What is the TAE40110 course structure?

The TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment requires the completion of a minimum of 10 Units of Competency, consisting of 7 Core Units and a minimum of 3 Elective Units.

Historically, the 10 most popular Units have been:

TAEDES401A – Design and develop learning programs (CORE) TAEASS301B – Contribute to assessment (ELECTIVE) TAEDEL402A – Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace (CORE) TAEDEL301A – Provide work skill instruction (ELECTIVE) TAEDEL401A – Plan, organise and deliver group-based learning (CORE) BSBCMM401A – Make a presentation (ELECTIVE)

TAEDES402A – Use Training packages and Accredited course to meet client needs (CORE)

TAEASS401B – Plan assessment activities and processes (CORE) TAEASS402B – Assess competence (CORE)

TAEASS403B – Participate in assessment validation (CORE)

Since its release in 2014 another Unit has become very popular as it has been proposed that it will become an additional Core Unit in the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment when the qualification is next revised. This Unit is:

TAELLN411 – Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills (ELECTIVE)

It is the ERP participant’s choice whether or not they want to obtain TAELLN411 as an additional elective, thereby obtaining 11 units in total.

What are the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)?

What is TAE40110?

TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment specifies the current competency standards for trainers and assessors at the Certificate IV level. It superseded TAA40104 when it was released in 2010. TAE40110 can be awarded after the attainment of 7 core Units and a minimum of 3 elective Units.

What is the purpose of the Education Recognition Program (ERP)?

The Education Recognition Program exists solely for the benefit of Australian school teachers to provide them with the optimal opportunity to obtain issuance for the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110). It is a customized approach that recognises the skills and experience of school teachers without them having to unnecessarily provide surplus evidence. This Kit is designed to:

Help you put together evidence so that you can achieve the bulk of the qualification of Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) through a recognition process that streamlines and simplifies your collection requirements. This is a formal process that is based on a portfolio of evidence submitted by you, the candidate.

To make applying for the qualification as easy as possible. The evidence check lists and templates that have been created as part of this Kit will not guarantee your eligibility. After the assessment has been conducted additional evidence may be requested by a MRWED Learning Leader to support your claim of current competency.

What are the evidence requirements for obtaining TAE40110 through the Education Recognition Program (ERP) process?

Essentially, this program enables the ERP participant to obtain TAE40110 through three possible stages:

AND AND

How do I obtain TAE40110?

What happens after I submit my evidence?

Provided your course fees have been paid, within 5 business days of receiving your evidence submission a MRWED Learning Leader will contact you after assessing your application. Please note that submission of all parts of the Kit does not guarantee the success of your application. The MRWED Learning Leader will apply the Rules of Evidence to confirm your eligibility to be granted RPL for each of the Units of Competency.

After the RPL assessment of your Education Recognition Program has been completed you will then complete your remaining Units of Competency through your choice of either RPL, Online, Correspondence or Face-to-Face studies.

Your Certificate will be issued via email within 5 business days provided:

All course costs have been paid; AND Your RPL assessments have been satisfactorily completed; AND MRWED has been advised of your Unique Student Identifier (USI); AND Additional study for your remaining Units has been completed.

What happens if my application is unsuccessful?

If there is insufficient evidence to obtain all your expected Units through the Education Recognition Program you will be contacted by a MRWED Learning leader advising of the specific gaps in your application. If you are unable to provide the necessary evidence, the MRWED Learning Leader will discuss training options with you.

6

MRWED Education Recognition Program RPL Kit v 2

How much does it cost to obtain TAE40110 through the Education Recognition Program?

The course fees for Education Recognition Program participants to obtain their TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment are shown in the following two streams.

THEN THEN

THENYour total course fees are $1140.00.

OR

THEN THEN

THENYour total course fees are $995.00.

ERP participants are welcome to apply for RPL in lieu of Online or Correspondence studies without any change in pricing. ERP participants can alternatively attend Face-to-Face training for any of their remaining Units at an additional cost of $40 per Unit.

Applicants who elect to obtain the optional 11th Unit, TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills will pay an additional fee of either:

$105.00 for RPL (see note below); OR $150.00 for Online (recommended option) or Correspondence study; OR $345.00 for Face-to-Face study.

Note: MRWED’s experience delivering TAELLN411 to secondary teachers recommends online as the best study option for completion of this Unit. Success rates for obtaining RPL for this Unit are very low. Unless you are a specialised teacher who has a dedicated position assisting adults with LLN challenges using validated ACSF assessment tools you are unlikely to obtain RPL for this Unit.

How should the portfolio of evidence be organised?

An ERP participant’s likelihood of success is improved by organising the portfolio of evidence. Specifically, each item of evidence should identify the section number for which it is being submitted. There is no benefit in creating a table of contents, index or mapping document of any type.

Most importantly, all evidence should be submitted at the same time, either through email, postal mail or an electronic upload option of your choice (such as Dropbox or Box).

Where do I submit my portfolio of evidence?

Email: [email protected]: PO Box 325 Caboolture QLD 4510Upload: Contact our Learning Support Team on FREECALL 1800 287 246 for electronic upload options.

What is the course duration?

MRWED’s total course duration for TAE40110 is a maximum of six (6) months. However, ERP participants should realistically be able to achieve issuance much faster than that.

After submitting an enrolment form ERP participants are required to submit their evidence within 3 months.

An ERP participant’s collection of evidence should take approximately 2-3 hours. However, some of the evidence requires the participant to obtain documents from other sources, so the submission may be delayed until the participant receives those documents.

If the participant elects to complete the qualification through face-to-face training then each Unit of Competency requires 1-2 days of course attendance with only a very short independent assessment activity required for TAEASS401B.

If the participant elects to complete the qualification through online or correspondence training then each Unit of Competency is self-paced and can be commenced on any day after payment has been processed. Some MRWED course participants have completed all 10 Units of Competency within less than two weeks. School teachers typically move through the training and assessment tasks very quickly compared to other MRWED students. ERP participants who set aside dedicated times to undertake their online studies should complete their training within weeks not months. Our estimated average time for ERP participants to complete their online or correspondence studies for 4 Units of Competency is 15-20 hours.

8

MRWED Education Recognition Program RPL Kit v 2

When is payment required?

Your ERP course payment is due before any assessment will commence. This will cover all RPL assessments (Parts A and B) during the Education Recognition Program, your online or correspondence training costs and your Certificate issuance.

Who will be issuing this qualification?

ERP participants will deal directly with the issuing RTO for this qualification, MRWED Training and Assessment. ABN: 8727 0642 119. RTO National Provider Number: 30146. Website: www.mrwed.edu.au. Participant Information Handbook: http://www.mrwed.edu.au/forms.

Section 3 - Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN)

MRWED Training and Assessment is committed to supporting all of its students in successfully completing their selected qualification/s. As such we applaud the research that has been undertaken in understanding students LLN needs. Research clearly indicates that many students require some level of LLN support. At MRWED our desire is to understand any need that you, as a student, may have in regards to LLN. To assist you in this area we ask for you to either opt in or opt out of an LLN assessment, which will assist both you and us in ensuring the best outcomes possible for you.

For MRWED to best accommodate this we ask that every student select one of the following:

- I appreciate that MRWED is interested in my LLN standard, however I affirm that I do not require any assistance with LLN for the course I am choosing to undertake - Please finalise my enrolment.

*If you have selected this option your enrolment will be processed on receipt of your completed enrolment form.

- I am unsure if my LLN standard is sufficient for the level of study I am undertaking, therefore I elect to submit the completed LLN assessment to MRWED for assessment.

*If you have selected this option your enrolment will not be processed until a formal LLN assessment has been completed. A MRWED Learning Leader will be in contact with you to arrange this assessment.
