    Word from the National Director

    Dear brethren, I salute you all in thename o our Lord Jesus Christ, First o all I would like to take this gi-gantic opportunity to really appreciateyour involvement in students Ministry

    through AFES, your financial support,prayers and personal commitment to reachstudents on Campuses. God bless youabundantly. Tis newsletter contains three monthsupdates o January to March,in thesemonths we have seen the hand o Godupon students, associates, staff team andchurch partners.

    We have had great moments since westarted our new ministry year rom Octo-ber 2015 up to date. We launched a minis-try year with a slogan campaign o EACHONE REACH ONE, DISCIPLE ONE ANDTEACH ONE.We are challenging students to reach thenon- believers on campus as our Visionand Mission states. Also encouraging aca-

    demic excellence and Integrity as one oAFES Core values.

    We have succeeded to conduct leaders training seminars at ellowship level, smallgroup bible study workshops, evangelism campaign on campus and Discipleshipraining Seminar which was the climax, the theme this year was the Sovereign Lordis my strength Habakkuk 3:19. It was very powerul going through the whole booko Habakkuk and we concluded that no matter the situation, God is our strength. Getmore details below.

    ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

    AFES Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2016 washeld on 6th Febuary at AFES Boko centre. Temeeting brought together 72 stakeholders that is

    students, associates and staff.Among the things discussed included; Appointing o new Board o rustee members whoare Dr. Eda Wandwi, Brace Bayona and Rev, Canon.Tomas Goda. Restructuring o the AFES governing councilsince some o the members time o service haselapsed. Te suggested members are Dr. AngelaNanyaro, Dr. Elly umsiu, Dr. Joel Nobert and Mrs.Ellyjalia Mabiki.

    New ellowships were certified that is AFES Ia-kara and Sokoine University o Agriculture. Repre-sentatives o these ellowships were given certicateso affiliation on behal o their ellowships. AFES stakeholders were greatly challenged to ownthe ministry by praying, availing themselves but alsoby giving sacrificially towards the programs organ-ised by AFES. Tis was in line with theon going campaign to raise One Billion shillings orthe construction o the AFES Siver Jubilee Hall, thishall is expected to commence this year.

    On that same day, the AnnualStudents General Meeting was also conducted,bringing togather students leaders rom all AFESregions.Te climax o this meeting was the electiono new National Students Officials (NSO). Toseelected were;-Chairperson Walter Butoto rom HKMU Dar- Vice Chair preson Iman Magawa IRDP Dodoma- Secretary Neema George engeru Arusha

    - reasurer Victor Kaaya and IA Dar- Prayer coordinator Felix Mwasongwe. UshirikaMoshi

    Tese leaders under went Leadership raining andwere later commisioned at City Harvest Church-Dar-es-salaam.

    AFES staff team had a wonderul time rom 7th-14th February. During this time, they were taught

    various topics pertaining leadership and ministry

    so that they are ully equiped in the work theyare doing. Retreat was also a time or them to evaluatethemselves plus the ministry, plan and strateg-ize or what was coming ahead. Tis time wasspecifically used to set goals and pray or theDiscipleship raining Seminar that was com-ing a head. Also ample time or rereshment was obtain-ed during the evenings where they participated

    in games and sports.

    STAFF ENGAGEMENT

    On 6th March, AFES Associates Ministry Director

    Isaac P Nkwande engaged Sis. Jema Aidanat AIC Ukonga. Tey intend to be joined in Holy mat-rimony on 6th August and their wedding arrangementsare underway. Please, support them with prayers, financ-es and advice.

    We thank God for those who have offeredthemselves up to serve the Lord through

    ARUSHA

    155 Delegates gathered at st. Tomas or DS 2016.Tey were 130 students and 25 associates. Dr. Sokilean Associate expounded the theme rom the first threechapters o the book o Habakkuk while different as-sociates taught different topics.

    On Sunday Regional student leaders were elected andcommissioned or the task ahead. One o the most amazing things that happened duringthis DTS was seeing even high school students attendingand 1 o them gave their lives to Christ as i this was not

    enough one o the caterers gave her lie to Christ. Indeed it was a rereshing and growing time or all theparticipants, said Eia- Staff Arusha

    DODOMA At the heart o anzania, 18 Associates and117 students making a total o 135 delegatesmet at Mtumba teachers college to interact and

    reflect on Gods word guided by the theme TeSovereign Lord is my strength. Dr, Rev. GeraldNguyaine was the main expositor.

    Beinomugisha a student rom Mzumbe Univer-sity had this to say now i can answer back our

    proessor and ellow students why we use 66 booksand not 72 in the Bible, i came to Dodoma to at-tend DTS even or an hour so that i get this. Tiswas afer he attended the seminar How we gotour Bible (Canonicity). He had been challenged

    by his proessor and sadly he could not answerback until he remembered that while studying atCBE he heard that AFES has BES-P where thetopics such as Canonicity are taught, so he cameexpecting and was just in time or the electiveseminar. I was praying or so long to be filled with theHoly Spirit, I thank God during this DTS 2016 wehad prayers afer a session and I was filled with theHoly Spirit, Neema Lyimo rom CBE. I had an eye problem since secondary school

    but I thank God or DTS teachings and prayersnow am healed.Neema Nyemhanga rom IRDP.

    DAR-ES-SALAAM 485 delegates attended this years DS which washeld at Filbert Bayi school. Out o this number 450were students , associates 35, 2 children and 1 delegeterom Zambia.Proessor Busagala rom Sokoine University o Agricul-

    ture shared the exposition rom the book o Habakkukchapter 1 all through to chapter 3,Te delegates hadtime or personal devotions, Small groups bible study inthe morning and games in the evening hours. Tis year Bible study was done using manuscriptmethod. Associates, Staff and Regional Students Officialsworked day and night to make the conerence a successand through this 2 students gave their lives to Christ.

    DTS 2016 PRAISE REPORTS

    A total of 1184 students and 137 Associatesattended this years DTS.

    This DTS also faced various challenges like

    venue issues but thanks be to God He came

    through for us and itwas carried out success-

    fully.

    The number in attendance was an encourage-

    ment since most colleges and Universities were

    on smemester break.

    Special thanks goes out to all Associates,

    Staff , Regional Student Officials and Students

    who made this years DTS a success. God richly

    MOROGORO86 Delegates gathered at Youth With AMission Kihonda or DS 2016.Tey were68 students and 18 associates. Te TemeExpositor was Gil Medina the Director oPastoral raining o Reachanzania, he took the delegetes through thebook o Habakkuk word by word,verse by

    verse and chapter by chapter.On Sunday Regional student leaders were

    elected and commissioned or the taskahead.

    MWANZA 165 delegates (140 students and 25 as-

    sociates) gathered in Marrist Boys Schoolto learn and listen rom the Lord. AFESAssociates Ministry Director-Bro. Isaac Nk-wande, shared the exposition on the book oHabakkuk chapter 1 3. Like other regions, the delegates had timeor small group bible study every day, per-sonal de-votions and games every day.During this DS each region elected theirnew set o leadership marking a new phase;

    meaning. 6 students gave their lives to Christ

    KILIMANJARO 111 students, 10 Associates and 2 Associ-ates children gathered in Royal School orDS 2016. Mrs. Ellyjalia Mkoloma,shared on thetheme rom Habakkuk chapter one to threewhile associates taught different lessons.

    Afer ward Regional Student Leaders wereelected on Sunday and commissioned orservice on Monday during closing session.

    I was specifically blessed by the way As-sociates and Regional Student Officials gavethemselves sacrificially working day and nightto make sure DTS goes as planned. May Godrichly Bless them,said Gwantwa Swilla- StaffKilimanjaro.

    MBEYAA total o 168 Delegates attended DS whichincluded 150 students,16 associates and 2 visi-tors rom Zambia gathered in Ifisi CommunityCenter or DS 2016. Bro. Jeff the ZAFES Cam-pus Ministry Director shared the expositionrom the book o Habakkuk 1 to 3.Other activities which were carried out wereBible study, Seminars, Games and sports, elec-tions plus commissioning o Regional StudentsOfficials.

    Listening to 2 students rom Mbeya Institute oScience and Technology recite Habakkuk chapter1 and 3 greatly challenged to read the Bible andmemorise it, Said a student IA Mbeya.

    Several activities were carried out in all regions that is; exposition,seminars (Understanding your lies purpose, Effects o Media/Technol-ogy in our sex lie, Walk thru the bible, Campus Evangelism(Students reaching students), Evangelistic Bible Study, High school

    Ministry, Discipleship in campuses, Developing a biblical work ethics,Personal Management, How we got our bible (Canonicity), Writingskills (Blogs, Articles,Books), Integrity at the market place, Spiritual

    warare and Finalist PACKAGE-Special), Students memorised andrecited the whole book o Habakkuk, Games, Praise and Worship,etc.

    ASSOCIATES MINISTRY

    Te Associates ellowship is a very important arm in theAFES ministry. Below are just a ew testimonies com-ing rom the Associates ellowship Dodoma:Te Associates have started a mentoringprogram to the students leaders (RSO) in that everyleader is attached to one Associate who will be account-able to the ollowing;- o mentor him/her especially in areas partaining toleadership, academics and relationships.

    - o advice and supervise the mentee to read atleastone sound book every month and be able to reportwhat he/she has learnt rom that particular bbok. - o advice the leader on how he/she can use theirpotentials to ulfill Gods purpose in their livesAlso Associates have decided to help Cu leaders tohave a uniorm system o planning their CU programsso as to ease implemantation and reporting, programslike BES-P, Small group Bible study which are coreAFES programs are being emphasised.

    Mwanza:Associates have started an innitiative to undraise r the coming events like Go- conerence whichwill be held in December and next years DS. Teyve decided that each Associate is to sponsor atleast 5-6students rom different CUs. Not only will these students be sponsored but they will be mentored and helpedin academic, social and economic matters.

    Dar-es-salaam: Te ellowship o Associates has decided to orm a network (group) o all ormer NationalStudents Officials since 2007 to date that will enable them to be in touch with the ministry in the ollowingareas; - Tier involvement in students affairs (campus programs) - Teir commitment in supporting the ministry financially. Mbeya: Basic AFES Program are being conducted by associates or example the Associate staff movesrom University to University teaching students during BES-P sessions. Kilimanjaro:Associates visited student ellowshipduring the Associates CU visitation, this encouraged thestudents so much that they now organise Bible study ses-sions to be togather with Associates.
