets, the software does not currently work indouble-byte languages. The software can still be purchased in these countries,but must only be used to analyze data in the languages noted above.

• Availability of Information Analyzer Exception Manager on Linux® for System z®for both production and nonproduction environments.

IBM InfoSphere Metadata Workbench V8.5

IBM InfoSphere Metadata Workbench allows visual web-based exploration ofinformation assets generated and used by IBM InfoSphere Information Serverand other third-party applications. This visualization is designed to increase thelevel of trust in the most important information. In addition, the robust queryingcapabilities of the InfoSphere Metadata Workbench provide the IT community withcomprehensive and flexible data lineage reports that enable deep understandingof the data being used in their environments and a method to monitor their dataintegration activities over time. The powerful impact analysis tool can help dataanalysts and developers make better decisions when faced with changes in dataintegration projects.

• If you are installing the services and engine on separate machines, each machinemust have the same operating system.

• InfoSphere Metadata Server consists of the repository tier and services tier.

Recommended hardware

• Processor: 2.5 GHz (minimum required); faster processors are recommended.

• Memory: 6 GB of RAM (minimum required); 8+ GB of RAM recommended.

When you install IBM InfoSphere Information Server, 50 MB of temporary files areadded and removed after the installation process is complete.

The IBM InfoSphere Information Server architecture consists of multiple tiers.Depending on the product required by the user, different tiers will be installed. Thesetiers include:

• Metadata repository tier: The metadata repository and, if installed, the IBMInfoSphere Information Analyzer analysis database and the computer wherethese components are installed. The metadata repository database contains theshared metadata, data, and configuration information for InfoSphere InformationServer product modules. The analysis database stores extended analysis data forInfoSphere Information Analyzer.

• Services tier: The application server, common services, and product servicesfor the suite and product modules and the computer where those componentsare installed. The services tier provides both common services (such as metadataand logging) and services that are specific to certain product modules. Within the




tier, IBM WebSphere Application Server hosts the services. The services tier alsohosts InfoSphere Information Server applications that are web-based.

• Engine tier: The logical group of engine components (the InfoSphereInformation Server engine components, service agents, and so on) and thecomputer where those components are installed. The engine runs jobs and othertasks for product modules that require the engine.

• Client tier: The client programs and consoles that are used for development andadministration and the computers where they are installed.

Repository tier:

• DB2 ESE 9.5 (Fixpack 2) and IBM DB2 ESE 9.7

• Oracle 10gR2 and 11gR2 (data direct JDBC drivers 3.6)

• SQL Server 2005 SP2 and SQL Server 2008 (Windows only; data direct JDBCdrivers 3.6)

Notes:

• DB2 Restricted Enterprise Edition 9 is included with IBM InfoSphere InformationServer and is an optional part of the installation that requires an additional390 MB of disk space. If DB2 Restricted Enterprise Edition 9 is optionallyinstalled, it is only licensed for use with IBM InfoSphere Information Server.Information Server V8.5 offers significantly increased data protection, scalability,and performance for its database operations based on IBM DB2 technology,which is designed to manage data more effectively and efficiently. Greateravailability is delivered through enhancements such as online, automateddatabase reorganization. In addition, the increased scalability and the ability toleverage the latest in server technology helps deliver increased performance ofbackup and recovery processes.

• IBM InfoSphere Information Server does not support the Database PartitioningFeature of IBM DB2 ESE 9 for use in the Repository tier.

• The database needs to have 700 MB of initial free space. With added projects andcontinued usage, additional disk space will be required.

Services tier

IBM InfoSphere Information Server requires WebSphere Application Server 7.0.0.7and 6.1.0.27, or higher. WebSphere Application Server is included as a part ofIBM InfoSphere Information Server and is an optional part of the installation thatrequires an additional 1 GB of disk space. If WebSphere Application Server isoptionally installed, it is only licensed for use with IBM InfoSphere InformationServer.

Charge metrics definitions

Authorized User

Authorized User is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. AnAuthorized User is an individual (named or unnamed) within or outside of yourenterprise. The program may be installed on one or more computers or serversand accessed by the number of users authorized by the Proof of Entitlement (PoE).You must have an entitlement for each Authorized User accessing the program orany program component in any manner directly or indirectly (for example, via amultiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means.

Concurrent User

Concurrent User is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. AConcurrent User is a shared user access to the program within or outside of yourenterprise. The program may be installed only on one computer or one server. Thetotal number of Concurrent Users simultaneously accessing the program at anymoment in time may not exceed the highest number of Concurrent Users authorizedby the Proof of Entitlement (PoE). You must have an entitlement for each ConcurrentUser simultaneously accessing the program or any program component in anymanner directly or indirectly (for example, via a multiplexing program, device, orapplication server) through any means.

Install

Install is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. An Install is aninstalled copy of the program on a physical or virtual disk made available to be


executed on a computer. Licensee must obtain an entitlement for each Install of theprogram.

Processor Value Unit

Processor Value Unit (PVU) is a unit of measure by which the program can belicensed. The number of PVU entitlements required is based on the processortechnology (defined within the PVU Table by Processor Value, Brand, Type, andModel Number at the following website and the number of processors madeavailable to the program.

IBM continues to define a processor, for the purpose of PVU-based licensing, to beeach processor core on a chip. A dual-core processor chip, for example, has twoprocessor cores.

Licensee can deploy the program using either Full Capacity licensing or VirtualizationCapacity (Sub-Capacity) licensing according to the Passport Advantage Sub-CapacityLicensing Terms (see web page below). If using Full Capacity licensing, Licenseemust obtain PVU entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores1 inthe physical hardware environment made available to or managed by the program,except for those servers from which the program has been permanently removed. Ifusing Virtualization Capacity licensing, Licensee must obtain entitlements sufficientto cover all activated processor cores made available to or managed by the program,as defined according to the Virtualization Capacity License Counting Rules at

An Activated processor core is a processor core that is available for use in a physical orvirtual server, regardless of whether the capacity of the processor core can be or is limitedthrough virtualization technologies, operating system commands, BIOS settings, or similarrestrictions.

Resource Value Unit (RVU)

RVU is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. RVU entitlements arebased on the quantity of a specific designated measurement for the given program.A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for the appropriate number of RVUsrequired for your environment as defined by the specific program terms. The RVUentitlements are specific to the program and may include, but are not limited tothe following: client devices, data source records, messages, and servers, and maynot be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with RVU entitlements of anotherprogram. Program technical support

Technical support of a program product version or release will be available for aminimum of five years from the general availability date, as long as your SoftwareMaintenance is in effect. This technical support allows you to obtain assistance(via telephone or electronic means) from IBM for product-specific, task-orientedquestions regarding the installation and operation of the program product. SoftwareMaintenance also provides you with access to updates (modifications or fixes),releases, and versions of the program. You will be notified, via announcementletter, of discontinuance of support with 12 months' notice. If you require additionaltechnical support from IBM, including an extension of support beyond thediscontinuance date, contact your IBM representative or IBM Business Partner. Thisextension may be available for a fee.

For clarification, note that if for any reason you are dissatisfied with the programand you are the original licensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paidfor it, if within 30 days of your invoice date you return the program and its PoE tothe party from whom you obtained it. the Software Subscription and Support offering as described in the Agreements.Product upgrades provide the latest versions and releases to entitled software andTechnical Support provides voice and electronic access to IBM support organizations,worldwide.

IBM includes one year of Software Subscription and Support with each programlicense acquired. The initial period of Software Subscription and Support can beextended by the purchase of a renewal option, if available.

While your Software Subscription and Support is in effect, IBM provides youassistance for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to) questions,and code-related questions.
