honors for its work designing Clover Park Technical College's Health Sciences Building.

A jury of industry experts selected the Tacoma-based architecture rm as one of four grand prize award recipients during the Spring 2015 Learning By Design Architectural Showcase. The jury praised how the LEED-Gold Certi ed building weaves "function, sustainability, and interaction into the fabric of the campus."

Clover Park Technical College of cials dedicated the $24 million, 56,468-square-foot state-of-the-art facility on Sept. 20, 2013. The Health Sciences Build-ing serves approximately 1,100 students per year, and houses the college's 11 health sciences programs. The design includes laboratories, classrooms and spaces that simulate current health care facilities. Clover Park Technical College's Health Sciences Building, located at 4500 Steilacoom Boulevard, in Lakewood, includes a number of sustainable design features, in-cluding water-ef cient landscaping, a rooftop garden

with medicinal plants, staircases and structures built from recycled materials, and solar panels covering ap-proximately a third of the roof.

"We are pleased to hear that Clover Park Techni-cal College's new Health Sciences Building was rec-ognized as a Grand Prize recipient for its integrative programs, architectural setting and creatively provid-ing for the health care vocations in our community," said Marc Gleason, principal for design with McGra-nahan Architects.

"The Health Sciences Building provides an ad-vanced learning space for our programs to best train

and equip our students for the industry," said Clover Park Technical College President Dr. Lonnie L. How-ard.
