INTRODUCTION

The Law Society of Saskatchewan web site, located at hup://www.lawsocicty.sk.ca.

offers case law databases for searching Saskatchewan Court of Appeal, Queen's Bench

and Provincial Court decisions.

The Case Digests database contains digests of Saskatchewan Court of Appeal, Queen's

Bench and Provincial Court judgments from 1987 to date. The judgments are keyword

searchable on a number of fields. There are hyper links to the full text of the judgments.

The digests include citations both to neutral citations and to print law reports. The

database is updated daily.

The Fulltext Judgments database contains Saskatchewan Court of Appeal, Queen's

Bench and Provincial Court decisions from 1994 to date. The decisions are keyword

searchable. The database is updated daily.

For the purposes of this seminar, we have been asked to nm a particular search in the case

law databases on the Law Society of Saskatchewan web site. The question to be searched

is as follows:

What is the effect, ill all impaired driving case, when a police officer fails to

provide an accllsed with his or her rights to cOIl1lsel, prior to arrest, when

conducting sobriety tests ineluding a breath sample 011 an approved screening

device (ALERT}?

The following pages illustrate the process of searching this question in the Case Digests
