Through partnership with consulting firms, software manufacturers, and technology vendors, MapR and our partners leverage our collective strengths to offer integrated solutions, enabling organizations to create disruptive advantage and long-term value from their data and improve profitability. This helps customers achieve significant return on investment.

The MapR Global Partner Program offers a variety of partnership opportunities, including consulting, software, platform, and distribution programs.

The MapR Global Partner Program is a comprehensive program, designed to meet the critical needs and interests of companies that seek to become consulting, software, platform, OEM, or distribution partners for MapR. The program helps to strengthen MapR partnerships through the collaborative development of business objectives, value proposition, and technical value-add. It employs a proactive approach to business planning and revenue achievement. The program encompasses structured channel initiatives, such as MapR Partner “go-to-market” initiatives and development support.

MapR has developed a strong, high-quality ecosystem of 800+ partners, all over the globe, to ensure the success of MapR customers worldwide.

MapR Value PropositionThe MapR Global Partner Program offers partners the best opportunity to capture the growing demand from converged data network market growth and to maximize customers’ satisfaction with offerings and solutions tailored for them through development with MapR.

Program Structure MapR business partners are organized around four main categories with three achievement levels.

The partner categories are:• Consulting Partners• Platform Partners• Software Partners• Resellers and Distributors

The partner achievement levels are:• Affiliates• Preferred• Elite

Consulting PartnersThe MapR Consulting Partner Program category includes consultants and systems integrators (SIs). These partners provide consulting services and related implementa-tion, integration, and training services to joint customers. Consultants may resell MapR licenses, but services are the primary revenue driver.

Software PartnersISV PartnersThe MapR Software Partner Program is designed to address the needs of software and technology companies who wish to partner with MapR to bring to market complementary solutions that are integrated with MapR solutions. This program provides partners with MapR software, support, training, and other partner resources to effectively develop and sell their integrated solutions.

OEM PartnersThe MapR Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Program is designed for software companies and SaaS/ASP providers who wish to enhance or extend their solutions by leveraging MapR technology in their products and services. OEM partners have the option of bundling or embedding MapR software in their solutions and can benefit from our vast array of go-to-market support and services.

Platform and Cloud PartnersThe MapR Data Platform and Cloud Partner Program includes companies that are market leaders in providing products and technologies upon which applications run. These strategic partners optimize MapR solutions to maximize customers’ ROI.

Resellers and DistributorsReseller PartnersThe MapR Consulting Reseller Partner Program is designed for our partners who want to resell all or part of the MapR product line as a component of their domain-, vertical-, or application-specific solutions and professional services. All MapR Partners are eligible to add the option to resell MapR products.

Distributor PartnersFor Asia, Europe, and Latin America regions, MapR offers a Distributor Partner Program that allows distributors to market, distribute, sublicense, and support some or all MapR products. MapR distributors execute a MapR Distributor Agreement and are subject to its terms and conditions. MapR distributors focus on reselling MapR products and are generally prohibited from marketing and reselling products that compete with MapR products.

Distributors help MapR to expand its market reach in remote geographies, where the potential for MapR growth is significant.

Application Process

Program Achievement Levels

Companies considering a partnership with MapR Solutions should review the MapR Global Partner Program Guide and complete the application process at http://www.MapR.com/partners/become-partner/apply-now/. The MapR Partner Program team will review a prospective partner’s application and respond via email within 5-7 business days as to whether the partner has been accepted into the MapR Global Partner Program or additional information is required. Following full execution of the applicable contracts and payment of the program fees, the partner will be eligible to receive the corresponding benefits for its partner category and partner achievement level.

MapR Solutions sends partnership renewal letters 30 days before expiration of a partnership. The letter provides instructions for partners to renew to avoid interruption of partner benefits.

MapR provides achievement levels within each of the three partner categories. The MapR Global Partner Program uses a three-tier system, providing partners with opportunities to achieve higher levels of partnership by meeting specified program requirements in a specific time frame. The required time varies within each partner category. Benefits vary, depending on the partner achievement level. The partnership investments are aligned to programs and market opportunities:

Affiliate: The Affiliate level enables new partners to begin their partnership with MapR and enables existing partners to further develop their MapR business and demonstrate industry expertise. Partners at this level are required to meet minimum program guidelines to establish a relationship with MapR.

Preferred: Preferred level partners provide industry-leading solutions to customers and are committed to doing significant business with MapR. Partners at this level are established partners with regional practices and have mature industry value-add and solution sets. Partner requirements are higher than the requirements at the Affiliate level.

Elite: The Elite level is the highest achievement level within the program. An Elite Partner demonstrates a proven track record and a very high degree of business synergy with MapR and has significant presence in multiple geographies. Elite Partners are global leaders in providing industry standards and have worldwide coverage. Partners at this level are assigned a named account manager with executive involvement and enjoy a substantial commitment from MapR. Partnership at this level is by invitation only.

Changes to the MapR Partner ProgramMapR reserves the right to change the requirements and benefits stated in this Global Partner Program Guide. We will make every effort to contact partner members before changes occur. We will also make changes and modifications available on the MapR Partner website. We strongly recommend that partners check the latest updates on a regular basis to ensure that they are up-to-date on the MapR Global Partner Program.

Other Related Programs for PartnersMapR Certification ProgramsThere are two types of MapR Certification Programs. Partners may be Partner Certified and/or Customer Solution Certified, based on joint partnership business objectives.

• MapR Partner Certification Program: The MapR Partner Certification Program enables you to demonstrate and be endorsed for your technical expertise in planning, deploying, and supporting key MapR solutions. It enhances your credibility and distinguishes you from the competition. Companies employing MapR-certified individuals also enjoy increased partner benefits, such as go-to-market differentiation and customer recommendations by our direct sales force. Certification is offered in multiple tiers with increasing technical requirements. You can find detailed information, including Certification Study Guides in the MapR Hadoop Certification Program section of our website.

• MapR Customer Solution Certification Program: The MapR Customer Solution Certification Program is driven by joint customer and market requirements. Partners who are certified go through an in-depth product certification program that verifies integration and compatibility. They will receive MapR endorsements of specific partner solution components with the latest versions of the MapR Data Platform. This joint customer-driven program may include but is not limited to joint development, testing/QA, and deployment to verify that complete customer solutions are validated and endorsed by MapR. Partners who participate in this program also receive significant benefits, such as early access to new versions of the MapR Data Platform to integrate, test, and validate their solutions and ensure customer endorsement at product launch.

ConvergeNet Solutions ProgramThe ConvergeNet Solutions Program highlights partner-created business solutions based on MapR technology. These solutions combine MapR technology with partners’ domain expertise and/or methodology to solve specific business challenges.

To be included in the program, a solution must meet stringent criteria. They must include “assets,” such as tangible demonstrations, prototypes, or dedicated sales tools. Many also include implementation assets, such as accelerator kits or templates. These partner-validated solutions are in production and have existing customers.

Program benefits are structured to complement different partnership types and business models and to help partners successfully take products and services to market. Together, MapR and our partner community are dedicated to assisting customers in measuring data performance and driving business value.

Enablement ResourcesEnablement benefits provide communications and training resources to accelerate joint success.

Partner Welcome KitUpon completion and execution of the MapR Global Partner Program agreement, each partner receives a program welcome kit. The kit includes a link to an overview of program benefits, information on how to access the MapR Partner website, directions on subscribing to MapR Partner Communications, and other valuable information to help partners leverage their new relationship with MapR. Included is a plaque/certificate of official membership into the MapR Global Partner community.

MapR Partner PortalThe MapR Partner Portal contains resources to help partners succeed with MapR solutions.

Listing on MapR WebsiteAll current partners in good standing are listed under the appropriate partner program and tier in the Partner Directory section of the MapR corporate website.

Sales and Product TrainingMapR Global Training and Enablement offers a variety of instructor-led, on-site, and self-paced training to partners. The curriculum includes technical and sales-related courses, developed to help enhance knowledge, drive performance, and accelerate ROI with MapR technology and solutions.

• Sales Training: MapR has developed sales-related training for anyone responsible for selling or recommending MapR products to end customers. The training is delivered through the MapR Academy in a self-paced online format. Partners interested in a more thorough understanding of MapR products and solutions can request training access through the MapR Global Partner Program website.

• Technical Training: MapR Global Training and Enablement provides courses on installation and implementation. These courses teach effective implementation and integration of MapR solutions and are offered at MapR training centers. You can find information on course schedules and registration on the MapR Partner website.

Product Training DiscountMapR partners receive 20-35% discounts on instructor-led technical training courses, respective to their partnership achievement levels. Training courses are offered by MapR Global Training and Enablement.

Partner Training Credit ProgramIn an effort to improve partner readiness, MapR partners receive an annual training credit for enrolling in a MapR training course toward partner certification. The MapR Partner Training Credit Program is a matching fund whereby MapR will reimburse partners up to 50% of the cost of MapR training.

The product training course must be delivered by MapR and not through a third- party vendor.

The training credit is a rebate out of the MapR Global Partner Program annual fees. Only partners who are current with their fees are eligible for this benefit.

Reimbursement occurs only after the partner has registered for, paid for, and attended the desired course.

Partner Training RoadmapThe Partner Training Roadmap provides our partners with a “guided training path” for sales, technical, and implementation training. It includes recommended online and instructor-led sales and product training courses, workshops, field experience, and product study guides, necessary to help you achieve certification for each available product exam. Certification is also designed to help customers easily identify and recognize the expertise of individuals who have mastered the skills necessary for the effective design, implementation, and support of MapR Data Platform products.

Product UpdatesMapR publishes and distributes quarterly MapR product updates and posts the updates on the MapR Global Partner website. Partner-specific versions are created for relevant partners. The updates inform partners about recent product changes, positioning updates, and opportunities.

WebinarsOn a quarterly basis, MapR offers a series of webinars on topics that are particularly relevant to our partners. These webinars offer a quick, easy way to enhance partners’ knowledge of MapR products. Webinar topics typically encompass product overviews, sales training, and product positioning. Webinar series are announced in the MapR Global Partner Newsletter and in other email notices. Content from previously held seminars is available on the MapR website.

MapR Partner NewsletterThe MapR monthly global partner newsletter provides timely information on MapR product releases, partner webcasts, education opportunities, events, and MapR news.

MapR Partner ForumThe annual MapR Partner Forum provides partners with an opportunity to learn about MapR product direction, development plans, and marketing priority from the company’s key business and technology experts.

MapR Partner Advisory Council (PAC)MapR extends invitations to select partners to participate in the MapR Partner Advisory Council. The PAC is an opportunity for MapR partners to gain insight into the strategic direction of the MapR Data Platform. The PAC also provides a forum for MapR partners to assist in determining the future direction of MapR products and solutions.

Marketing BenefitsMarketing benefits offer scalable programs and resources to support go-to-market initiatives and increase market exposure.

Partner Email List ProgramThe MapR partner mail/email list program can help partners extend market reach with an extensive list of customer and prospect data to support email campaigns. This program is intended for lead-generation activities, such as webinar marketing, product marketing, and services marketing. The lists in the program can be used to tailor partner emails to fit specific parameters.

Partners are responsible for coordinating the total cost associated with the product, fulfillment, and email activities with the MapR-designated fulfillment house.

The guidelines for participating in the partner mailing list program are available on the MapR Partner website.

Cooperative (Co-Op) Marketing ProgramThe co-op marketing program offers partners in North America an opportunity to be reimbursed up to 50% of the cost of pre-approved customer lead generation campaigns that promote MapR products and services. Only activities that align with joint marketing and business objectives are eligible to qualify for co-op reimbursement. Co-op marketing funds are based on the revenue that partners bring to MapR. MapR reinvests a percentage of partner-based yearly reseller revenues to support the co-op marketing program, 1% for eligible Affiliate Partners and 2% for eligible Preferred and Elite Partners. All MapR co-op guidelines apply. For additional program details, review the co-op policy document on the MapR Partner website. Final discretion for distribution of funds is managed by the MapR Global Partner Program.

Market Development Funds (MDF)Market development funds are discretionary funds made available to a select group of partners to subsidize mutually beneficial market awareness and demand generation activities that cultivate the sourcing of new business. MDF is composed of committed MapR dollars to be spent on marketing campaigns. It is not a fee that the partner is obligated to pay MapR, nor does MapR require that the partner establish an escrow account for the MDF. Rather, the MDF requirement is a commitment, on behalf of the partner, to hold in reserve and invest over the course of a 12-month period.

Public Relations OpportunitiesMapR works with partners to maximize opportunities to promote customer wins and joint customer success stories. The guidelines are available on the MapR Partner website.

Account ManagementMapR assigns a named account manager, an account manager, or a contact, depending on the level of the partnership, to coordinate various partner business activities.

Partner Program Logo MapR partners can promote their partnership with MapR by displaying the MapR business partner logo on their websites, in advertisements, and in other marketing materials. The guidelines for the appropriate uses of the logos are available on the MapR Partner website.

Direct Marketing and Sales TemplatesPartners can promote new MapR solutions and updates to customers and prospects with MapR direct marketing templates. Partners can get access to these customiz-able and easy-to-use templates on the MapR Partner website.

Marketing Tools and Collateral• MapR Product Collateral: Partners can access MapR digital versions of collateral

to use for email, events, sales calls, and other sales and marketing activities through the MapR Partner website. Printed versions of these marketing materials can also be ordered here.

• Jointly Branded Collateral: MapR supports the development of joint collateral pieces with partners at the Preferred achievement level and above.

• Jointly Branded Customer Success Stories and Case Studies: MapR supports the development of joint success stories or case studies with partners in order to promote a joint value proposition or solution to prospective or existing customers. MapR determines eligibility for creating jointly branded success stories or case studies on a case-by-case basis.

Selling BenefitsSelling benefits are designed to help partners increase market share, source new opportunities, and close business.

Partner Toolkit OnlinePartner toolkits deliver easy access to a comprehensive collection of essential marketing collateral, sales tools, and technical resources to support successful customer engagements and go-to-market activities.

Market Assistance Fee ProgramThe MapR Market Assistance Fee (MAF) is an incentive program for MapR Partners. The MAF program is intended to recognize partners for net-new opportunities brought to MapR direct sales by partners (not previously recorded or registered), for partners’ demonstrative selling efforts in support of MapR, and for partners materially contributing to and assisting in a customer’s selection of MapR during the sales cycle. The MAF program is not intended as a mechanism to provide discount payments to resellers.

The MAF payments are up to 10% of the license software revenue on the contract. The actual percentage is determined as an agreement between the partner and MapR, and is based on, but not limited to, the level of partner involvement in closing the deal and the discount rate. The maximum amount of a MAF payment is $25,000 USD per opportunity. A partner can receive a maximum of $150,000 USD cumulative MAF into a single account per year.

Business PlanningBased on agreed upon joint go-to-market objectives and strategic initiatives, partners have the opportunity to work with assigned account managers to jointly develop quarterly business plans.

Partnering for Success CommunicationsMapR Partnering for Success communications are designed to promote partner wins to the MapR Global Sales organization. These communications reinforce a partner’s industry expertise and successful customer relationship. Partners can contact their MapR Partner Alliance Manager for additional information and qualification guidelines.

Partner Support and Sales ServicesPartner-readiness is paramount to success, and MapR is committed to providing tailored benefits to partners, including advice on the development of solutions, how to reduce time to market, and how to maximize customer satisfaction. The level of support is dependent on the partner agreement and business model, and we’ll work with you to develop a custom go-to-market path that works best for your particular solution.

By subscribing to the partner support program, you’ll work closely with us to get everything you need in order to sell, implement, and support the MapR Data Platform and extensible solutions successfully.

Support ProgramsSupport programs serve as the foundation for delivering and supporting the solutions that bring value to mutual customers.

MapR delivers 24x7, SLA-driven, follow-the-sun support for our partners with a dedicated team of global support engineers proficient in the Hadoop ecosystem, Apache Spark, Apache Drill, and the MapR Data Platform.

By subscribing to MapR Standard support and TAM support, our partners will be connected to a highly qualified team of professionals who are there to help you, every step of the way.

Taken together, the combination of our world-class support engineers, thorough product documentation, and lively MapR Community will enable swift progress of your projects and ensure the smooth operation of your customer applications.

MapR offers product support options that deliver value to our partners and to their customers. These options enhance the ability to provide technical support for products that are based on or integrate with the MapR Data Platform. For each partner, MapR jointly evaluates the best support option for customers, based on the partner classification and support strategy. This function supports product fulfillment, product-release notifications, patch notifications, and telephone support to sublicenses, depending upon the partner agreement.

Technical Support for Direct PartnersMaintenance-paying partners are entitled to the full benefits of MapR Worldwide Support, with three levels of support to choose from.

The Community Support program provides access to the following extensive online-based services, which are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:

• MapR documentation• MapR knowledge base of proven issue resolutions• MapR Community resource access• Whitepapers and data sheets• Product updates• Forum support

Partners can subscribe to formal support through MapR Premium and MapR Premium+ support. Premium Support includes technical support, online or by telephone, 24 hours a day, Monday through Friday. In addition to the above, Premium Support includes:

• Web and email support• Partner/customer support portal• Training• Urgent bug fixes• Follow-the-sun support• 24x7 phone support: priority 1 bugs only

For an additional fee, partners may customize their support programs to include options, such as critical period coverage, additional support contacts, and on-site support. To arrange for these additional options, please contact your MapR Representative.

MapR Download CenterThe MapR Download Center (MDC) is an online software delivery, update, and management service that provides easy access to the latest versions of MapR software and assistance in managing the update process. MDC sends email notifications when there are new releases, bug fixes, or patches for any MapR products. The MapR electronic software distribution engine then enables the downloading of software from a personal MDC website, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. MDC also provides access to all previous versions of software, along with effective tools for managing MapR products.

A current email address and company name are required for each sales order.

Distributors and Reseller Partners do not have access to the MDC, unless they have signed a contract with MapR, entitling them to the software they have purchased.

2nd Tier ResellerMapR offers the 2nd Tier Reseller Partner Program to the MapR distributor network of resellers. MapR distributors must have a MapR Distributor Agreement in place, which permits the distributor to market, distribute, and sublicense MapR products indirectly through 2nd tier resellers within specific territories. MapR distributors are solely responsible for ensuring that their 2nd tier resellers are in compliance with the 2nd Tier Reseller Program and with the terms of the respective Distributor Agreement.

Partners Providing First-Line SupportPartners who provide first-line support are responsible for maintaining a staff of competent personnel trained to provide first-line technical support to the partner’s customers and network of 2nd tier resellers in its relevant territory.

MapR requires that the partner provide a support telephone number for MapR to provide to partners’ end users and resellers, in the event that the end users and resellers call MapR for technical support.

Partner Development SoftwareDepending on the type of partnership and agreement, partners can receive MapR enterprise software licenses for development, testing, and demonstration purposes at a significant discount. The availability of software development licenses varies by product. MapR will provide to the partner the Partner Development Software specifically listed on the partner contract addendum. MapR will provide to the partner the Partner Development Software license to use the Partner Develop-ment Software on the partner’s own equipment, solely for the following purposes: (1) internal development and training of the partner’s employees solely for purposes of providing the Partner Solution; (2) marketing and demonstration of the software to prospects; and (3) for platform and software partner categories only: to develop, support, and maintain the integration of the software with the Partner Product (ISV, OEM, VAR) for purposes of providing the Partner Solution. Under no conditions may the partner use the Partner Development Software to run the internal operations of the partner or for the benefit of any third party, including the training of End Users, nor shall the Partner Development Software be provided to any third party. MapR will provide Partner Support services to the partner in connection with the partner’s use of the Partner Development Software during the periods for which program fees for the Partner Development Software have been prepaid.

Technical Support for Direct PartnersAs a partner, if you are working at a MapR client site and report support issues on behalf of the client, Global Support requires the client’s ID, so the issue will be tracked appropriately.
